Chapter 250: Breakfast at the balcony
The bath was steamy, as he said, but far from relaxing. Cedric knew what he was doing and enjoyed messing with her. He loved how she was fighting with herself.
While Abrielle was fighting the greatest battle ever, Cedric seemed to have changed his mind withdrawing completely. Her jaw dropped. He didn’t look guilty or bothered knowing he left her half undone.
He finished the bath while Abrielle did her best not to snap at him. All she could do was call him names after names in her mind. Girl, she had a lot
It was her fault for ever expecting anything good from him. He was the devil, a demon. How many times does she have to say it to herself for her dumb head to accept the fact?
"Is something bothering you?" She heard him ask. Abrielle’s eyes snapped at him; they were cold. How could he ask such a question when he knew perfectly why? Her thoughts screamed. She humphed turning away from him.
Cedric’s lips quirked, He understood her anger, and if she had admitted to wanting it, he would have given it to her. Who was he to say no? But his wife would rather die in silence. "I don’t understand why I am getting the silent treatment but glaring at me won’t do a thing because I find it rather cute and funny." The sadist admitted pulling her nose.
"That’s believable coming from a sadist," she grumbled. Cedric was helping to dry her hair with a towel. He seemed intent on taking care of her in quotes. A habit she seemed to have observed from him when he brutalized her body in Abrielle’s opinion.
Cedric clicked his tongue at her words. Abrielle’s hair was pretty long, so it was hard to dry.. after most of the moisture was dry, Cedric wrapped up her hair in a dry towel.
A dress was already sent for Abrielle earlier as per Cedric’s instructions. It was a simple dress that didn’t need a corset. He had requested it for the sole reason he didn’t want Abrielle leaving the room or getting anywhere close to the arena.
He knew she would not dare leave the chamber in such a simple dress, knowing this was the palace. At least he was sure Alfonso would not be doing anything stupid.
If possible, he would have locked her in here, but he knew that would cause a bigger strife and give her another reason to hate him.
A few minutes later, they were done; the dress chosen for Abrielle was a rather modest one. She loved it due to the comfortable fabric and the fact it didn’t have many layers. She was also aware of Cedric’s intentions; he didn’t want her going to the Arena, and honestly, she wasn’t keen on going either when she thought about Alfonso.
Cedric brushed out her hair when it was dry enough and braided it into a simple braid. She was basically ready for her house arrest, something she didn’t dare say out loud knowing his temper and how domineering he was.
There was a light knock on the door, "I will get it." Cedric informed. He grabbed his mask on the table to put it on before Abrielle left her in front of the dressing mirror. He walked towards the door and opened it.
Abrielle didn’t know who it was, but from the look of things, she could guess it was someone Cedric was expecting. He let whoever was at the door, and soon Evelyn came in along with a couple of the palace maids.
"Good morning, Your Highness," they simultaneously greeted the princess. Abrielle nodded at them; they were all carrying baskets, which Abrielle assumed contained breakfast. Evelyn led them to a door. Abrielle had no idea what led to a balcony until it was opened.
A table was set for them on the balcony, Abrielle found it a bit weird to be having breakfast with Cedric there. It seemed a bit romantic.
"We should have breakfast, I know you are famished," Cedric suggested as soon as the maids were done. From Abrielle’s guess, Evelyn had overseen the entire process from the kitchen to prevent a scenario of Cedric getting poisoned, although she doubted any poison would have an effect on him now.
As if hearing Cedric’s words, her stomach rumbled. How embarrassing it was. Abrielle wished the ground would part at that moment. The maids were not far away.
Abrielle slowly stood up, and avoided Cedric’s gaze. Her legs were weak and wobbly; she missed a step, almost tripping.
Cedric caught her on time. He scoffed at her, then bent over to carry her. Abrielle Yelped circling her hand on her neck. The maid was stunned, their cheeks going red, but Abrielle’s cheeks were red when she saw them.
This was super embarrassing, she hid her face on his shoulders. Cedric sensed something was off; his eyes darted to the maids, who immediately straightened. "Give me a warning next time." She whined while still hiding her face.
"There is nothing to be shy about," he said. There were still faint sparks from their touch. "That’s easy for you to say."
Cedric carried her to the balcony; the rails were decorated with vines that had bloomed flowers, not forgetting the flower vases.
It was beautiful and peaceful. Getting to the table Abrielle thought Cedric was going to drop her on her seat. To get shocked, he took his seat and made her sit on his lap.
She could imagine the gossip already. "Don’t tell me you plan on carrying me throughout", she sighed.
Cedric didn’t reply to her, probably finding her a bother. He picked up a grape and brought it to her lips. "I plan on doing much more. Don’t worry about it you weigh as light as a sheet of paper." He answered. Abrielle bit her lips, he was definitely toying with her.
"You can’t do this. The maid is watching."
"That is even a bigger reason. Now open your lips, or do you prefer I pry them open myself? Don’t bother about the maids."
