The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband
Chapter 88: Meeting the main characters

Chapter 88: Meeting the main characters

A low magnetic voice rang as a round of footsteps approached the desk area. It wasn’t exactly as it happened in the main novel, where Cedric and Abrielle met the king the next morning, but the events were still similar.

Ignoring the blue screen before her, Abrielle turned behind her; her breath was stolen immediately, "Lucian," she mumbled and felt Cedric’s hold on her tighten.

Before them stood a young man with a teasing smile, "Father, I have returned," the newcomer said, showing obvious familiarity with the king, unlike Cedric, who addressed the king as your majesty.

The newcomer was everything a fantasy romance male lead could be described as: handsome, graceful, gorgeous, etc, but these qualities did not leave Abrielle spellbound and unable to look away. Cedric’s jaw clenched, and then his sharp gold eyes met the similar eyes of the newcomer.

Lucian Von Drakkar, the male lead of the story, ends up with the female lead. What made him so striking was his obvious resemblance to Hazel’s crush back on earth, Lucian, the boy who invited her on a date before she died.

Hazel had envisioned the male lead to be exactly like her crush with the only difference being his eyes that were not green. Lucian had strawberry blonde hair and gold hair then this magnetic present around him that draws people in different from Cedric’s aloof presence.

He was so gorgeous. Abrielle’s heart skipped a beat. Seeing her crush look alike, she glanced away to control her reaction. She should not be showing any interest in Lucian.

Despite looking dignified, Lucian’s temper is even shorter than Cedric’s when any girl aside from the female lead approaches him because he feels they have evil intentions, especially her known to be Cedric’s obsessed wife. "I am glad you returned successfully from your war." Kaiden praised and Abrielle felt a shift in Cedric’s mood.

She wondered if he had ever been welcomed warmly from his battles, the unloved Prince who grew up on the battle fronts.

"It was a long battle. Thanks to Father’s blessing, I made it back." Lucian said with a proud smile. Cedric scoffed, drawing attention to him. "If I was the one leading it would have ended much earlier." He said as a matter of fact.

"I am sorry I don’t have as much experience as my dear brother; I am open to learning from you." He replied the conversation was going exactly how Abrielle envisioned it. It was happening.

Cedric scoffed ignoring Lucian, Abrielle’s eyes were on the floor as she grew nervous.

"That’s why you are great General Cedric, but with your temper, you might never gain the people’s support." Kaiden chirped in. The king’s three sons were present: Cedric, the oldest, at 23; Lucian, the first son of the queen and crown prince, at 22; and Alfonso, the third prince, the son of a lower wife.

Cedric, despite being the oldest with more experience, was never given the crown prince position for two reasons: he wasn’t the queen’s son, and he was famed to be a monster hated by a lot of people. His background was what shaped him into the villain he was.

"Father, don’t blame Cedric. I am indeed not as experienced as the youngest general in Darconia history. With time, I will get better." Lucian confidently said with a good temperament.

The sound of something being knocked off drew everyone’s attention behind the shelves. Lucian’s eyes flickered, "sorry about that, but there is someone I want you to meet who can help us with investigating the winter hunt incident." Lucian quickly said then walked behind the shelves to bring out the timid girl that was waiting there.

Abrielle’s grip on Cedric’s hand tightened; she didn’t know how to feel about meeting the person who would cause her death. With the clearest blue eyes that Abrielle’s eyes seemed inferior to and hair as pure as snow.

The secret priest of the temple of Starlight Cove lived in slavery until she was rescued by Lucian. The female lead of the story is Callista Starlight. "This is priestess Callista, one of the slaves I rescued in battle." Lucian introduced.

"She was a slave from Starlight Cove temple; why are you holding hands with a slave?" Kaiden said as a matter of fact. His first impressions of Callista were not high, as she was a slave, and he didn’t like the way his son seemed protective of her. In his opinion, the best match for Lucian was Abrielle, but things don’t always go as planned.

Callista shrank due to Kaiden’s tone, and Lucian stared back at his father. "She might have been a slave but was once a high priestess before she was being captive. She is a powerful seer, and having her under Darconia’s protection would increase our strength." Lucian confidently said.

At this point of the story, there are faint feelings between Lucian and Callista, but it is Callista who looks up to Lucian for saving her from slavery. She fell first but he fell harder.

Lucian’s goal of securing Callista was to increase his strength and solidify his position; although he was the crown prince, he was aware of the fact Cedric was a powerful threat to him.

Abrielle glanced at Cedric to observe his reaction, unlike Lucian, he fell for the female lead from first sight as his dark soul was drawn to the light she possessed.

Abrielle felt her heart squeeze, but she didn’t understand why; it hurt to see the way Cedric could not take his eyes away from Callista. It left a bitter taste in her mouth just as she knew every interest he had in her would disappear the moment Callista showed up in the story.

This caused Abrielle to feel a wave of anger and hatred for Callista. ’ wait a moment, why does it feel like I am reacting how the main Abrielle did?’ she asked herself as fear shook her.

She was a psycho, for she was developing forbidden feelings for the person she was meant to hate and then hating the person she should not, which would lead to her death.

This was crazy; she was the one who hated the fact that Cedric was a bit gentle with her. Abrielle realized the fact that the system warned her about. They were now being influenced by the plot. She has to fight her book plot now not to love Cedric.

How was she going to escape this fate?
