The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband -
Chapter 31: A Virtuous wife
Chapter 31: A Virtuous wife
The ride from the castle to the training ground was short. The maid helped Abrielle step out of the carriage, and her eyes were drawn to the men training. They were all dripping sweat as they continued doing some endurance training that seemed to be tasking, and naturally, her evil husband was overseeing everyone.
It was close to noon so the weather was not chilly since the sun was already up. Cedric was dressed in his training outfit while he oversaw the entire process with his second-in-command, Elias, screaming out orders.
His long black hair that grew past his shoulders was left to cascade like the night; he stood tall and proud with his hand folded against his chest. All his attention was solely on the knights who, despite sweating so much, didn’t seem tired in the least way.
A sweet smile made its way to her face as she called out his name. "Cedric!" This successfully drew everyone’s attention to her. Abrielle, not wasting a second more, ran to her stunned husband, who was surprised at her strange behaviour.
She hopped off the ground to be able to reach up to his neck then placed a quick peck on his cheeks. "Good morning my love." She chimed with a very sweet smile that would have fooled everyone, including the knights if they were unaware of her true nature.
Abrielle moved away about to step back on the floor. Cedric’s arm quickly wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer; her soft lavender scent infiltrated his nostrils, making him flash a charming smile that made her heart skip a beat.
He was a charmer and his gold mask didn’t even hide it. He was too close for comfort and his strong sandalwood scent was drawing her in. She was the one who threw herself to him and now she regrets it.
"Please put me back on the ground," Abrielle said, pressing her hand against his chest to push him away, but his firm chest was like a wall.
Cedric’s smile widened, "a kiss on the cheeks is all I get this morning from my dear wife, who decided to proclaim her love to me this morning." He mentioned nestling his face in her ginger hair. Her cheeks turned red; they were under the eyes of others, and he was acting this shameless.
"Cedric, others are watching us. You should not act this way." Abrielle tried to hint at him. Cedric could care less about the eyes around them. His knights were wise enough to continue with their training ignoring the couple to save their eyes from being gouged out.
"They would not dare look." Cedric chimed as his gaze was on her plump cherry lips that loved cursing him every time. Abrielle was busy complaining about their position, but all that was on Cedric’s mind was to kiss those lips, and he did exactly that.
He kissed those venomous lips of hers. As soon as his lips touched her, Abrielle’s eyes went wide, unable to believe he was kissing her in such a public place. She was too stunned to resist, and Cedric took advantage of that as he continued to indulge himself.
Since she decided to put on the act as a good wife he would gladly play along for now. The kiss was not long, Cedric had to force himself to stop before he did something he was to regret.
He placed her back on the ground and whispered into her ears. "Next time you want to greet me, my love, go for the lips and not the cheeks." He teased her. Abrielle exercised her best willpower not to glare at him.
"Scheming bastard." She muttered under her breath, barely a whisper, but Cedric heard it crystal clear. Abrielle quickly glanced away to stare at the guards who were still training, and she felt sorry for the poor souls who had been training before dawn.
She was glad they weren’t looking at her and Cedric. "I heard that you and the knights haven’t had breakfast and asked the kitchen to organize your meals out here," Abrielle informed Cedric with her gaze still on the soldiers.
Cedric was amused at what plans she had now. Did she plan to poison his knights to make it easier for an assassination attempt? Sadly that was far from Abrielle’s intentions.
"I am not hungry, but the men can take a break now," Cedric replied, then beckoned on Elias to come over. Elias, the head of Cedric’s Knights, was a few years older than him; he was around 27 years of age and over 6 feet tall, although Cedric was taller.
Cedric was so tall, to be honest, that Abrielle wondered if this was how she envisioned him. Elias was a handsome champ in his way with a Bucky appearance, thanks to all the rigorous training he had to undergo. He had a clean-shaved face and dazzling obsidian eyes that complimented his auburn hair.
"Yes, your Highness," Elias answered. Cedric smirked at Elias, which made his stomach churn, fearing what were the next plans his master had.
"The princess organized breakfast for the men. Make sure everyone has enough rest and food before I am back." He instructed Elias to try his best to keep a straight face. He just didn’t like the idea of eating food the princess arranged; after all, his master wife was a terrifying person just like her husband.
"I will inform the men immediately." Elias slightly bowed under Cedric’s sharp gold eyes. "Are you not going to eat?" Abrielle could not help but ask. She had no idea how suspicious her naive question seemed to the men.
"Not yet, if you don’t mind, do you care to have a walk with me?" Cedric suggested giving his hand to Abrielle which she readily accepted.
No matter how suspicious Cedric was acting. She knew never to fall for his nice acts because he could flip the switch at any moment.
"Where are we going?" She enquired from Cedric as she followed him. Her free hand was holding her dress skirt to make it easier to move.
"It’s a surprise. You are great with horses from what I remembered in how you tried to flee the wedding because we will have to ride a bit on horseback." He informed her. She tried her best to keep up her smile no matter how worried she was about his words.
His eyes looked like he was still mad about that failed escape he helped her with. She thought they had gotten over this already.
