Chapter 210: A Game to Feel Good

Annalise smiled softly before she shook her head and whispered in response to his question, "I’m not angry at any of you. Though I initially felt mad for you all to push me like this, now I know why you keep doing it from time to time. You all are just trying to help me in your own way."

She had known about their intention from the very beginning but despite being aware of their intent of purely helping her, she still wasn’t able to keep her emotions in control whenever she felt them pushing her to accept the things that she was afraid to even face.

A small but beautiful smile spread on Valerius’ lips as he moved her hands closer to his mouth before placing soft kisses on the knuckles of both her hands. "We just want to help you, Annalise. Hurting you or seeing you sad in any way isn’t something we enjoy or even like either. And while we know that you need some time to come to terms with all the secrets that you have just found out, time is exactly what we don’t have."

His words were both an assurance and a reminder for her. While her husbands were clearly on her side, they won’t be staying silent if they felt like she needed a push to move forward with things and situations happening around her and also the future that awaited her... awaited all of them.

Taking in a deep breath, she nodded her head in understanding. Maybe it was really time for her to put aside her feelings and insecurities to face her parents and the truth that they had been hiding from her all this time.

"Valerius, can you arrange a meeting between my parents and the King with me?" She finally requested and watched as a surprised look took over the first dark lord’s face. He was least expecting her to suddenly change her mind about stalling for more time and actually decide to interrogate the people who lied to her the most.

"Are you sure about this?" He asked just to make sure that she was determined about her sudden change of plans.

Annalise took another deep breath before she nodded her head in affirmative, "I’m sure and I think it’s time I should stop running from things that are waiting for me to face them eventually. Besides, there are too many things that we need to sort out before it is too late, we can’t be wasting any time with my personal problems. That’s why I need to sort them out as soon as possible."

Valerius nodded his head in understanding as he softly brushed his thumb across her knuckles as he spoke, "Fine. I will send a message to both your father and the King."

Annalise nodded her head as she gave him a warm smike that was full of both love and gratitude for all his support and help. "You know that you are the best, right?" She asked him while tilting her head slightly to the side to look at him.

The smike returned to Valerius’ lips as he responded, "I’m sure the others won’t be too happy to hear you say that to me." His tone had turned playful and the glimmer in his eyes matched his mood perfectly.

Annalise slightly shrugged her shoulders before she replied, "That’s not something to worry about at all. I will copy and paste this same sentence to the other two too, then they won’t mind at all."

The two of them immediately burst out into chuckles before Valerius suddenly surprised her with a sudden kiss. It was the slightest graze of his lips against hers but it was more than enough to make her entire body light up and her shared bond with him turned fully alive.

Instead of allowing him to pull away right after that softest brush of his lips against hers, she wrapped her arms over his shoulders and locked them on his nape before pulling him for another kiss which was way more deep, long, and more passionate.

Valerius responded immediately as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap, her legs resting on either side of his thighs while she straddled him.

The kiss lasted for a while and by the time they both pulled apart, both of them were out of breath as their lungs protested for the much-needed oxygen that their kiss had deprived them of.

"This doesn’t seem to be going as planned," Annalise whispered as she trailed her lips down his cheeks to his jaw and then to his ears where she allowed her teeth to softly nibbled on his earlobe which clearly had very sharp effects on Valerius as the man literally shivered while his hold on her waist tightened.

"Careful, wife. You won’t want to start something that you aren’t ready to finish." Valerius tried to warn her but Annalise was beyond the point of listening. She gave another soft bite on the tip of his ear before whispering in response, "Is this supposed to intimidate me? Because that’s the last thing I’m feeling at the moment."

Valerius turned his desire-filled ice-blue gaze at her and for a fleeting second, Annalise was almost left spellbound. Unfortunately, the beautiful and flirty moment between them was short-lived as a knock on the door disturbed them.

Valerius didn’t unwrap his arms from around her waist but he did change his expression back to normal as he asked the person to enter the room.

If it had been the Annalise from the past, she would have been left completely devastated by the current situation and would have died in embarrassment to be found in such a state with a man, even if he was one of her husbands, thankfully, the Annalise of the present was way more matured, bold, confident, and courageous.

Instead of moving away from his lap and making a proper distance between the two of them as a man and woman, she just allowed Valerius to hold her as she placed her head against his shoulder and fixed her eyes on the door to see who was coming inside.

It was Sera who entered the room and to her credit, the woman didn’t show a single speck of shock or contempt on her face as she respectfully greeted both Annalise and Valerius with proper bows.

"My Lady, My Lord, the other lords are asking you both to join them downstairs in the parlor. They are going to play mahjong."

Valerius and Annalise shared a quick look and the latter nodded her head in agreement with tge idea of joining the others for a game. The past couple of days, or even the half of the day that had just passed by, was filled with a lot of tension, a fun game amid all of these won’t be a bad idea.

"Alright, we will be there in a couple of minutes," Valerius told Sera who nodded her head in understanding and bowed again to take her leave but she didn’t forget to pass her lady a quick wink before disappearing.

Annalise couldn’t stop the small smile that bloomed on her lips as she slightly shook her head at the unspoken words that Sera had just left behind. It seemed like all the servants, especially the four original ones, seemed to be happy about the progress of Annalise’s relationship with her husbands.

"Shall we get going then?" Valerius asked as he turned his attention back to her.

Annalise made a pouting face as she replied, "What a shame! I was so much looking forward to spending some quality time with you but..."

The stretch of the corners of Valerius’ lips was too obvious to be ignored. The man stared directly into her eyes as he spoke, "What a shame, My lady, it was you who just chose to join the others in the game instead of spending some quality time with me."

His words, though teasing, immediately got Annalise’s full attention as she asked, "Would you have stayed here with me if I had ignored the invitation?" She didn’t care just how excited she sounded while talking about their so-called ’quality time’.

Valerius let out a small sigh before he shook his head in the negative, confusing Annalise in the wake. "I never said that I was planning on staying here further than I planned initially."

Annalise almost rolled her eyes at his words but controlled herself at the very last moment. Her husband was being a clear tease and she couldn’t deny that a silly part of her enjoyed this side of Valerius that was very less seen.

"Alright, since we have made our choices, should we head downstairs and join others for a game?" She offered while climbing down his lap and straightening her dress.

"You know how to play mahjong?" Valerius asked as he too followed her and stood up. When Annalise nodded her head in affirmative, he took hold of her hand and pulled her toward the door. "Let’s go then."
