The Villain Who Stole Hearts
Chapter 134: Sierra’s Doubt & Veil’s Next Move

Chapter 134: Sierra’s Doubt & Veil’s Next Move

"Did Veil just... blow himself up?!"

Sierra stared, momentarily stunned by the situation unraveling in front of her.

She had planned every step carefully—threaten Veil, corner him emotionally, force him to feel pressure, then steer the conversation away so Harvey could exit gracefully.

Once that was done, as long as she kept her mouth shut, who else would dare to challenge Veil? Her father? A few of Caspian’s former secretaries? No one would risk crossing him.

No one would ever know about Veil’s connection to Caspian.

All that effort, all that scheming—just to corner Veil, force him to admit to his past wrongdoings, and make him apologize.

And now?

Veil had just... confessed?

He not only admitted to his relationship with Caspian but also flat-out declared that he’d hired the assassin.

"What... what the hell are you talking about?!"

Sierra shouted at Veil, furious. In her eyes, he must’ve snapped—dumping every possible crime onto himself in a panic.

She instinctively glanced at Harvey, trying to read her reaction.

But Harvey looked just as shocked—clearly thrown off by Veil’s explosive self-incrimination.

"I’ve said everything I should say," Veil sneered, his voice low and cold. "And things I shouldn’t have said, too." His gaze locked onto Sierra. "The world always goes easier on beautiful women—no matter the world, no matter the circumstances. If it weren’t for your face, you’d already be paying for what you tried to do today."

His stare was sharp, predatory, like a wolf sizing up its prey.

Beauty?

Yes, Sierra was stunning. Otherwise, how could she have landed the lead female role in Caden Voss’s story?

But the reason Veil was sparing her life wasn’t just her looks. It was the fact that, despite everything, she hadn’t gone off the deep end today. She hadn’t tried to destroy him—just corner him, force an apology.

Even calling Harvey in had been part of the pressure game—not a death sentence.

She’d left him a way out. She hadn’t gone for the kill.

If she had tried to destroy him?

Well... even the most beautiful woman in the world would be a corpse.

His words were brutal—praise laced with poison. A slap in the face, followed by a piece of candy.

He’d crushed her—but not all the way.

What happened next would depend on Sierra herself.

"Let’s go."

Veil turned and walked off like nothing had happened, completely ignoring Harvey.

Kai followed behind, muttering under his breath as he processed Veil’s "lesson" of the day.

"So... the colder you are when you’re threatened, the more women become obsessed with you?"

...

Veil and Kai left. Another female bodyguard, sensing things were going south, had already slipped away.

Now only Harvey and Sierra remained, staring at each other in the silence of the room.

Sierra’s mind was in overdrive, trying to figure out how to spin this, how to bury this mess before it blew up in their faces.

She knew Harvey’s personality—unyieldingly righteous. The kind of person who would throw herself into danger just to stop injustice.

If this situation wasn’t handled properly, Veil would be in serious trouble.

At the very least, he’d be under constant surveillance.

Veil was reckless—he’d admit to anything, say anything without hesitation. What if he pushed things even further?

Of course, Sierra told herself she wasn’t worried about Veil. She just wanted that damn apology. If he got arrested now, she might never get it.

If someone was going to drag him down, it should be after he apologized.

Still caught in her mental storm, she hadn’t figured out what excuse to give when Harvey spoke up first.

"Sierra... this whole thing isn’t what you think. I think you may have misunderstood Veil."

She hesitated, uncertain, watching Harvey’s face.

"If we look at the situation from start to finish, then yes—Veil was involved in Caspian’s death. But what he did? It wasn’t evil. It was actually... a good thing."

Even now, Harvey wasn’t exactly fond of Veil.

But fair was fair.

If Veil hadn’t intervened, with Caspian surrounded by top-tier bodyguards day and night, her sister would never have gotten the chance for revenge—not even in ten years.

"What...?"

Sierra blinked, thrown completely off track. She hadn’t even had time to make up a defense, and now Harvey was dropping bombs of her own.

Harvey pulled out her private phone and sent Sierra a file.

Ding!

Sierra picked up her phone and looked at the notification. A file transfer.

"What is this, Harvey?"

"Some case files about Caspian. Give it a minute—it’s a lot of data, might take a while to load."

A few moments later, Sierra finished skimming through the file. Her bright eyes filled with fury.

"That bastard Caspian was the kind of scumbag who murdered his wife and abandoned his daughter?!"

