Chapter 186: Trip to Vesper 2

Their trip back to the Capital was peaceful, they had embarked on the journey in the early hours of the morning and arrived at the seaside castle where Cedric was resident late in the afternoon.

Abrielle had lunch as soon as they arrived while Cedric had to leave the castle immediately to handle some important matters relating to his upcoming trip. He had a lot to handle, especially now Lucian was still recovering, although news had it he would be back in prime health in a few days, the same as Callista.

They both overworked themselves the day of the fire due to the developments the investigation relating to the winter hunt and the sorcerers were put on hold.

At times, she felt bad for Cedric; he was a devil set out to make her life a living hell, that’s for sure, but it was a bit sad knowing despite all his efforts and contributions to the kingdom, he was never appreciated for it.

Only the clanking sounds of crockeries and cutleries could be heard in the dining room as Abrielle ate her lunch lightly chewing her food. She missed the meals she had back on earth and wished Darconia delicacy were more spicy, but unfortunately,, she was stuck eating this.

The journey from Vatalis to Vesper took 3 - 2 weeks, meaning to and fro was going to be over a month. "He is going to be gone for over 6 weeks," Abrielle muttered; it might be 2 months, and Cedric will have to stay in Vesper for some days going to weeks due to his assignment.

Abrielle dropped her cutleries and then picked up the napkin to dab her lips. "What about dessert?" The server asked her. Abrielle did not have the best appetite; she didn’t feel like having any more.

"I will pass on it. I am exhausted and need to rest after my trip." She informed the servant. Abrielle rose from her seat and made her way out of the dining room.

She arrived at her chambers, and the first thing that caught her attention was the meowing sounds of an angry fellow who was mad at its owner who abandoned it for weeks.

The winter prayer lasted over a week. Abrielle’s eyes darted to Yuki, who was running towards her; a soft smile graced her lips as soon as she saw her favourite fur ball. Yuki jumped into her arms once he got into her reach and she embraced him.

He was upset, and Abrielle, sensing his foul mood, apologized to appease him. "It’s not my fault, but Cedric’s. He is the true villain." She informed the cat of the true culprit. Knowing Cedric’s deeds, the fur ball’s dislike for his master’s husband tripled.

Abrielle carried Yuki to her bedroom where he was pried out of her hands because she had to prepare for bed early. The cat watched at the sidelines while she changed from the several layers of thick clothes to something more comfortable.

Time went by, and the maids were done, aside from Zoltana, who was braiding her hair. Abrielle’s ginger hair was extremely soft to the touch; despite its rare colour, she had very lovely hair that sparkled under the lights.

"I am done, Your Highness," Zoltana Informed her as soon as she was done with the last braid. Abrielle admired her work in the mirror and was proud of Zoltana’s skills. "They are beautiful." She praised.

"I am glad you love them. Your hair is full and easy to braid that’s while they came out perfectly." Zoltana accepted the praise while using the opportunity to praise the princess’s hair.

"Your Highness, do you mind if I ask a question?" She requested Abrielle had a good feeling about what Zoltana was curious about. "Ask away," she gave permission and the maid nodded.

"I am curious concerning your pregnancy. Were there any hints that you were carrying a baby before and after the accident?" She asked exactly what the princess suspected.

"No, there wasn’t; I didn’t know I had another life in me until that incident." She answered. Zoltana’s brows furrowed; there were no physical signs. Maybe it was because the pregnancy was early.

"I understand. Sorry for your loss."

"It is fine, that is all in the past now we just have to look forward to the future now." Abrielle shrugged.

"I will take my leave now. Try to rest, your journey was exhausting. Then later, we can talk about your training; I was able to obtain something of use to you." Zoltana bowed and then retreated from the room, taking Yuki with her.

It was already evening the sun was going to set any moment from now. Abrielle got up from the stool she sat on, then walked towards the bed, which she climbed over and quickly made herself comfortable.

She was under the sheets as her mind wandered around. She had to make good use of the period Cedric was going to be away and maybe plan her escape.

Eleanor planned on executing her in spring which was not far away. Maybe running away was the best option. She needed money to be able to survive and successfully escape.

Abrielle eventually fell asleep while thinking of her plan. She was so exhausted she slept through the night missing dinner.

The door creaked open making slight creaking sounds. The person at the door was being careful to avoid being too loud. He got into the room that was lit by the burning fireplace and smelled just like spices.

Cedric sighed, he knew she was asleep. He wanted to see her before he left the capital very early tomorrow before the sun hit the lights. He walked up to her bed and climbed over to lie by her side watching her sleep.

He had her under an incantation which would prevent her from waking up. "You look even more harmless when you are asleep." He mentioned in a low tone.

Her face was relaxed and she was likely having a good dream that he would be gone. "I am going to miss you but I doubt you will feel the same. The more I know you, the more confused I get, Abrielle. What are you doing to me?"
