Chapter 127: The Mer Queen

In the depths of Lake Willow

The Throne Hall of the Mer Court ~

-

Valerius, Damien, and Kenric watched their wife leaving the town along with Leela and the men from the Sky Castle in the magical mirror that was hanging in the air in the center of the Throne Hall.

While no one seemed to recognize anyone among those four men, Valerius immediately recognized the one with green eyes. He had seen that man accompanying the Princess of the Sky Castle, he was her right-hand man and one of the eight elites of the Sky Castle.

"His presence means that the situation is way more serious than they just explained," Kenric stated as his eyes followed their wife who was riding her horse like an expert, she was undoubtedly quick in learning things. "I’m worried about her." He finally confessed as he spared a quick look in Valerius and Damien’s direction.

The three men turned to look in the direction of the woman who was sitting on her high throne made of corals, seashells, gemstones, and pearls. Though they didn’t speak, the Queen still heard their worries out loud and clear.

"I have already told you that Leela is my disciple and she’s the best among all my disciples. She won’t let anything happen to your wife. Besides..." The Queen trailed off as she turned her attention away from the dark lords only to fix her gaze on Annalise before she continued, "Since she’s ’The One’, nothing will happen to her. Instead, this little adventure will only help her powers to break through the seal."

Her attention returned to the Dark Lords as she spoke with a soft smile on her face, "I can understand why you all are so worried about her but you have to remember, she’s not only your soulmate, she’s ’The One’ with a great responsibility on her shoulders. She has been chosen for a great cause and her destiny is to complete that mission at every cost. As her mates, it’s your duty to help her."

The dark lords nodded their heads as they all knew the Queen was state g nothing but facts - Annalise wasn’t just their mate, she was ’The One’ from the prophecy that the last Light Fae Queen foretold right before the doom of the Seelie Realm.

"What do you think would have happened in the Sky Castle for them to send such a powerful man out? They aren’t even afraid of breaking into other territories." Damien raised the question as he keenly observed the men from the Sky Castle.

While Queen remained silent and Kenric just shrugged his shoulders, Valerius decided to speak. "Whatever the reason, the Sky Castle has kept the news from leaving the boundaries of their territory. It only means that this is not only about someone trying to break into their territory but something more serious."

Everyone nodded their heads in both understanding and agreement with what Valerius just said.

Just like how the mers left the Seelie Realm after the incident and created their new home in the depths of Lake Willow, the Sky Castle was also the new home of dragons after they also left the Seelie Realm.

Sky Castle was a magnificent palace built on top of the highest peak in the northern lands on the shared boundary between the Mortal Realm and the Midnight Realm.

However, very few people were aware that except for the light faes, most of the Seelie races survived the catastrophe of the Seelie Realm. It was mostly the monarchs of all these races who knew about this secret, the reason why Annalise or anyone from the Seelie Empire was unaware of the existence of the Seelie races.

"How about this..." Valerius spoke and brought everyone’s attention toward him. "...Damien will head to follow Annalise and those from the Sky Castle but make sure not to interfere unless there’s an utmost need."

Damien nodded his head in understanding. He was more than happy to be chosen to go after their wife. Even though it had been only a couple of hours since he had last seen her, his soul was already restless to see her again and be close to her. Besides, the fact that she was out there in open to danger was already enough to make him go insane.

Valerius then turned his attention toward Kenric before speaking, "Stay here with Her Majesty."

Kenric didn’t ask any questions and just nodded his head in understanding. He knew that his brother was never wrong with his strategies. Besides, the current situation needed someone among the three of them to stay at the Mer Court and he was the best option for that.

The last one on Valerius’s list was none other than the Queen. "And since I already have the Spirit Mer Coral, I should head to finish the important work at hand. Can I ask Her Majesty to send some of her capable men to accompany me?"

The Queen nodded her head as she clapped her hands and a mer knight entered the hall. "Take a group of your most capable knights to follow Lord Valerius. Your job is to protect the Spirit Mer Coral to the very last."

"Yes, Your Majesty." The knight bowed as he accepted the order and left the hall to gather his best men.

Damien and Valerius both stood up from their seats as they both prepared to leave the palace. "I would also like to ask Her Majesty to look after my brother for a while but I can promise that he’s more of an asset rather than a liability."

The Queen gave a light nod with a soft smile. She didn’t need to voice out the promise in words as the work was done just by her slight nod.

Moreover, it was Kenric they were talking about, the pure-blood royalty of the Dark Faes, it was actually the Mer Court who would be at advantage because of his presence there.

Annalise stared at the group of men who were busy doing something really weird in the middle of the forest.

After the last couple of hours since she had been riding her horse through the forest, she had completely shaken her mind off whether her husbands would be worried, angry, or a combination of both because of her sudden disappearance from Lakeshire town.

"What are they doing? I can’t recognize the spell that he’s casting." Leela whispered to her as she stared at the man who was standing next to a tree with his eyes closed and facing toward the sky. The rest of the men were standing close to him as if they were waiting for him to open his eyes and reveal something to him.

"Let me give it a try." Annalise suddenly found herself saying.

"Huh?" Leela turned to look at her in confusion but got no response.

Annalise took in a deep breath before she closed her eyes and allowed her powers to surface and search the air to recognize the element that the dragon shifter was using.

Every race in their world could use powers related to elements. Water, earth, fire, air, light, and shadow were the six major elements that ruled the three realms - Mortal, Midnight, and Seelie Realm. Still, some other elements were used too as not everyone had the ability to control the major elements.

Thunder, ice, force, time, nature, spirit, space, vision, elixir, sound, poison, fear, and so on, were some of these elements.

So far, Annalise had only been able to detect the major elemental powers in her surrounding but not the other elements, but then she never paid enough attention to particularly detect them. Therefore, she thought about giving it a chance at the moment to see if she could sense the element or type of spell that the dragon shifter was using.

Her powers flowed on the surface but didn’t try to break out, they remained hidden while studying the surroundings to detect what sort of element energy was present near them.

Several moments of silence passed before she felt a sudden tug on her powers and then she sensed it... vision.

She opened her eyes and turned her attention to Leela as she spoke, "He’s using his vision power to track someone... or something."

"An object?" Leela asked in surprise as she returned her attention to the shifters. They were at a safe distance where the men couldn’t hear them talking even with their enhanced hearing powers.

"I didn’t get too much information but it seems like they are indeed searching for a person... who had something very important in their possession," Annalise revealed what she sensed through her own powers when they searched through the vision spell that the shifter was using.

While Leela started pondering about what sort of information those men were trying to hide from them, Annalise was busy pondering on her own powers that seemed to be surprising her every other day.
