Chapter 321: The Hooded Man

In the dark caves deep in the depths of mountains surrounded by dark energy, a group of people dressed in all black were standing together as they waited for the arrival of their master.

It was so dark in there that despite it being the middle of the day, there wasn’t a single ray of natural light filtering inside the cave. The only source of light inside were the couple of torches that were lit to provide minimum brightness.

A couple of moments later, a person appeared from the shadows and moved to sit on the throne like seat at the high platform, made of obsidian and gemstones of different colors.

His tall frame was hidden underneath the long black cloak that he wore, hiding his identity from the onlookers.

When he spoke, his voice sounded almost ancient and the walls rumbled with the intensity of his powers. He was someone with strong magical powers, someone who should be feared.

Everyone kneeled and bowed to greet the man - "Long live, His Lordship."

The man gave a swift wave with one of his hands as if to ask them all to stand up, and they all did as they were told without wasting any time. Every person present in the room, other than the one in cloak, looked powerful and were dressed as guards.

"How are our preparations going?" The man on the throne asked as he looked at his subordinates from under the hood of the cloak that was hiding his face from any prying eyes.

One of the guards stepped forward and folded his palms together and once again greeted the man with a bow before he eventually answered, "Everything is going according to the plan. It won’t be long before we will be ready to set out."

The man with the cloak nodded his head, showing his contentment with the respond he got from the guard.

One after the other, the guards stepped forward to inform the hooded man about the recent progress regarding several matters which also included updates about the recent activities of the newfound fellowship between the rulers of the Midnight Realm, Mortal Realm, Seelie Empire, Mer Clan, and Sky Castle.

"They seem to be hurrying up with their defense tactics. All of them have actually come together to form an alliance... one that was last seen ten thousand years ago." Someone spoke in a tone that sounded almost amazed.

The man sitting on the throne let out a deep rumble of laughter before stating in a confident tone, "The alliance didn’t work back then, and even this time, they won’t be able to stop us from getting what we want."

There was a loud boom of noise as everyone shouted their agreement with their lord’s words. They all seemed to believe that the alliance between the leaders of the different supernatural clans was nothing to be feared of.

The hooded man raised one of his hands and the place became dead silent all over again. A moment or two later, he questioned - "Is there any news about the residents of the Cursed Castle? Especially... the Seelie Princess?"

There was a moment of silence before one of the guards stepped forward and answered after bowing - "They have strengthened the ward around the castle. So, it’s getting hard to keep track on their activities, but so far, they haven’t stepped out since the alliance meeting in the Midnight Realm. If my guess isn’t wrong, they seem to be just practicing their skills and powers these days."

All of a sudden, the hooded man raised one of his hands and a ball of black and green energy shot out before striking the guard and killing him in less than a second.

The silence that followed the episode was deafening and no one dared to even show any change in their expressions let alone say anything.

"There is no guessing when it comes to the residents of the Cursed Castle. If you can’t find their exact movements, just go and kill yourself on your own instead of coming here to give me such reports." The hooded man warned as he slowly lowered his hand and rested it on the armrest of his throne.

"The rest of the world isn’t a threat to us, but the same can’t be said about those residing in the Cursed Castle." He continued. "We need to distract them for a while. Let’s give them a better surprise this time."

Another guard stepped forward and bowed before asking, "What does his Lordship want us to do regarding this matter?"

The place was filled with a sense of curiosity as if the matter of the Cursed Castle and its residents was of grave importance to them all.

The hooded man tapped his fingers against the armrest as he remained silent for a moment or two before finally answering, "How about paying a sweet visit to the Princess?"

"But she barely steps out of the Castle grounds and the powerful ward surrounding it deny us entry." One of the guards pointed out.

Not even a second later, another one chimed in - "And there’s also the High Lord. He has made it pretty clear in the past that the mortal girl is off-limits."

The hooded man chuckled again as if he was finding the entire situation hilarious. "The High Lord is on our side but he’s trying to protect a mere mortal girl. This will be the perfect chance to find out exactly why. And even if things didn’t turn out for the best, he’s still on our side. Someone like him will never go against us just for any mortal."

At first, there was just silence but then it seemed like everyone did end up trusting the hooded man’s words.

"All you need to do now is to bring the girl away from the protection of the Castle and her husbands and friends, and there will be no issue in taking care of this task. Just... make sure to bring a good news."
