Chapter 218: Watching The Stars** (Part Five)

Valerius plastered soft kisses all over her throat as he slowly pulled away from her. He pulled away from her to look at her as he spoke, "We are far from being done, wife."

Saying that he slipped one of his between her legs, finding her core that was standing erect for attention. His fingers slid across her little bud and down to her opening before he slipped two of them inside.

"Valerius..." A shaky breath escaped Annalise’s mouth as she arched her back, pushing herself more into him.

He leaned over her before his lips found their way to the shell of her ear, her neck, and then down to her shoulder before moving down to her collarbone. He didn’t stop until his mouth was on the rounded swell of her left breast.

She didn’t need to look at Valerius’ face to know that he was smiling because of her words. He tightened his arms around her before they both fell into a comfortable silence.

With her body cocooned in her husband’s warmth, her head resting against his shoulder, and his arms wrapped around her protectively, Annalise gazed at the night sky while projecting different constellations which slowly lulled her into a dreamless sleep.

When Annalise woke up in the morning, she was back in her bed-chamber and Valerius had already left.

She freshened up and got ready with Sera’s help. She chose a dark green gown with golden jewelry and leather boots. Since the air was slightly cold, Sera even wrapped a soft cloak over her shoulders to protect her from the changing weather. Lastly, she styled her hair in a simple braid that reached past her waist.

Just as they were almost done, a knock was heard on her bed-chambers door before Kenric stepped inside with a warm smile on his face.

Sera greeted the third dark lord before she took her leave and left Annalise alone with her youngest husband.

"You are looking so beautiful, Little Bird. What a coincidence that we are both wearing green!" He really seemed happy to see that they were wearing matching-colored clothes. His deep green tunic was almost the same shade as her dark green dress.

"Thank you, My Lord. But why come here? I was already on my way downstairs to join you all." Annalise asked as she stepped closer to where he was standing near the entrance of the room.

Kenric descended the stairs and closed the remaining distance between them as he came to stand right in front of her. "Well, I saw a chance to come here and meet you in some privacy and I took it." He admitted while wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer.

Annalise’s eyes fluttered shut on their own accord when Kenric leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before pulling away and giving her his biggest and warmest smile.

"Alright, but we should be heading downstairs, others must be waiting." She reminded him and was about to step past him and head toward the door but got stopped by Kenric even before she could have taken a single step away from him.

She turned to look at him in confusion and watched him conjuring a letter in his hand before he handed it to her. "Yesterday, Valerius sent a message to both the Grand Duke and the King. This seems to be their response."

All the good feelings evaporated from Annalise’s heart as she opened the letter with her slightly trembling fingers and started reading it.
