Chapter 88: The Ceremony (Part One)
The Shadow Hall was prepared for the ceremony by the servants while Annalise remained sleeping on the obsidian table, shadows lurking around her that were linked with Damien’s powers as he kept a connection between himself and the woman.
The High Priestess arrived soon, followed by the Queen who had surely heard about their return as soon as they entered the realm. While the former made her way to the obsidian table, the latter headed directly in the direction of the three Dark Lords.
"Mother..."
The three men spoke in unison as they greeted the Queen of the Midnight Realm, their mother.
"Are you sure about this?" The Queen asked as she kept her gaze trained on Damien, her obsidian eyes staring deep into his soul as she wanted to listen to the truth only and she probably found it as her eyes widen for a moment before her expression returned to normal.
"Looks like you have finally found the one for you." She spoke as she turned to look at Annalise, her sharp and experienced eyes judging the unconscious girl. "But she’s a weak one. She will be saved today here, but you will need to hone her powers." She turned her attention back to her sons as she continued, "Remember, your chosen mate will also become the future queen of this realm, she needs to be someone of at least the same level as yours if not more powerful. Her Seelie blood will already raise many questions but if she turned out to be a weak one, you will even end up losing your right to the throne too." The last words were directed at Valerius.
The three Princes nodded their heads in understanding as they knew just how serious their mother was and exactly how true her words were.
The queen let out a small breath and gave a small nod as she spoke, her attention back to Damien. "Go and get ready for the ceremony, it will begin shortly. Your wife doesn’t have much time left, we need to hurry."
Damien nodded his head before he teleported away to his bed-chamber, a place he had not been to in centuries but it still appeared as freshly furnished as it always used to be, everything was exactly like how he left it.
He didn’t have much time to look around as he grabbed the clothes that the servants had prepared for him and went to get ready for the ceremony.

In less than ten minutes, the ceremony started as the High Priestess took her place in front of the obsidian altar on the other side of the obsidian table. A ring of five elements - air, water, fire, earth, and shadow, surrounded the altar as their combined powers fueled the energy that resided in the hall.
Damien stood next to Annalise’s sleeping form while his brothers stood at the side with their mother. They were the only people present there to witness the moment that was actually a huge deal for the entire Midnight Realm but none were aware of it.
Just like him, Annalise was also wearing a black dress that matched with his. Golden embroidery covered her dress in several places just like it did on his clothes. He stroked his thumb across her frozen cheek, feeling just how low her energy level was. It seemed like just a few more minutes and she would no longer be with them.
Her powers had almost faded, recoiled to some really deep level inside her as it tried to stay away from the dark energy that was now only a couple of minutes away from reaching her heart. He needed to get that dark energy out of her body before it would reach her heart.
The High Priestess took out the shadow crystal and shoved it into the air where it hovered over their heads, Damien and Annalise’s. She closed her eyes as she spread her arms, her lips moving as she started chanting some ancient spell.
Damien took hold of Annalise’s hand, his fingers squeezing hers as he felt his soul reaching out to her, feeling her fading away with each passing minute. He closed his eyes and searched for her which proved to be harder as he had no connection with her soul at this point.
Then, he felt Valerius and Kenric’s energy leading him, his brothers coming to his aide as compared to him they had a better connection with Annalise and her soul would react to them way quicker than reacting to him.
Their combined energy search for her and he found himself roaming through a very familiar place but one that he hadn’t seen ever before. It was a chamber he didn’t recognize but one made of obsidian and moonstones, the two stones that carried completely opposite energy.
And he found her there, sitting next to a pool filled with deep blue water and surrounded by various flowers that were growing on its edges. A soft breeze lingered in the chamber filled with the aroma of the flowers and there were fire butterflies flying around the place.
It was a place with all the elements present there and while he understood the presence of all of them, he couldn’t understand the meaning behind the moonstone until... his eyes connected with hers. The moonstones represented her - the pure energy, the light.
"You are here." She spoke, her voice soft and filled with warmth as she stood up and walked towards him. He was so transfixed that he was unable to move at all so he just stood there and watched her approach.
"What is this place? It’s so beautiful and... warm." He couldn’t believe that someone like her, a Seelie blood, just called the chamber a place filled with warmth because it was a place filled with the darkness of the Midnight Realm even though it looked nothing like it.
"Princess." He finally spoke as he took hold of her hands and pulled her even more close to him. He couldn’t recall if he had ever talked to someone in such a warm voice. "Are you aware that we are going to get married?"
