Chapter 352: The Bag of Treasures

Chapter 352: The Bag of Treasures

Annalise and Esmeray walked for a short while before they walked out of the dead forest looking to a hill where Annalise found a very familiar scene. She remembered seeing the exact place when Esmeray made her enter the Seelie Realm during their initial encounters. The familiar place in front of her was none other than the Seelie Court which was in ruins.

Her gaze moved away from the hill and landed on an almost transparent ward standing right in front of her, the only thing that had been protecting the Seelie Palace from the dark energy for the past ten thousand years.

"Last time you failed to get past this ward. But I believe you can make it possible this time." Esmeray encouraged her as he too gazed at the ruined Seelie Palace with a look of pure longing and sadness filling his eyes.

Annalise wanted to question if she could really confront the ward and make her way past it but the thing she ended up asking was something completely different - "What if I accidentally destroyed the ward or something?"

Esmeray chuckled at her words before he responded in a teasing tone - "Don’t overestimate yourself. Alright?"

Annalise felt her cheeks warming up in embarrassment but she decided to just stay silent and focus on the important task at hand. Taking in a deep breath to calm her nerves, she stepped forward and placed her palm against the ward that immediately shimmered and became visible but didn’t push her away like the last time.

This helped her to relax slightly more. She concentrated on her powers, searching for their source - light, and found it coming to her summon immediately. A golden energy surrounded her palm and merged into the ward while she whispered the words in her mind - ’Grant me access to this sacred place so that I can create the perfect weapon to fight against our enemy. Grant the access to only me and no one else.’

Despite Esmeray’s belief that she could not take down such a powerful ward, Annalise couldn’t help but worry. That was why she made sure to tell whoever or whatever was keeping the ward intact - to allow only her entry inside the warded place.

The ward listened to her and she felt it giving way to her on her request. She turned to face Esmeray, knowing fully well that he wouldn’t be following her.

"Go. I will meet you here when you are done. And remember, four hours." He reminded her and Annalise nodded her head before stepping through the ward.

She felt the ancient and extremely powerful energy of the ward washing over her as she stepped through it. This ward was just as powerful as the one surrounding the Seelie Realm and kept the dark energy sealed inside, meaning - if the enemy could take down the outer ward, they could also take down this ward.

As she stepped through the protective ward and into the sanctuary of the Seelie Court, a wave of nostalgia washed over her. The stark contrast between the desolate world outside and the vibrant, living realm within was astonishing. She could hardly believe that this hidden oasis had remained untouched by the encroaching darkness for millennia.

The lush grass beneath her feet was a vibrant green, soft and inviting. It tickled her ankles as she walked, and she couldn’t help but marvel at the resilience of the Seelie magic that had kept this place pristine. The warm sun bathed the land in a golden glow, casting long shadows from the wildflowers that adorned the landscape.

Birdsong filled the air, a symphony of life that was absent in the world she had left behind. Annalise closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the sweet melodies, knowing that she didn’t have much time to appreciate the beauty of the place.

The path ahead led her through a small forest of graceful, ancient trees. Their leaves shimmered in various shades of green, and Annalise could feel the energy of the Seelie Realm coursing through them. She extended a hand and gently touched the bark of one tree, feeling a faint, comforting pulse of magic beneath her fingertips.

As she continued her journey, she came upon a serene, crystal-clear pond. Its surface was like a mirror, reflecting the vibrant blue sky above. Kneeling down, Annalise cupped her hands and scooped up some water, sipping it cautiously. The water tasted pure and revitalizing, infusing her with a sense of renewal.

With the pond behind her, Annalise finally reached the heart of the Seelie Court. It was a breathtaking sight, even in its ruined state. The palace, though damaged, still stood tall and majestic. Its intricate architecture was a testament to the craftsmanship of the Seelie people.

Annalise took a moment to soak in the grandeur of the palace, her heart heavy with the knowledge of what had been lost. She knew that within these walls, she would find the treasure and knowledge that many had coveted for years, but she wasn’t there for those.

She strolled around the area to find the perfect place and finally arrived in the tranquil embrace of the Seelie Palace’s side garden, the ruins around her bearing witness to a history long past. As she settled into the lotus position, the ambient magic of the garden enveloped her, its gentle warmth a familiar caress. Her eyes surveyed the surroundings, marveling at the beauty that had endured through time.

Closing her eyes, she drew deep breaths, each inhalation infusing her with a newfound serenity. Her very essence resonated with an unprecedented surge of power, like a symphony of elemental forces awakening within her.

With her heart now steady and her spirit attuned to the ancient magic, Annalise carefully laid out the treasures she had carried. The branch of the Tree of Elements rested before her, an artifact pulsating with extreme power. She began to unpack the bag, revealing an assortment of rare and potent magical items.

First, she beheld the Ice Lotus, a bloom of icy perfection that graced the world once every millennium. It held the essence of the purest ice element, a treasure coveted by powerful people around the world. From what she had heard, there were only five Ice Lotuses currently present in their world.

Beside it, a fragment of the Blue Star glittered, its celestial magic an enigma with origins lost to time. Its allure was undeniable, promising untold wonders to those who could harness its power.

A colossal pearl, resting silently, had spent eons within the ocean’s depths. Its core pulsed with the potent energy of water, a relic of the deep seas.

Then came the heart scale of the fabled golden dragon, a creature of legend among the realms, the only one of its kind to ever exist in the history of four realms. Its essence held the very essence of fire and majesty.

Annalise marveled at a vial containing unicorn blood, a creature long absent from the world’s gaze. A batch of unicorn hair lay beside it, its silvery strands tingling with latent power at her touch.

In a delicate glass globe, dark red blood bore witness to a battle waged ten thousand years ago against encroaching darkness. It whispered stories of valor and sacrifice. She recalled Esmeray telling her that it was the blood of the first warrior who lost his life in the battle against the dark energy ten thousand years ago.

Last but not least, there was a strand of Esmeray’s hair, a testament to their trust. He told her to add it to her weapon only when she felt it was right, as a weapon forged with the purest of powers could hardly accept any hint of darkness. Yet, if her weapon accepted his hair strand, it would become formidable against anything related to darkness.

Annalise studied each item meticulously, understanding their significance, power, and the weight of responsibility they carried. With closed eyes, she summoned her own innate powers, feeling the elemental magic swirl around her. The time had come to weave these disparate threads of magic into a tapestry of power, forging a weapon capable of confronting the impending darkness that loomed over the realms.

She let her magic touch the branch first and once she was sure that her magic had become one with the branch, she channeled it across the magical items, waiting to see which among them would react the most to her powers, selecting and picking the perfect ones for her weapon.
