Chapter 182: A villain’s fate
He was glad the baby died. Why did it feel like her heart was being ripped by what she knew already? Why did it hurt so much? She should not care. Abrielle told herself over and over again. After all, it was the same thing she wanted.
"You were glad I lost the baby," she repeated; a part of her hoped maybe he would take the word back, but he didn’t. "More than everything. You can’t carry my child, Abrielle; we will just have to be careful next time not to..." Cedric’s words were cut off. The sharp sound of skin striking against each other echoed and time seemed to have stopped.
Abrielle had slapped him, she could not control her rage but slap him. Was she crazy to have done that knowing the type of person he was? Cedric was stunned by the look in her eyes. He has never seen her that angry before.
But why was she angry in the first place? They both wanted the same thing, and it wasn’t the child, although the thought of truly having a family that was his seemed endearing, he could not.
Who knew what the pregnancy could do to her? She was so young and he did not want another child like him without a mother. He killed his mother, and with the way the pregnancy was tasking her at the early stage, the baby might have done the same.
This was not something hard to explain, but one was a prince who didn’t know how to express himself properly in words, and the other was a wife who could not look beyond the plot.
"If you don’t want me to carry your child so badly then don’t come to me to help your aching loins. I am not a pit you can dump your seeds in without considering the repercussions." Abrielle spat at him. He didn’t show any remorse. His face was calm despite his cheeks stung a bit.
She was right. Maybe he should keep away from her, but his member only ached for her now. How could he be part of her silk folds that felt like his home? Having sex has repercussions. This was his cruel fate; finally, when it seemed he could find someone who was meant to make him whole, the entire universe was against him.
She hates him, and his actions are not helping the situation. Every sign kept on telling him no, including the voice, and now there was the large possibility of her dying not by his hands but because of his spawn.
His unborn child was indeed a little devil’s spawn. Before departing the inn, Cedric had spoken to the doctor who explained how Abrielle’s health could not handle carrying his child. The truth was that her body killed the baby because it was draining too much; it felt more like a parasite than a baby.
If it wasn’t a miscarriage, the possibility of him being forced to choose between the mother or child would have been the chase and call him heartless or whatever. He would have chosen the mother over the baby at a beat.
"When we get back to the capital, I will speak to the physician about birth control potions. I heard Heliosia produced them." Cedric answered her, avoiding her gaze. A weak smile graced Abrielle’s face.
This was what she wanted, wasn’t it? She needed to get her thoughts together. None of this matters but the fact she had just a few months to stay by his side before Eleanor’s plans took place.
There was a faint knock on the door followed by the voice of a servant informing them the wedding was about to start. "We should get going,". Cedric mentioned giving her his hand she reluctantly accepted.

The main temple auditorium at Mount Lunarias was not as magnificent as the one Cedric and Abrielle got married in at Vesper but it was still magnificent.
Being wedded under the stars was truly dreamy; the temple wasn’t lit by candles for the special occasion but by magic stones that shone by absorbing the moonlight, giving the room a soft, magical feeling.
The stones were mainly blue in colour. combined with the glass roof that hung over the front of the hall; it was truly entrancing. Abrielle could not enjoy this view because she was still troubled by the conversation she had with Cedric.
They were seated on the bride’s side of the family; although the wedding was on short notice, Ryker still had a couple of diplomats from Galvia who were in the capital attend the wedding.
Sapphire was present and her gaze didn’t stray away from Cedric’s direction, something the prince tried to ignore. He knew Abrielle felt it but his wife was always nonchalant about things like this.
Soon, the soft music started to play, and the curtains opened, revealing the stunning bride in white. Ophelia was beautiful without a doubt and her presence did steal the breath of the on-lookers.
She and Ryker were side characters, which didn’t have much relevance to the plot, so Abrielle truly didn’t know what their fate was after the wedding.
The wedding proceeded without an issue and soon they tied the knot together. A marriage only broken by death seemed more like a curse than a blessing.
The wedding feast was a grand event. Abrielle didn’t even attend her own feast, thanks to Cedric, but she loved the vibes of this one. It was a bit peaceful despite the fact she sat beside the devil the entire time and they didn’t exchange a word.
There were thick clouds of tension that surrounded them. "We should join the dance floor." Cedric finally said, putting down his wine glass. "I don’t feel like it," Abrielle answered, taking a sip of her wine.
Cedric grabbed the glass from her hold, earning a glare from her. Her face was already a bit flushed; she had taken a bit too much wine, and this was starting to get noticed by others. "It wasn’t a suggestion, you need to stop drinking and try to enjoy the night."
Abrielle scoffed at him, "I will enjoy the night better if you leave and maybe entangle with other guests, that is the only way I can enjoy the night." She was still trying to tick him off even in her drunken state.
Cedric got up from his seat. Abrielle released a breath of relief that he was finally gone, but her victory was short-lived. She was so rudely yanked off her seat and pulled towards the dance floor.
