Chapter 37: Good or bad news

A large portion of the forest was already destroyed and lone figure faced against the terrifying monster. His bare hands he had be using to fight the monster was dripping with blood.

No reinforcement came to face a monster considered a calamity because Cedric’s men knew they would only add to to the problem. It was best to let two monsters battle against themselves.

Abrielle started feeling tipsy after her second glass, the ground was vibrating and she had no idea how long had past but the battle was still ongoing.

From her guess the monster was summoned to kill Cedric after he would be dead, an entire army would have to face it up. It would be a long battle but eventually the monster would fall from exhaustion but a lot of lives will be lost.

Her heart felt a bit heavy but there was nothing she could do. All this was all Cedric fault, if he wasn’t here the Khoas would not have been summoned and a lot of lives would not be lost.

"Is there anything else you need my highness?" The maid asked her making sure to attend to all her meds.

"I don’t think so, maybe something to munch on before taking a nap." Abrielle replied. She was bored already, living in this time without the Internet and modern technology was depressing.

"Alright I will prepare something immediately." The maid said then got right to work. Abrielle’s eyes moved away from the flame to the shelves maybe she should read something but quickly pushes the idea away.

Abrielle only hoped that this would be over before the food supply runs out. The maid made her a quick meal which she had before taking an nap.

While everyone nerves were getting wrecked by the appearance of a monster described to come from the pits of hells dear princess Abrielle was peacefully sleeping without a care of the world.

Her heart was at peace, she didn’t even think about her husband that was our there risking his life. She was indeed vicious to the core but there was really nothing this powerless Villainess could do about the scenario than to think about the positive of part.

She slowly drifted into her dream land where she dreamth of Cedric’s funeral. It was a sunny day perfect to celebrate. Abrielle had a bright smile on her face as she slept.

Time went on and due to the alcohol Abrielle was still asleep until late in the night. Her maid was awake the entire time worrying about the situation but couldn’t truly understand why the princess seemed carefree about it.

Abrielle’s brows furrowed when she felt something cold touch her face. Her eyes immediately popped out and she was met by a pair of mesmerizing gold eyes.

He was still alive!!! Abrielle could not understand what was happening, how was he still alive after facing such a monster. Shock was evident in her eyes but it quickly changed into a welcoming smile.

"You are back." She said dryly as her eyes glanced at Cedric appearance. He was sweaty and had his hair sticking on his forehead with blood dripping from his finger tips.

"Are you not happy to see i am back?" Cedric asked although he had a feeling his wife would have preferred it if he had died. She wanted to say of course I am not happy to see you. Why are you still alive? Why is it so hard for you to die? Those were her true thoughts but she dared not voice them out and instead said.

"I am happy to see you just shocked at your appearance. I was afraid that you will die and leave me a window." Abrielle replied which was half true. Cedric had a weak smile on his face.

"I am happy you were worried about me." He said even though he knew athat was not was true. He said it. "The blood isn’t mine." He mumbled then collapsed into her arms.

He was exhausted and just wanted to see her, he had overexerted himself already.

Abrielle was stunned and confused. Cedric immediately fell asleep in her arms. She could sense his breath as he slept almost peacefully.

He was so vulnerable in her arms right now that she could kill him and end this hell .

"Should I inform the servants to move the prince to his room?" The maid asked her. Cedric in his sleep hugged Abrielle tightly reluctant to let go. She was still confused by everything and had no idea how to react.

The door was pushed open and Elias came in. He was struck at the image of the prince clinging unto Abrielle as he slept by her side on the bed. "Pardon me." He quickly excused himself.

"There is no need for that. The prince seemed to be very exhausted." She answered confused about how to handle the situation. She was still dumbstruck by the fact Cedric was still alive.

"He fought for over 8 hours to defeat the Khoas. He single handedly saved the town." The maid said with respect in her eyes before bowing out.

Abrielle was left speechless. Cedric had gotten rid of the Khoas by himself..how was that possible? She wondered looking at his bloody appearance. He was holding her with his bloody hands to.

She could just kill him right now and claim he died from exhaustion but for a weird reason watching him sleep so peaceful by her side didn’t let her. Why was she hesitating she wondered.

maybe it was because he had saved her life twice. Fine she would let him off just this one time because he had saved her to pay her debt. After all if she killed him off now it would be too suspicious.

"How can you sleep so comfortable in the arms of a woman that wants to kill you? " She asked him then a long sigh left her lips. It was truly tempting to end everything now.

Abrielle had no idea that Cedric was not completely asleep and heard her question. He was also asking himself why he came to check up on her when he was serious exhausted.
