Chapter 274: His objective

Karissa almost cried, her eyes watered like a heavy load was lifted from her shoulder. "I told you he would be fine." The royal concubine praised. Her heart swelled with pride, her hand reaching out to wipe the tear that threatened to fall from the corner of her eyes

"That was a marvellous duel, nothing but just breathless for a moment. I thought Alfonso was not going to win," Marinette admitted. ..

"I also had the same fear, but in the end, everything worked out great." Karissa’s gaze never left Alfonso for a second. Her nails almost pierced through her skin during the battle

Alfonso dismounted, raising his lance in victory. His eyes drew to Abrielle’s direction, something Cedric’s very keen eyes didn’t miss. His smile still grew wider. "That was an interesting match." The first prince chimed.

"I should get ready for my duel," Axel mentioned before retreating. He didn’t have eyes as good as Cedric’s but knew the Prince was in an odd mood, one Axel knew too well. Cedric’s cheerful mood suddenly plummeted. Cedric’s murderous intent was already leaking out.

"Don’t lose too badly. My reputation is also on the line." Cedric said in a fleeting moment.

Axel bowed slightly, then left the waiting room, leaving only Cedric, who stood next to the glass wall watching.

The door was closed, the prince smirked, and the temperature plummeted several degrees down. "Patience is an important virtue, Cedric." He told himself.

And in that moment, Abrielle knew this was not just a duel. This was a warning. Her blue eyes met his hazel eyes. Alfonso was playing right into Cedric’s hands.

Elias was slightly injured so he could manage to get up on his own before he limped to his horse. The crowd kept on cheering. They were glad their prince did not disappoint.

Alfonso was halfway there, a match more to be called a true victor and get the rose. A lot of people had similar questions on their minds about who Alfonso was going to fight against next.

It was too early to know yet, this was the first match of the day. After Elias left Alfonso followed behind to his waiting area

The next battle was a quick one between Lucian and Axel. Axel was a good fighter and without a doubt put in his best but there was no way he could stand a chance against Lucian

The battle lasted a few minutes; Lucian came out victorious, leaving the crowd hyped and excited. The other matches were equally exciting and thrilling.

Some were fast, some slow, but every match was satisfying as these were the best knights. Sebastian also had his time to shine dressed in silver armour the former priest displayed he wasn’t too far back from his peers

At the end of the match, Sebastian raised his lance looking in the direction of the Nightshade family dedicating his victory to them

Abrielle was not a fan of violence; it only seemed nice on pages, but she enjoyed every single battle. She dared not leave her seat for a second.

The first round of the duel was coming to an end and yet a popular face was still missing. Everyone grieved for the unfortunate soul that had to face off against the demon of Darconia.

The gates were raised, and a striking figure on his black stallion made his way into the centre. Cedric was relaxed and not bothered about anything.

This was the last match of the first round. The crowd was excited, this was a fight everyone who bet their money was sure they would win. Cedric Von Drakkar got to the centre of the Arena, his gaze keenly waiting for the opposite gates to open. He was completely indifferent to the crowd’s cheers.

"Steady midnight, this match would be over before you know it." He reminded his horse that was excited. Cedric didn’t even spare Abrielle a glance. He knew where she was seated; he wanted her to watch.

The main show was yet to start for now. The opposite gates opened and the knight came in. The unfortunate soul, a face that seemed unfamiliar to Abrielle.

Her hands clasped together, the first prince was indeed playing games. The knight, who was a count for a distant part of the kingdom, stepped in.

His hand was shaking barely holding the reigned and lance in his hand. He was a man that had fought in wars but yet a simple duel against the first prince shook him to the core.

His dark eyes met Cedric’s bored gaze. "What did I do to deserve this?" His voice was shaking. He took a deep breath trying to muster every courage on his body.

The trumpets rang and Midnight stomped his hooves on the sand before charging at the knight. The knight froze paralyzed to even move. The death he saw death charging at me.

"I SURRENDER!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, throwing his lance on the floor. Cedric pulled Midnight’s reigns just in time his lance was so close the knight felt the tip close to his neck.

"It is too early for that," Cedric said tilting his head to the side. He was disappointed he didn’t get to have any fun. "I surrender and admit you are the winner." The knight said. It was not a thing of shame but a rare situation. Only a few gave up without trying.

Cedric signed, knowing the rules and withdrew. "You can leave." He clicked his tongue.

The knight smiled at Cedric then bowed slightly before riding off. He might be a coward, as some will say, but he has survived a battle against Cedric.

"I don’t blame the poor man," Rebecca mentioned knowing how terrifying Cedric was. A lot of the spectators had the same feeling. The man made a good decision.

The crowd still cheered at Cedric; it was still a foot to achieve what he had just done. After the last match, the officiator took the stage to announce the matches for the second round.

"FIRSTLY, WE HAVE CEDRIC VON DRAKKAR WHO WILL GO AGAINST ALFONSO VON DRAKKAR." This was the main plan the prince had from the start.
