Chapter 40: Class Division Exam [32]

ACT 7 : THE ALMIGHTY ONE

Magic is a pretty interesting thing.

What exactly does it mean?

What exactly comes to your mind, when you think of magic?

Is it flashy attack spells, or beautiful mana particles, creating patterns, so mesmerizing, that you might think you are in heaven?

Is it something like mind control, or mind reading, or anything related to the mind, like creating illusions?

Or maybe, magical creatures, like dragons, vampires, demons, elves?

Maybe all of it comes to mind, when someone thinks of magic.

Yet, what does it truly mean?

For instance, if a neanderthal or a man from the same era, saw a mobile phone, he might think of it as magic too.

His perception of our world, would be a magical wonderland, where someone can hear the other even if they are miles and miles apart.

Eventually, it all comes down to perception.

Magic is something, which defies what we naturally believe.

We naturally believe that water flows downstream.

But, if it flows upstream somewhere somehow, it’s magic for us.

However, with the use of common terms like, ’mana’, and ’magic’, in fantasy stories, our perception of magic has come down to those things that I mentioned at first.

There is a particular system of magic, developed by the author, for worldbuilding, and levelling up for the main character.

Similarly, the web novel world, I had reincarnated in also has such a system of magic and rankings.

It was only recently, that I got to know about it, after reading the novel, inside my small hut, that I built at the edge of the forest.

Those are basically called chakras.

Not in the spiritual yoga sense that Earth spoke of—but as literal energy centers embedded within the human body, acting as gates that regulate the flow of mana, will, and intention.

And the key to magic in this world?

It wasn’t about how much mana you had.

It was about how efficiently you channeled it through those gates.

Each awakened chakra added exponential control over one’s spells, techniques, and body enhancement. The system was layered—deceptively simple on the outside, but terrifyingly complex the deeper you dug.

The chakra system was fused into the Mana Tiering Structure, divided into:

Dormant Stage – Where most commoners remain their entire lives. Mana is passive, latent.

Awakening Stage – First chakra opens; users begin to feel and sense mana around them.

Channeling Stage – Second and third chakras open. Mana can be directed into basic techniques. Most first-year students are at the early Channeling stage.

Wielding Stage – Fourth and fifth chakras open. Spells evolve. Emotions fuel magic here—dangerously so.

Transcendental Stage – Sixth chakra opens. Magic becomes a language; will can alter the laws of physics slightly. Only a handful in the continent have reached this.

Almighty Stage – Seventh chakra awakens. This is where gods are born. Magic no longer abides by form, element, or reason. Only myth speaks of users who stood at this level.

But unlocking chakras wasn’t the only thing that determined power.

There was also the concept of Mana Techniques—each a style, a school of thought, a legacy. These were further classified by rank:

Common-Grade Techniques – Basic elemental spells taught at academies. Fireballs, healing runes, minor enchantments.

Rare-Grade Techniques – Personal spellforms or family-taught rituals. Requires chakra stability to use.

Epic-Grade Techniques – Techniques that blend mana with emotion, instinct, or elemental resonance. Can change the outcome of large-scale battles.

Mythic-Grade Techniques – Few even know of these. Reality-warping. Often sealed, forbidden, or lost. Requires at least the fifth chakra to use safely.

And here’s the real twist.

Each noble family had their own inherited techniques—passed down through bloodlines, refined for generations, woven into their very souls.

The Rowan Family, for example—Alicia’s bloodline—specializes in Celestial Thread Magic. A technique where mana forms glowing threads used to slice, bind, or even rewrite the flow of another’s spell. Defensive, strategic, absolute.

The Croft Family, Monica’s lineage, was feared for their Solar Beast Arts—a primal fusion of beastification and fire-wielding. Their elites could transform into flame-forged creatures with enhanced speed and regeneration.

Then there were the Valens—my family.

Once known for the Crimson Pact Arts.

A technique that fused blood magic with ancient contract spells. Dangerous, unpredictable, and eventually outlawed. The higher nobles feared its growth—because it made servants into soldiers, and enemies into cursed fuel.

But now, that legacy sleeps. The Valens fell out of favor long ago.

And I?

I was the forgotten heir of a forgotten art.

But that’s the beauty of reincarnation.

Because I remember things even the Valens never uncovered.

Hidden techniques. Forbidden rituals. Sealed Chapters.

And I plan to revive it all.

Why?

Because I need power.

To fight back.

To win.

To rewrite fate.

The Radiata One showed me what walking on the third chakra meant. Her body was no longer mortal—it had become a medium for her will. Blood, mist, and memory all bent around her intent.

If I was to surpass her...

I would need more than just strength.

The Radiata One, heaved deeply as she crouched on the ground, with an ecstatic expression on her face.

Ready to counterattack at any moment.

Meanwhile, Monica, now in a golden beast form, was also wounded beyond imagination.

Her attack and defense was good, as the laser beam, sending a wave of electric energy in her opponent’s direction, and a shield of an electric sphere, nullifying other magics.

That was what I had read before , about her.

Although her attacks, did damage that vampire a lot, but she got wounded too, despite having that shield around her.

It was truly surprising for me too.

That Radiata One used blood manipulation technique, which belongs to the vampires, originally.

In the earlier events, Monica did encounter some vampires, and successfully subjugated them, with her beast form.

But now, it seems, her defense has become useless.

Both were now waiting for the other to make a move, while I stood, prepared for combat at any moment.

It might seem like, we have an advantage, outnumbering her.

But that’s wrong.

First of all, she still can fight both of us, and seriously kill us.

And, in the best case, if we are able to subjugate her, then that’s not like it’s all over.

Because, I am pretty sure, she has accomplices in this dungeon itself, otherwise, she wouldn’t have attacked students unilaterally.

If her accomplishes prove to be similar in power as her, then we are pretty much screwed here.

That’s why, I opened my status window to confirm something.

The part I was focused on was the last skill, I got after lots of practice to channel my mana through my chakras, apparently I have opened 2 chakras, which is normal for a first year student from a noble family.

Crimson Pact Arts.

A terrifying mana technique, once it is used properly.

In the later parts, when Dorian becomes the patriarch of his Family, at a young age, he was able to awaken it properly.

Thus, he was able to enact such vile acts.

And now I will try to do, what he did exactly, to awaken that ability.
