Chapter 216: Sleep by his side

Abrielle held the glass with both hands, her reflection flickering on the water’s surface. She cleared her throat avoiding his gaze that was still heated.

"Your return journey was early. It is safe to assume you left without my parents’ awareness." She started, and he understood that she was concerned about her parents.

"I had to leave in a hurry, but I did leave a message for them, which hopefully will get to your parents," Cedric explained. Abrielle nodded, taking a sip from the glass.

"They will be worried that you left abruptly," Abrielle mentioned, dropping the glass. "Yes, maybe so. I didn’t have a choice but to hurry back. It felt as if I had taken longer, things would have gotten worse, and I would have walked into a scene of you being bedded by Alfonso." Cedric genuinely answered.

"That’s how little you see me." The princess scoffed at him. Cedric didn’t blink for a second; he watched her lips, which were luscious and wet. It was calling out for him, but sadly, he had to respect his wishes no matter how painful it was.

He knew she was in a fragile time. He should not put his desires above her well-being.

"What did you expect? The rumours were bad and that aside, it was getting unbearable hearing Sapphire’s constant chirping." Abrielle listened carefully.

"It is safe to assume my parents would be arriving in a few weeks the same as sapphire."

"You seem oddly concerned about Sapphire for someone who claimed that she is okay with me taking a second wife." Cedric could not help but sneer, sensing the disdain when she called Sapphire names. It felt like she was always saying the opposite of what she wanted.

"It must be your illusion. " She stated, getting back on her feet. "I am glad you had a safe journey back. Please have a good night Cedric." She declared wanting to flee for her life. There was still such a thick sexual tension that she forgot the reason she was there. At least she confirmed the information she needed about her family.

Cedric didn’t seem that mad at her due to the rumours. If he did, he would not be staring at her like some starved beast, and she was the lamb at his mercy.

"Where are you going to sleep?" Cedric asked; Abrielle stopped, remembering that she destroyed her room when she was raging. It wasn’t surprising that he heard about it.

"A temporary room was arranged for me. That would do." She answered. Earlier, she lost herself after her anger quelled. She was completely stunned because it wasn’t her nature. It felt more like what the original Abrielle would do.

It felt like her character was being influenced by the actual Abrielle. "How about you spend the night here?" He suggested and it sounded more like he was subjecting her to a prison Sentence.

"It is fine, I will be able to manage." She gave him a forced smile, then turned to leave the room. "I insist, I promise not to do anything you won’t like. Just to sleep, the bed in your room was customized to your peculiar need, and I doubt you will be able to sleep on the other mattresses "It was just a silly excuse. He just wanted to lie next to her close to her warmth.

Abrielle was suspicious of his hidden ulterior motives. Her mind immediately thought this was a bad idea to share a bed with a horny man who had been starved of sex for weeks.

Her gaze dulled as a fleeting thought ran through her head wondering if Cedric ever thought of Callista when he was with her. Bringing her to the edge and feeling things she normally would not imagine.

Was she a substitute? "I will be able to manage. I don’t want to inconvenience your sleep. I have bad sleeping habits." She made an excuse.

"I don’t mind. It is getting late, and we should get to bed." He answered, lying down on the bed. Abrielle glanced at the door. It wasn’t far away, and she could just leave.

She released a sharp breath, clenching and unclenching her hands. That was risky; Cedric was an unhinged psychopath; only the goddess knew what he might do if she disobeyed or when his psycho switch flipped.

It was even more dangerous to share the bed with him. Every choice seems like a bad one. She just had to choose a poison. "I need to sleep, I have a busy day tomorrow." She reluctantly said, turning towards the bed.

It was fleeting but she felt his eyes flickered with excitement. Maybe she should give him a moment like this, but she doubted he might remember it when she was gone. The day draws closer every second.

The bed sunk by Cedric’s side, and her familiar rose-strawberry scent that reminds him of spring drew closer. The flowers were yet to bloom but she gave him a glimpse of bloom.

Abrielle lay on the farthest end of the bed, facing the wall in front of her m. This was a bad idea, she reminded herself; she clutched her dress close to her chest. Maybe she agreed because a part of her missed him. She was forbidden to have affection for him if she wanted to survive.

She felt his warmth come close, her heart slowing down as his arm crept around her waist and he pulled her closer to his chest. This was too close but she dared not complain. She bit her cheeks with her eyes pressed together.

She felt his bulge behind her, which made this more uncomfortable. Her body stiffened, and his hand slowly crept under her dress. "I thought you said.."

Cedric: "Hush, just try to relax. I said I won’t do anything you would not like, not I won’t touch you." He shushed, she felt like a fool for believing him in the first place.

His touch was hard to ignore, why did it always give her those unique sparks? Cedric stopped on her stomach, his fingers drawing small circles, which oddly felt comforting, and she subconsciously leaned closer, making him smile at her actions.

"Good night," he whispered softly like a lullaby and like magic, her eyes grew heavy, dreamland calling her. Cedric continued caressing her stomach after her breathing grew steady.

The room was quiet. Cedric’s mood suddenly swung, but fortunately, it wasn’t villainess’s fault. Cedric sank into deep thoughts that distracted him from the maddening need in his loins. She was so close.

He had to distract himself not to disturb her peaceful sleep.

"How did Callista get my letter?" He muttered asking himself.
