Chapter 163: The One Downstairs

Annalise let out a deep sigh as the welcome feast finally came to an end and all the guests retired to their bed-chambers for the night.

She was too tired just from the feast that she couldn’t even find enough strength to help Aunt Claire and Sera in the kitchen but thankfully, the new addition of the servants proved really helpful.

"My Lady, you don’t have to stay here. We all will take care of the work here as soon as..." The rest of Aunt Claire’s words didn’t get to make their way out of her mouth as she was left completely stunned along with every other person present there in the kitchen.

Valerius finished the spell that he just cast and turned to face Annalise and Aunt Claire as he spoke, "Just for tonight."

"What kind of spell was that? Can you teach it to me, My Lord?" Garron asked as he looked around in awe while his gaze took in the performance of Valerius’ spell that had finished all of the kitchen’s pending work.

Before Valerius could have answered, Sera spoke up first as she clearly couldn’t give up on the golden chance to reprimand him. "You aren’t even in your twenties and have already started looking for ways to be lazy. Don’t you have any shame?"

"You...!"

"Alright, alright. Let’s stop here, shall we? Lord Valerius used the spell to help us all after the tiring day. Let’s appreciate his effort and get as much sleep as we all can because the coming day is also filled with a lot of work." Aunt Claire announced and everyone nodded their heads at her words.

All the servants took their leave and headed toward the back door of the kitchen which led them to the backyard where the servant quarters were built.

All the females lived on the first floor while the men lived on the second. The ground floor was more of a common area with a small kitchen, a dining room, a storehouse, and a huge parlor located on it for common use.

Letting out another sigh, Annalise turned away from the back door to look for Valerius but the dark lord was nowhere to be found in the kitchen. Having nothing else to do, she also headed out of the kitchen and in the direction of the stairs.

Though it was only half past eight o’clock, she still felt really sleepy because of all the exhaustion. That’s why she just decided to sleep and get her energy bank recharged for the coming day. Little did she expect to stumble across Leela who was standing right in front of her bedroom.

"Is everything alright?" Annalise asked hurriedly, worrying that the girl was probably not happy with something considering the frown on her face, and her guess came out right when the girl finally spoke.

"Lisa, why I’m not staying in the room right next to yours?"

"Lisa?" That was all Annalise could focus on as the sudden nickname took her by surprise, not as if she disliked it since this was a long-forgotten nickname that her nanny used for her. Hearing it out of the blue was more nostalgic than surprising.

"You don’t like it when I address you as ’My Lady’ but calling you by your name sounds so distant to me. That’s why I came up with this nickname. Don’t you like it?" Leela asked while tilting her head in question.

"I do like it... I was just surprised to hear it all of a sudden. You can call me that as long as you like it." Annalise replied with a small smile and watched as Leela’s face bloomed with a full smile. The girl seemed really happy with her consent.

"And about the room..."

"You can’t stay in this one because it’s mine." Kenric’s soft but teasing voice interrupted Annalise before she could have finished her reply as the man ascended the stairs and headed right in their direction.

Leela arched her eyebrows high in question as she brushed past Annalise and moved to stand right in front of Kenric before speaking, "Really? You don’t share your wife’s room?"

The third dark lord didn’t even blink as he replied just as confidently as Leela had asked the question. "We brothers believe in personal space. Besides, four people in one single bed-chamber are just too much for anyone to handle. And... you need to go back to your room and stop making a fuss so that all of us can rest."

Leela was not happy with the last part and even Annalise felt that it wasn’t the right thing to say to their guest but before she could have spoken up, she noticed Ezra making his way toward them from the other end of the hallway.

All three of them became silent as they waited for the dragon shifter to approach them and as soon as he was there, he grabbed Leela’s shoulder and pulled her by his side before making her now along with him. "Let me escort the lady to her room. You both should also rest after the long tiring day. Good night, My Lord, My Lady."

He didn’t give them any chance to respond before he turned around and dragged a very shocked Leela along with him like she was not a full-grown-up lady but a mere kid. "Do you think we should..."

"Just let them be. Ezra is a good man and a smart one too. He knows how to handle her. You should stop worrying about them and get some rest." Kenric answered before she could have finished her question.

Annalise let out a small sigh and nodded her head in agreement. She was about to head inside her room when Kenric stopped her. "What?" She asked in confusion.

"Why don’t you come and sleep in my room?" The man asked with hopeful eyes and his question made Annalise look toward the bedroom next to hers, the same one that he just claimed as his own bedroom and also where the two of them spent a romantic evening just a couple of hours ago.

Before her thoughts could have run wild anymore, Kenric spoke again, "Not this one but the one downstairs."
