Chapter 102: A Magical Message

Chapter 102: A Magical Message

Annalise watched as Valerius wrote down the message in thin air with a golden brush and golden words appeared in neat and clean handwriting in proper lines. He then chanted a spell before the words disappeared and so did the brush that he was holding.

"Wanna learn the spell?" Kenric questioned when he noticed the intriguing look in her eyes. The man had been sticking by her side ever since they met in Damien’s bed-chamber.

Annalise let out a sigh before she shook her head. "What and whom am I even gonna write to?"

"You can write to me. I’ll be in my basement and you will be in your room and we can exchange messages." The excitement level that Kenric showed as he gave her the suggestion, almost gave Annalise goosebumps.

She just shook her head but didn’t respond. Her attention returned to her other two husbands. Valerius was taking a closer look at the portal which once again appeared completely lifeless and devoid of any magic, while Damien was taking a look around the hall.

"Have you guys brought my bags with you?" She suddenly found herself asking as she recalled that, unlike her husbands’ horses, there was no sign of the carriage that was probably shattered into pieces after the attack in the enchanted forest.

Kenric smiled as he flicked his fingers before a bright red light shot from his fingers and landed on the floor before disappearing into small sparkles. The very next second, she found all the bags that were carrying her clothes, accessories, packed food, medicine, and other important stuff.

"Here, you can use this pouch to carry all these items. Not only will they occupy next to no space but you won’t have to worry about carrying their weight or losing them." Kenric told her as he handed her a beautiful white pouch with a rune decorating its interior and exterior.

He showed her how the pouch worked and how she was supposed to store all the big bags in the palm-sized pouch. It didn’t take her even five minutes to learn the spell to control the rune. She thanked Kenric for his generous gift before she added the pouch to her waist belt, casting a spell on it to make sure that she won’t end up dropping it somewhere.

Valerius and Damien also returned by their side in tge next few minutes and they all sat there in the middle of the floor that Kenric had cleaned up with a cleaning spell.

Just like the men predicted, they received the reply from the King of the Seelie Empire in less than half an hour but unlike the golden words hanging in the air, they received a proper letter which was an understandable thing considering the huge difference between the power levels of the King and Valerius.

Damien was the first one to read the letter before he passed it over to Annalise and then she handed it over to the other two. "The response is way better than I was expecting. His Majesty didnt disappoint at all." Damien commented as he checked the jade pendant that was attached to the letter - the jade pendant representing the status and title of the special royal envoy.

He handed the pendant to Annalise who stared at it in both awe and fear. According to the letter, she was supposed to carry the pendant as she was a royal but then it meant that she would be placed in the center of the issue that they were supposed to solve. How could she handle such an important matter on her own?

"You have us with you, Annalise," Valerius spoke as he probably read her worries clearly on her face. "Besides, it’s a good opportunity for you to come out of your shell and learn about your strengths and weaknesses. Being a royal, I’m sure you must have studied about the politics of your empire."

Annalise noticed how the three men were looking at her with expectation-filled eyes and it almost killed her when she had to shake her head in negative. "Father never allowed me to learn politics or weaponry, I was always supposed to learn about the four realms and the magic that worked there."

Valerius just nodded his head in understanding while the look on Damien’s face appeared quite weird as she couldn’t understand what he was thinking about. On the other hand, Kenric almost chuckled in response but stopped when her eyes landed on him. "What is it?" She asked.

"You are telling me that magic and spells are the only things that you have studied your entire life?" The man asked and while it could be easily misunderstood that he was mocking her for not learning about other important topics, the matter was different here. Though he was indeed mocking her, it was for a completely different reason.

"You!" Annalise glared at him and it made him forget all about teasing her.

"I’m sorry, Little Bird. I just wanted to tease you. Besides, the number of spells that you know isn’t really low and your knowledge about the four realms isn’t that bad either. I think you have mastered all that was provided to you." He did try to cover it up but Annalise wasn’t buying it.

She just completely ignored him and turned her attention to the other two men who had been silently watching the interaction between her and Kenric.

"Wifey..." Kenric called her in a sweet and pleading voice as he turned on her sleeve but she continued to ignore him. How dare he make fun of her limited knowledge about magic and spells only because he was good at both of them?

"What are we going to do now?" She asked while keeping her gaze fixed between Damien and Valerius.

The two brothers shared a look before Valerius answered, "Let’s pay the City Governor a visit. It’s time he should answer some of our questions and explain exactly what’s going on."