She couldn’t believe it. Caspian—always the gentleman in public, always proper, always polite—had been that kind of monster?

A vain, greedy man who killed for gain and discarded his own blood?

She was livid.

As a woman, she felt it to her core. Monsters like him deserved to be hacked into pieces—and even that wouldn’t be enough.

"That daughter Caspian abandoned... she’s my sister," Harvey said quietly. "Until a few months ago, she was still overseas, living in pain. When she came back, a twist of fate led her to the truth. She wanted to kill him herself—but there were always guards. No chance.

"And me? I like to think I stand up for justice, but let’s be real—passion and good intentions don’t win wars. I couldn’t even get close to Caspian. None of this would’ve happened without Veil. Every move, every trap, even that real estate scheme? All Veil. He made the Ashfords cut Caspian loose. He planned every step.

"So yeah, Veil was involved. But Caspian’s death? That was my sister’s choice. And I... I let it happen. If that makes me guilty, then I’m one of the culprits too."

Harvey collapsed onto the couch, drained. Not sad over Caspian’s death—but over her own contradictions.

She always claimed to stand for justice. Yet here she was, secretly glad it ended this way. Deep down, she agreed with Veil and her sister.

"Harvey, no. You’re not wrong. Sometimes... when the system can’t punish evil, it takes something else—something unpredictable. Caspian’s death might actually be a good thing for society."

Harvey blinked, confused.

"Wait a minute. Didn’t you call me here to make Veil pay? Why do you sound... relieved? Almost happy he’s not to blame? Sierra... you don’t have a thing for Veil, do you?"

Sierra panicked, waving her hands.

"No! No way! Harvey, what are you talking about? I wanted you to throw him in jail—lock him up for ten years! But this situation is... complicated, okay? If Veil’s guilty, then you and your sister would be too, right?"

Uh...

Harvey didn’t know what to say.

Somehow, Sierra’s attempt to reassure her made things even worse.

"Anyway, you already burned that bridge with Veil today. He’s dangerous. Keep your distance. You’ll regret it if you don’t."

Harvey spoke with earnest seriousness.

She was living proof—she’d gone from wanting to arrest Veil to now defending him. That was how fast his world pulled people in.

Sierra nodded along, pretending to agree. But inside?

The exact opposite.

Stay away from Veil?

She’d never been screwed over this thoroughly in her life—and always by the same man.

One day, she would turn the tables. She’d find his weakness. Make him bow his head and apologize.

But this time?

Maybe she really had misunderstood him. Maybe she’d almost made a huge mess.

Her original plan wasn’t to expose him. She just wanted him to apologize for what he did to her recently.

But things had spiraled.

And instead of being a villain, Veil had actually done a good thing.

Compared to him, she looked immature—like the one out for petty revenge.

Maybe... she should apologize.

Not because she was curious whether Veil was angry or planning retaliation.

Just because—it was the right thing to do.

When you’re wrong, you own it. You pay for it. You make it right.

...

On the other side of town, after leaving the Davenport estate, Kai gripped the wheel with visible tension. Eventually, curiosity got the better of him.

"Young Master, should we assign someone to keep an eye on Miss Sierra? From the way she acted today, it didn’t seem like she really wanted to blow things up. If she did, she wouldn’t have covered for you—or kept certain things quiet."

"No need," Veil replied coolly. "Don’t waste the manpower. She’s not a threat. Not right now."

As far as he was concerned, the Sierra situation had already played itself out. The pieces were set, the outcomes inevitable. There was no point in hovering.

What would obsessing over her solve?

Like Kai said—if Sierra had truly wanted to go nuclear today, they wouldn’t be having this conversation.

"For now, head to Veyport University. Pick up Lyra. We’re paying a visit to Dorian Wilson at his mining site. One last round of negotiations. Let’s see if he’s changed his mind after everything he’s lost."

That conversation with the orphanage director had stirred something. A subtle but persistent warning bell.

Too many pieces were moving at once. The tempo was shifting—and Veil didn’t like that.

He needed to stay ahead of whatever was coming. Dorian Wilson had to be dealt with—now—before things spiraled into something irreversible.

Kai gave a silent nod, adjusted his grip, and turned the Bentley onto the freeway. The car swept through the city like a shadow, smooth and silent.

At the Veyport University main gate, the stunning professor Lyra slid into the passenger seat without a word, her gaze sharp as ever.

Then they were off—heading straight for the black-market mining site where Dorian Wilson was waiting.
