Chapter 169: Because it’s you

Annalise did exactly as she was told, she allowed her powers to come to the surface and follow the direction of Valerius’ command.

"Stars!"

Valerius suddenly pulled away, leaving her hanging there in the middle and totally confused about what just happened that made him pull away so suddenly. Her question was soon answered as the dark lord made her turn around to face him before he spoke.

"Annalise, do you know how dangerous it is to let someone else have control over your powers? Your powers... they aren’t something normal. You can’t repeat such a mistake..."

"I know." Annalise silenced him as she suddenly spoke up in her defense. "I know, Valerius. I’m very much aware of how unusual my powers are, that I’m not someone normal with Seelie bloodline like the rest of the people of my empire, and I’m also aware that I should never ever let anyone have control over my powers because it can turn out to be my biggest mistake."

"Then why did you do that just now?" Valerius asked as his mesmerizing ice-blue eyes looked at her in confusion.

"Because it’s you," Annalise answered truthfully which clearly took Valerius by surprise which was evident from the shocked look on his ethereal face. "Because it’s you, Valerius, and I trust you with everything I have. You are my husband, my soulmate, and... and one of the three men I have fallen in love with. I trust all three of you... just as much as I trust myself."

The look on Valerius’ face changed drastically as it went from shock to pure admiration and love. It didn’t even take him more than a second before he pulled her into his arms in a very tight and possessive hug. "You are going to be the death of me, dear wife." He whispered to her before placing a kiss on her temple.

He pulled away slightly from the hug to cup her face between his palms and looked into her eyes before he spoke, "Let me tell you, Lady Annalise, you are the one I love the most in this world. You are my wife, my soulmate, that one person who makes my heart beat like crazy and makes me question my sanity. The woman who makes me want to spend long nights with her entangled in the bedsheets and also the one who makes me want to enjoy every summer morning, winter night, or rainy day in her company."

He inched closer, taking away most of the little space that was present between their faces as he continued, "You are that one person I want to see right before I close my eyes every night and in the morning when I open them. You are the one who makes me desire to eat mortal food with her and also that one person who fills my life with the warmth of love, care, and trust. You are the one who completes my family and the person I’m madly in love with..."

Annalise couldn’t take it anymore so she did the first thing that came into her mind, sealing his mouth with her own in a kiss which was namely just a soft brush of her lips against his. And if she thought that his words were doing insane things to her then she should have thought twice before kissing him because when he finally responded to the kiss, it was nothing like the usual.

Just when she was about to pull away right after the softest brush of her lips against his, he crashed his mouth down over hers, causing a gasp to escape through her lips.

She found herself softening into his embrace as his tongue made its way through her parted lips and started playing with hers. It was a kiss meant to consume her, a kiss that spoke of his love and yearning for her, a promise of his soul to hers to always cherish her as if she was the world to him.

"Stars." She found herself whispering with a gasp as she came up for air and his mouth found its way to her throat, teeth grazing the delicate skin there.

Firm hands grabbed her hips as he let go of her face, and then he was picking her up by the back of her thighs, wrapping her legs around his hips and pushing her against the wall next to the passageway before he pressed his upper body against hers.

Her fingers clenched his white silk shirt as she tried her very best to breathe but it was proving to be a very hard job considering the way Valerius was stealing her breath away with his mouth, hands, and his entire damn body.

He claimed her mouth again and it made her burning body suddenly fill with a pleasant chill that came from his ice element. The mixture of two contrasting elements inside and all over her body, was more than enough to make her lose her mind for all good reasons.

"Valerius..." His name was a mere whisper leaving her lips as they both finally parted their mouths to catch their breaths after the intense kissing session.

He slowly lowered her to the ground but didn’t let her out of his arms as he pressed his forehead against hers. For the next couple of minutes, the two of them just stayed there like that as they allowed their bodies, souls, and powers to calm down.

"How much I wish to forget about everything else and just spend the rest of the few hours before dawn making love to you..." He whispered while placing kisses on her forehead, temples, and finally on her lips before he pulled away completely, only leaving his hands resting on her shoulders.

Annalise looked up into his eyes and found herself losing her control all over again. A part of her, the sane part, wanted to tell him to indeed forget about everything else and take her to the bed, she yearned for him like there was no tomorrow. However, both their insane thoughts won as they decided to put a break on their desires for each other and focus on the thing on the other side of the ward.
