The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband -
Chapter 107: Another Villainess
Chapter 107: Another Villainess
Queen Eleanore, the queen of Darconia. In the original book was the second villainess of the book. Although Abrielle and Eleanore were both haters of the female lead and occasionally got involved in the same schemes without knowing they were not friends.
They did have a common enemy but different goals. Abrielle wanted Callista gone to keep her husband to herself, while the Queen wanted Callista gone because she felt the priestess was not worthy of staying by her son’s side.
Eleanore was a mother of three, Lucian and Astrid the royal twins being her first. She was a good queen but a scheming woman who did what she had to get what she wanted.
The perfect example of the enemy of your enemy wasn’t your friend. Abrielle and Eleanore slowly made their way down the halls to the stairs that lead to a higher floor where the green garden for the tea would be her while chit-chatting in a low tone.
"I don’t hold any grudge against Callista. I think it is a misunderstanding. She was flustered, and I was emotionally scared of the large crowd." Abrielle chimed with a soft smile, one thing she was aware of wasn’t to work with the queen that sent witches after. She was still traumatized by Sarah’s case.
Eleanore still had her smile on despite technically failing to convince Abrielle towards hating Callista further and using her to get rid of Callista. She wanted to use someone to do the dirty work for her.
"That wasn’t what it seemed to me, If you closely analyze it from the beginning when the wine was spilt on her to the point she ran out, it felt like a misunderstanding, not to forget the point she asked your husband for the first dance," Eleanore explained, in her opinion, she was twisting the truth to favour herself. Unknown to her, it was indeed the truth.
Abrielle’s brows furrowed, "Callista was the one that asked Cedric to dance," she was a bit stunned and Eleanore saw it as an opportunity.
"Yes, she was; after pestering Lucian and he had refused, she approached Cedric, who agreed. I honestly don’t know what is wrong with that boy to give his first dance to someone who wasn’t his wife. If I were the one I would have matched straight to that dance floor and slapped her straight in the face." Eleanore scoffed very irritated
"Maybe they were talking concerning the investigation they were working on together." Abrielle tried to incline more towards Callista to hide the animosity she secretly felt for the female lead. She was trying her best not to hate Callista saying everything was a misunderstanding.
That aside, why was she mad that Callista danced with Cedric? She wasn’t mad and should be careful. It wasn’t that she liked her husband in any way. She kept on reminding herself more like she was convincing herself to believe those words.
She was only concerned because the more Cedric fell for his lover, the more risk her life would be put into.
Eleanore’s expression was still serene, Abrielle might be acting smart and saying the right words, but her body language gave her out to Eleanore, who was a master schemer. The way her hands clenched her dress and her smile that was forced gave it all out.
They arrived at a beautiful door that was pushed open, leading to an indoor garden, a greenhouse that had exotic plants the queen had imported from overseas. Abrielle could hear light chatter from the entrance.
As soon as Abrielle stepped into the room the blue screen appeared in front of her.
HIDDEN QUEST
QUEST: SAVE THE QUEEN LIFE IN THE FEMALE LEAD STEAD
REWARD: REDUCE THREAT TARGETED AT YOUR LIFE
FAILURE: HUMILIATION
Abrielle’s jaw clenched as her eyes darted from the screen, only visible to her to the ladies already seated in comfy seats for the tea party.
Another scene of the novel was about to happen where the female lead tried to gain the queen’s favour. Although Eleanore hostility is reduced a bit towards Callista, she doesn’t still approve of her relationship with Lucian until later in the book. Eleanore is no longer a threat.
It was a failed poisoning attempt on the Queen’s life. She didn’t want to get involved in the harem’s drama because saving the queen would gain her a new enemy. King Kaiden Von Drakkar had 4 wives, including Eleanore, who gave birth a year after the king’s second wife.
Eleanore was a mother of 3 children, a boy and two daughters. The second wife, Lady Sapphire, Cedric’s mother, died at childbirth. Lady Karissa, the former Princess of a neighbouring kingdom who was married for a peace treaty, Karissa had just a son Who was Alfonso. The fourth wife was considered Kaiden’s favourite because she was a mother to 4 girls, Lady Marinette.
One of these women was responsible for the attempted poisoning. It was obviously not Sapphire because, by now, her bones had already rotted 6 feet below.
Eleanor took her seat in the front while she offered one close by to Abrielle. Abrielle walked to the middle of the crowd and then curtseyed to the ladies. "It’s an honour to be in the presence of such distinguished ladies of the esteemed royal family." She greeted earning a smile from the ladies as they accepted the greeting even if it wasn’t from their heart.
She took her seat afterwards, "It’s also an honour to meet you. If you don’t know, I am Astrid, the eldest princess." A stunning lady who bore a deep resemblance with Queen Eleanore. Raven, with black hair and abstract grey eyes with refined graces, introduced herself.
"Nice to meet your acquaintance," Abrielle chimed sweetly to the princess, who was rumoured to have a crush on her stepbrother. Astrid was very beautiful; why would she be attracted to a piece of work like Cedric, who was even her step-sibling?
Abrielle could not wrap her head around it but she instinctively didn’t like this princess that took the initiative to introduce herself to Abrielle. She felt like Astrid still held a certain hostility towards her.
The main door opened again, and a familiar silver hair stepped with a reserved aura. She shyly made her way to the ladies. It was quite funny how the queen doesn’t like Callista and yet she was invited.
"May the luck shine on the moon and stars of the kingdom of Darconia." Callista curtseyed as she greeted the queen and the other royal members. The queen gave her permission to rise, which she did.
May the drama begin.
