Chapter 679: Chapter 255 What on Earth Is LeBron Doing?_5
"Just do what you’re told, will you? Why all the fuss?"
"Don’t you know I’m the ’Savior’ of the Heat Team now?"
"If we lose tonight’s game, it’s all on the rookie!"
After grumbling to himself, LeBron managed to temper his anger quite a bit.
But what he didn’t know was that his argument with Chalmers had already sparked a heated debate.
Barkley said, "If I were Mario, I would do the same. In those two rounds, LeBron’s defense was just atrocious. Does he even know what defense means?"
It was the first time he’d seen someone, while defending, dodge the player with the ball and wait for a teammate to cover for him.
And this happened even though LeBron was not out of position.
Shaquille O’Neal tweeted a status that he was supposed to post after the game, but he just couldn’t wait: "I’ve said it before, you can always trust LeBron James!"
However, he also missed a point:
He only thought about LeBron not having chemistry with his teammates. He really didn’t expect LeBron to start an argument with his teammates in the very first game.
This was the time when LeBron should have just focused on performing well.
Hm...
Shaquille also didn’t notice that all of Miami had already elevated LeBron to the position of "Savior." If he had, he wouldn’t have been surprised.
LeBron’s personality is typically of a "small man achieving great things" and "prone to arrogance."
Once people treat him as the "Savior," he starts acting as if he’s already in that role.
Like now, he felt as though he was in charge of the entire Heat Team.
Spoelstra didn’t make any changes but emphasized to Wade to be more decisive in his attacks. Although in front of LeBron, Spoelstra still said, "Dwayne, from now on, just play this game as if it were the thirtieth you’ve played this season! I believe in you, you can do it!"
LeBron’s face darkened for a moment.
But in a flash, he also said, "Yeah, Dwayne, you should play as you were before, don’t worry, I’ll adapt to you guys!"
LeBron indeed had a knack for handling Wade.
His "teabag-thick" comments made Wade feel very grateful, even apologizing slightly, "This should be your stage!"
What use is your knowing?
Doesn’t someone else not know?
LeBron muttered bitterly in his heart, but still graciously said, "No, this is your stage, the Heat team is always yours, Dwayne!"
Chris Bosh, listening to their conversation, felt absolutely tingling.
Why don’t you two just go get married!
For real...
What are they playing at!
So far in this game, he had only touched the ball once.
And they were having their "brotherly love" moment here.
Really freaking annoying!
Spoelstra’s words were effective, though, as a resolute Wade successfully kicked off the Heat Team’s first offensive for the evening.
The smooth attack ignited cheers from the otherwise somber crowd.
The entire Heat Team’s momentum burst forth at that moment.
The Hawks’ offense this round was no longer smooth. The ball passed around for a long time without finding a good offensive opportunity. Finally, Howard’s strong attack missed, and the ball bounced off the rim. Chris Bosh snagged the rebound but didn’t secure it tightly; after a series of errors, the ball ended up in Horford’s hands. Noticing the crowded area below the basket, he quickly spotted Josh Smith on the perimeter.
With the ball in the hands of the "Dunk King," in a wide-open position, he raised his hand and took a three-point shot.
It was a clean hit!
"Where’s LeBron?" Barkley exclaimed, voicing everyone’s doubt.
The cameras at the venue began to search for LeBron, then found him already waiting under the Hawks’ basket.
What’s going on?
The reporters from Miami media on the sidelines looked at each other, puzzled.
The fans were also clueless.
"What is he even doing on the court!" a reporter finally blurted out, his expression showing he was at his wits’ end.
TNT replayed the round.
The footage showed that just a second after Chris Bosh grabbed the rebound, LeBron, as if a switch had been hit, didn’t even look back but dashed toward the Hawks’ defensive area.
Halfway there, he turned his head looking for the ball, only to find that Bosh had not secured the rebound and Horford had taken it back, thus allowing Smith, whom LeBron was supposed to be defending, to make an open three-point shot.
Barkley’s face was full of mockery: "LeBron has, like, great fast-break instincts!"
As for Su Wan, he once again shouted, "Ivanka, any more sandwiches?"
