Chapter 363: Magical Meadow
Chapter 363: Magical Meadow
"Princess?"
"Hmm?"
Annalise responded when she heard the familiar voice of Damien in her mind but she couldn’t speak as she was still focusing on directing her powers.
"You need to open your eyes nad see." Came Damien’s resonse almost immediately and the urgency in his tone was more than enough to make Annalise immediately open her eyes.
For some reason, she was expecting to see somehing bad, maybe because of how urgent Damien sounded, but what greeted her eyes was nothing but pure beauty.
She couldnt hold back the gasp that escaped her lips as her eyes took in the area inside the dome that was no longer filled with sand. Instead, it was filled with the life that she requested fom her elements. Still, what her eyes were seeing was still way too much than what her brain initially imagined. The reviously brren land had now turned into a beautiful meadow.
The vast expanse of the dome was carpeted with a lush, vibrant tapestry of wildflowers. The air was alive with the sweet fragrance of blooming daisies, lavender, and goldenrod, intermingling with the subtle earthy scent of fresh grass.
The meadow was adorned with an array of colors, with patches of crimson poppies, delicate pink and white clovers, and the bold hues of purple lupines. Butterflies and bees flit gracefully from one flower to another, adding a lively dance of colors to the scene. The sunlight poured generously onto the landscape, casting a warm, golden glow that highlighted every blade of grass and every petal in exquisite detail.
At a little distance from where Annalise was standing, there was also a small pond, its crystal-clear water created a soothing melody as they trickle over smooth pebbles. The gentle rustling of leaves in the soft breeze provided a tranquil backdrop, harmonizing with the distant occasional buzzing of insects. A few tall, sturdy oak trees stood as silent sentinels on the edges of the meadow, their sprawling branches offering a cool respite from the warmth of the sun, not like the protective shield built of shadow and darkness was not already doing a superb job at keeping the harsh sunlight from entering the dome.
"This is beautiful," Annalise found herself whispering as she took in thge miracle that her powers had created.
"This is insane." These words belongedto Kenric who seemed to be on the edge of freaking out.
Annalise felt like chukling at her husband’s shocked state but soon realized that her body no longer had enough energy to even smile. It happened so suddenly, one moment she was standing there completely fine and the very next moment, her body was overtaken by the gravity as she fell on the ground covered in grass and darkness tried to take over her conciousness.
As she fell into the embrace of unconsciousness, the world around her seemed to fade away into a haze of fleeting images and muffled sounds. She felt the gentle sway of Damien’s presence nearby, his voice murmuring reassuringly in the back of her mind. But even his comforting words were distant echoes in the midst of the encroaching darkness.
In her subconscious state, memories from the past started to resurface, like fragments of a dream long forgotten. She remembered the first time she discovered her affinity for the elements, how the world had seemed to shift and dance at her fingertips. The memories of her husbands and friends flickered through her mind. All the memories of her training throughout the past several months overtook her.
Then, as if by some unseen force, her memories shifted to the early days of her marriage with her husbands, the warmth of their smiles, the steadiness of their presence, and the shared dreams of a future that seemed to stretch out endlessly before them. The rush of emotions overwhelmed her, mingling with the darkness that threatened to consume her.
Suddenly, amidst the jumble of memories, a voice cut through the fog, crisp and clear. It was Valerius’ voice, filled with urgency and determination. "Annalise, are you alright? Love? Can you hear me?"
His strong arms pulled her into his warm embrace and she felt the presence of all three of her husbands around her. Their hands were touching her and their soft voices were trying to grab her attention but she was too lost to respond to their desperate calls.
"Princess, try to push against the negative energy. It’s a backlash from all the magic you have used today. If you gave in now to this darkness, your powers will take you as a weak weilder. So, fight... fight and stay awake."
Damien’s words resonated within her, stirring a sense of determination Annalise thought she had lost. Slowly, she began to push against the weight that held her down, the darkness relenting bit by bit, giving way to a glimmer of light. With a surge of energy, she forced her eyes open, gasping for air as she found herself back in the meadow, surrounded by the vibrant life she had created... and her husbands.
Kenric and Damien were kneeling beside her, their expressions a mix of relief and concern. And Valerius was the one holding her in his arms with her back resting against his chest.
"Little Bird, you scared me. Are you alright?" Kenric’s voice was soft, filled with a tenderness that eased the lingering fear within her.
"I... I think I’m okay," she managed to whisper, her voice weak but determined. Slowly, she attempted to sit up, feeling the cool grass beneath her hands. The meadow seemed even more alive now, buzzing with the gentle hum of nature’s symphony. A soft breeze ruffled her hair, bringing with it the subtle scent of the wildflowers that enveloped her.
She felt Esmeray’s presence nearby, a silent support that she had grown accustomed to over the months. "You did it, Annalise. You brought life to this barren land. This is a testament to the strength you possess within. You have successfully passed the trials today with flying colors. You performed way beyond our expectations. You surpassed them in the best way possible."
Annalise took a moment to absorb the enormity of what she had achieved. The meadow before her was a living testament to the power of her abilities, a testament to the legacy she had received from the late light fae queen.
She glanced at her husbands, who were still gazing at her with a mixture of awe and concern, and she couldn’t help but smile weakly.
"Are the trials over?" She asked while turning her questioning gaze toward Esmeray once again.
"There was one last test but considering your current state, you can’t survive it today. So, we will conclude the trials here for today." Esmeray provided her with the explanation.
Annalise wanted to ask what was the last trial but she refrained herself, knowing that she won’t get any answer considering all the trials were kept secret from her until the very last moment.
"I’m not that bad, right?" She asked while looking at Valerius over her shoulder.
His eyes softened, and he gently helped her to her feet, supporting her as she steadied herself. "You are an incredible magic weilder, Annalise. You have a gift that extends beyond anything I could have imagined. I am proud to stand by your side."
"Same here. I’m so proud to be your husband, Little Bird." Kenric added as he moved to stand closer to her.
As for Damien, he didn’t speak with words, instead, he stepped closer and placed a kiss on her forehead before wrapping his arm around her shoulder and moving to stand beside her as four of them enjoyed the view of the meadow.
As they all stood together, taking in the breathtaking landscape, Annalise’s mind raced with the possibilities that lay ahead. She knew that her newfound abilities would bring both blessings and challenges, but she was ready to face whatever came her way, with Kenric, Damien, and Valerius by her side.
With a renewed sense of purpose, Annalise straightened her posture, letting the warmth of the sunlight embrace her. The meadow whispered promises of hope and resilience, a promise that she would uphold for her people who had placed their trust in her.
As the day waned and the colors of the meadow began to blend into the shadows, Annalise and her husbands made their way back toward their home.
The meadow, now illuminated by the gentle moonlight, seemed to glow with a quiet radiance, a symbol of the resilience that resided within both Annalise and the people around her.
