The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband -
Chapter 56: Playboy brother in law
Chapter 56: Playboy brother in law
Abrielle was completely puzzled by the way Alfonso was acting. He was acting out of character. She had never imagined Prince Alfonso to have a liking of any kind for the wife of his brother who was known for her obsession.
Although he wasn’t a saint because he was known as an infamous playboy, in the actual novel that was yet to start. Alfonso had a couple of illicit affairs with titled nobles’ wives to gather support.
It was his strength that was later exposed in the book when he was killed by a nobleman who caught him and his wife hitting it off secretly in a garden during an event. The man could not bear the betrayal and killed Alfonso and his wife.
That was a tragic end for him. Alfonso had only one reason to be approaching Abrielle and that was to use her because of her family support. The Nightshade duchy was one of the king’s right-hand men which was while Abrielle’s and Cedric’s wedding was delayed.
The king thought it would be more befitting for Abrielle to get married to his crown prince instead of Cedric.
The music and chatter from the hall could be still heard and Abrielle’s heart was beating fast. Alfonso’s grip was firm on her. She tried to yank off her hand but he didn’t budge most slightly.
"Let go of my hand. Alfonso." Abrielle said in a firm tone. "Come on, there is no need to be nervous. I know you don’t like Cedric anymore. Like who will like a man who always has a mask on." His lips quirked into a smug smile. He thought that Abrielle would be interested in him since she showed her obvious resistance to marrying Cedric by attempting to flee her wedding.
Abrielle scoffed, she never expected the news of her attempting to flee was the topic of gossip Among the nobles. Why didn’t her parents work better to keep her secret hidden?
"My relationship with my husband has nothing to do with you. You better stop this strange behaviour. It would be scandalous for you if we were caught together like this." Abrielle tried to speak some sense into Alfonso but he thought she was playing hard to get.
"That’s why you should not hesitate. In affairs like this, the woman is always in a bad place." Alfonso chimed, pulling Abrielle closer as he leaned towards her ears. His breath fanned against her skin and she had never felt more disgusted in her life than how she felt now.
Her emotions surged up and out of instinct she slapped him on his face. Alfonso froze as the sound of skin striking against each other echoed. She used the opportunity that he was stunned to kick him in his nuts. The sudden pain caused him to winch in pain, breaking his hold on Abrielle.
Not wasting a moment more she fled the powder room entrance in the other direction that led to the garden. Since Alfonso was blocking the way to the hall. Her heels clicked against the floor as she made her way out of the mansion. She didn’t dare to glance behind her if Alfonso was there.
She felt violated and disgusted. The cold winter night breeze was cold and gentle carrying moisture.
Abrielle slightly shivered as the breeze grazed her skin. It was cold and snow seemed to be everywhere. Luckily the paths had been cleared making it easier for her to move with her heels. Danbury was popular in Darconia because of its native wintermoore flowers that bloomed in winter.
The air was filled with its soft scent which made Abrielle subconsciously relaxed seeing the beautiful bloom. The white petals blended perfectly with the snow and it was even more beautiful than she imagined.
The manor was still lively with music and luckily Alfonso didn’t chase after her. He was probably embarrassed by the way she outsmarted him.
"How will I survive this hell?" She mumbled, her mood was sour and she had no intention of returning to the party.
"The best way to survive in hell is to be worse than the creature that hunts you." She heard a familiar baritone voice say from behind her. His footsteps were getting closer and she didn’t have to glance behind to know it was Cedric.
He stopped behind her with his dominant presence overshadowing her from behind. He felt warm. "What if I cannot be stronger than them?" She asked him.
Abrielle felt a coat being wrapped around her, his strong sandalwood scent with a hint of vanilla hit her nostrils which offered a weird warmth. "Then you just have to rely on someone else. You shouldn’t be out in the cold, we don’t want you getting the flu." His tone was weirdly soft. He wasn’t teasing her or giving her the chills that made her tremble.
"Inside was a bit suffocating," Abrielle answered, Cedric’s eyes darker because he had an idea of what happened. He could smell the scent of a pest around her.
A smirk graced his eyes, he never expected Alfonso would set his eyes on Abrielle despite the fact she was his wife. He was getting bolder.
"They are beautiful," Abrielle muttered walking away to a bench to watch the wintermoore flowers. Cedric’s brows furrowed but he sat beside her regardless.
He glanced at his side where Abrielle was seated, there was a fountain not too far from where they were seated. "It’s stunning." He replied but he wasn’t referring to the flowers.
"What did Alfonso say?" He asked her although he had a feeling what it might be. Abrielle froze for a while but there was no need for her to be scared when she did nothing wrong.
"He said it is a shame getting married to you," he replied and Cedric chuckled, not mad in the slightest by what she said.
"That must be what he said to all the wives he fooled around with. He is no different from his mother." He replied and Abrielle’s eyes went wide Cedric knew about Alfonso’s affairs.
