The Veil of Darkness -
Chapter 281: Trust, No Jealousy
Chapter 281: Trust, No Jealousy
Annalise stood next to the huge open window of her bedroom as she stared at the beautiful night sky that was lit with millions of twinkling stars and a full moon that had been making it hard for her to look away from it.
The soft cold breeze that was whistling past her window only made her stick to her place even more as she enjoyed the beautiful moment.
These silent and peaceful moments almost felt like blessings these days because she kept recalling Esmeray’s words referring to the unwanted war that was looming over their heads and waiting to release chaos in their world.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt the presence of one of her husbands who just entered her bed-chamber. She didn’t even need to turn around to look at him to know which one of the three Dark Lords was in her room.
A smile bloomed on her lips as a pair of strong muscular arms found their way around her waist and pulled her back to rest against a hard and well-defined chest.
She felt a warm breath fanning the underside of her ear before he whispered a question - "What are you looking at?"
"Just enjoying the beautiful view and the nice wind," she replied as she relaxed against him while enjoying the sweet tingles that erupted through her body at the contact.
"The weather is changing and it is getting colder, You should keep yourself covered now. Don’t let the change in the weather affect your health." Damien warned her as he tightened his arms around her as if he was trying to protect her from the said shift in the weather.
Annalise turned into his arms to face him and the man loosened his hold on her enough for her to move freely before they tightened again as he pulled her body against his.
"I’m not that fragile." She tried to defend herself but was rewarded with an arched eyebrow from the Second Dark Lord which made her look at him with a challenging gaze.
"Of course, you aren’t fragile. You are actually one of the strongest people we have ever met." The praise came from none other than the Third Dark Lord who just entered the bed-chamber along with Valerius.
Annalise was a little bit surprised as well as slightly overwhelmed to see all three of the Dark Lords inside her bedchamber at this hour of the night.
"Why you all are here in my room all of a sudden?" she asked while looking at the three men skeptically.
Her gaze shifted between the three men before momentarily stopping on Valerius as she waited for their reply. However, the one who answered her was the man holding her in his arms.
His breath fanned the sensitive skin of her neck as Damien whispered - "Kenric was proposing to Valerius that he plans to pick up things from where they left them the last night we all spent here. The proposal was so tempting that I can’t help but join these two."
"From where they left... weren’t we..." As soon as Annalise recalled the memories of that night and the reference to Damien’s words, she felt her cheeks burning up as she looked anywhere but at her husbands.
"So, what are your plans for the night, Princess?" Damien pressed as he slightly pushed her back against the window, caging her and not giving her a chance to walk away without answering.
"I... I..." Annalise tried to find something to say in response, anything, but she was too overwhelmed to think of anything. Her brain couldn’t help but recall the sweet memories of that night when she was sandwiched between Kenric and Valerius.
She felt her entire body burning at the memory while sweet light shivers shook her body, and the fact that she was literally pressed against one of her husbands’ hard muscular body didn’t help her case much.
"You what, Princess?" Damien wasn’t giving up as he pressed her further for some sort of response but all that Annalise could do was to stare at him with an anxious expression on her face.
Before Damien could demand an answer out of her, Kenric appeared next to them and spoke in a casual tone - "Looks like my Little Bird can’t recall what we all are referring to. Then... how about we help you recall?"
The suggestion was accompanied by a sweet kiss right under her ear as Annalise got pulled into Kenric’s arms. Their bodies were pressed against each other’s and he continued trailing his lips down the side of her neck, making her arch her neck unconsciously to give him more space.
The more he was touching her with his hands and mouth, the more alive her body was becoming, and the more effort she needed to suppress the incoherent sounds that were threatening to spill past her lips.
"We are still waiting for your answer, Princess."
"Huh?"
Annalise was pulled out of her daze when her ears registered Damien’s words but her brain was quite fuzzy to understand immediately what he was trying to say.
"About joining our night plan." Kenric provided as he pulled away from her enough to look at her face.
Annalise thought about the offer and pondered her options. She knew pretty well that if she refused, all three men would respect her decision and wouldn’t hesitate to give her the space she demanded. However, refusing their offer wasn’t what she wanted at all. She was craving them just as much as they wanted her.
After taking her time to think, she finally made up her mind but as soon as she looked at her husbands, she dreaded to say her thoughts out loud - not because she was afraid that they would refuse or judge her, instead, it was because she felt embarrassed.
"What if..." she stopped right after speaking two words as she couldn’t help but hesitate. Should she really speak out what she had in her mind?
"What is it, Little Bird?" This time, it was Kenric who pressed her to speak up.
Annalise opened her mouth to speak but then closed it almost immediately. When she refused to speak for the next couple of moments, Valerius finally decided to break his silence as he moved to take Kenric’s spot.
"Do you know how painful it is for us to see you hesitating so much to speak your mind to us? It’s making us feel like you don’t trust us enough yet." Unlike Annalise, Valerius didn’t hide his thoughts and revealed exactly how he was feeling.
Annalise hurriedly shook her head as she finally spoke up - "It’s not that. I’m only hesitating because... well... I feel embarrassed..."
She spoke the last word so softly that if not for their enhanced hearing, they would have clearly missed it.
Valerius took hold of her chin between his thumb and forefinger as he shifted her face to look directly at him. "There is no need to feel embarrassed in front of us three, Love. Feeling comfortable to reveal all your thoughts and worries to us is also a part of the trust that we all need to build in our relationships. We are your husbands, your soulmates, there is nothing in this world you can’t share with us."
"This marriage, or this bond is not about only the three of us, Annalise, You are just an equal and important part of it like the three of us. No matter what it is that you have in mind, you can tell us without any hesitation and we promise to understand without being judgemental."
"If you want to be alone tonight and rest, we will agree without a word. You want to spend time with only one of us, the other two will agree and leave without any complaints, You want to spend the night with two of us, and the third one will happily allow that. You want all three of us here but only for company as we sleep together and no other activity tonight, We will love even that... and it’s because we understand you, Annalise."
Valerius stopped speaking for a second as he took a deep breath before he continued - "The three of us will always agree to your wishes and comply with them because we understand you and your position in our relationship. The three of us aren’t jealous of each other, nor do we feel angry when only one or two of us are spending time with you... and that is because we know that you are not picking any favorites here. You treat all three of us equally. Your love and attention are equal toward all three of us and that makes us feel secure in our relationship. And we want you to feel the same way."
In such a short time he said such deep things that Annalise couldn’t help but feel her heart filling with warmth. She did trust them and feel comfortable with them... and that’s why she should also feel comfortable speaking her mind to them.
"I want all three of you..."
She ended up whispering and felt as a smile bloomed on Valerius’ lips and she knew that it wasn’t because she agreed to their plan for the night but because she finally spoke out her mind.
"But..." she continued right after taking a break for a couple of seconds, "... I don’t want the night to be sweet and all..."
