The Vampire Prince's Blindfolded Bride -
Chapter 412: A beautiful end
Chapter 412: A beautiful end
"My lovely princess, Aveline! This isn’t how you should trouble your father. Where are you hiding? Come out!" Magnus called out, his gaze sweeping over the garden as he searched for his mischievous daughter.
Aveline, the daughter of Magnus and Alora, was no ordinary child. At just one year old, she had the appearance of a four-year-old, growing at an extraordinary rate.
But it wasn’t just her rapid growth that set her apart—Aveline had awakened a remarkable and rare ability only a month ago. She could hypnotize people with nothing more than a stare.
However, there was one curious exception: her mother, Alora, seemed immune to her power, the only one unaffected.
Everyone else, however, fell under Aveline’s spell with ease, and no one discovered her gift until the day she accidentally hypnotized her grandfather, King Esmond.
One look into her eyes, and the mighty king spent the entire day playing with her, entirely under her influence.
When he finally broke free from the trance, it became clear to everyone just how unique Aveline’s abilities were.
Magnus went after a tree, but Aveline had already changed her location. She is such a fast runner. Hiding behind a tree opposite to where Magnus was standing Aveline was giggling lightly.
Magnus’s ears heard that and finally he caught his daughter.
"But Father, I was only in the garden! I thought you would catch me since you’re so strong," Aveline pouted, her lips forming a perfect little curve of frustration.
Magnus chuckled, his large hand brushing a stray curl from her face. "I want my brother to grow up faster," Aveline added with a slight whine, her small hands gripping his tunic. "He’s still such a tiny baby. Aunt Scarlet said he’ll grow up quick once he turns two or three, but do I really have to wait that long, Father? Even Aunt Venus’s, Aunt Lillian’s and Aunt Selvina’s babies are still so young. I want someone my age to play with!" Her voice took on a pleading tone, and she kicked her legs in his arms in a playful protest, her pout deepening.
Magnus couldn’t help but grin at her antics. "Well, perhaps we can ask your mother for a solution," he suggested with a knowing smile, heading toward the manor’s grand corridor.
Aveline’s eyes lit up, sparkling with excitement. "Mother has a solution for this?" she asked, her pout quickly turning into wide-eyed enthusiasm.
"Yes, she just might," Magnus replied, his tone teasing.
They reached the chamber, where Alora stood giving the maidservants instructions on rearranging the drawing room. At the sight of her mother, Aveline wiggled out of Magnus’s arms and bolted toward her.
"Mother!" she cried, flinging herself into Alora’s embrace. Alora, startled but amused, wrapped her arms around her daughter tightly.
"What is it, my love?" Alora asked, tilting her head down to look at her daughter’s eager face.
"I want someone my age to play with!" Aveline said earnestly. "Like a brother or sister. Can we have one?"
Alora blinked in surprise, momentarily taken aback. Behind her, Magnus smiled mischievously at the turn of events, even as the maids tried to hide their own grins. Sensing their presence, he waved them away with a playful wink, signaling that the conversation was about to take a personal turn.
Alora, still processing, offered a gentle laugh. "Your cousins will grow up soon enough, Aveline. You’ll have plenty of playmates then."
Magnus, not missing a beat, leaned in with a teasing glint in his eye. "Well, Wife," he drawled, "we could always have another baby ourselves. Wouldn’t that be more fun?"
Alora shot him a sharp look, her eyes warning him not to make such comments in front of their daughter. But Magnus, clearly enjoying himself, just smiled wider.
"My own sibling! Yes! That sounds perfect!" Aveline clapped her hands in excitement, her eyes shining. "Mother, ask the Lunar God for another baby, just like you asked for me," she insisted, her stubbornness clear in her tone.
Alora, momentarily speechless, felt her cheeks flush a deep crimson as Magnus burst into laughter. He found his wife’s embarrassment endearing, but he also knew when to step in. "Aveline, let’s give your mother a little break, alright?" he said, still chuckling softly. He placed his hand gently atop Aveline’s head. "You’ll have someone your age to play with soon enough. In the meantime, how about you play with me?"
Aveline looked up at him, her pout dissolving into a bright smile. "Okay, Father!" she chirped.
Magnus grinned down at her. "Now, close your eyes for a moment. Father needs to give your mother a kiss."
Aveline giggled, covering her face with her tiny hands. "Okay!" she squealed, clearly enjoying the playful moment.
Alora shot Magnus a half-serious glare, swatting lightly at his chest. "She’s still just a little girl. Think before you speak," she scolded in a whisper, though the corners of her lips betrayed a smile.
Magnus leaned closer, lowering his voice as he pressed a soft kiss to her lips. "It’s not wrong to think about another baby," he murmured against her mouth.
Alora felt her heart flutter despite herself. "Is it done? Can I open my eyes now?" Aveline’s eager voice interrupted, her hands still covering her face.
"Yes, sweetheart," Alora replied, laughing softly.
As Aveline uncovered her eyes, Magnus suddenly sensed the presence of his elder brother. He turned and saw Izaak entering the room, accompanied by Melody.
"Melody!" Alora gasped in surprise, her eyes lighting up at the sight of Izaak’s wife.
Aveline spun around, her eyes widening in recognition. "Uncle Izaak’s wife is awake!" she exclaimed joyfully, running over to her. "I am Aveline Lukeson. It’s so nice to meet you, Aunt Melody. You are so beautiful," she added, giving a little curtsy, just as her mother had taught her.
Melody’s face softened with a warm smile. She knelt down to Aveline’s height, pulling her into a gentle hug. "Thank you, Aveline. I’ve enjoyed your visits with your mother every day, and I appreciate the compliment," she said, her voice filled with affection. Then she turned to Alora, her eyes full of admiration. "Princess Alora’s daughter is as beautiful as her," she added warmly.
Magnus observed the scene, his gaze shifting to Izaak. Reading his brother’s thoughts, Magnus could sense the happiness radiating from him. Izaak had finally found someone who truly loved him, and Magnus couldn’t have been happier for him.
Scarlet and Alaric soon arrived at the chamber, joining the gathering with warm congratulations for Izaak and Melody. The room filled with light laughter and joy as the three brothers finally stood together, while their wives gathered nearby, chatting with Melody. Aveline, ever curious, stood between the princesses, attentively listening to their conversation with wide eyes.
As the brothers exchanged glances, it was Alaric who broke the silence first. "Doesn’t my wife look beautiful?" he said proudly, glancing over at Scarlet with a smile full of admiration.
Izaak grinned, unwilling to be outdone. "No, mine is more beautiful," he declared, his voice full of affection as he looked toward Melody, who stood radiant despite the recent challenges she had faced.
Magnus, watching both of his brothers, chuckled before asserting with playful confidence, "No one can beat Alora in her beauty. And of course, my daughter is prettiest."
The three brothers exchanged heartfelt smiles, their bond strengthened by the journey they had traveled together.
Magnus then spoke, "I’m truly happy for you, Izaak," he said, turning to his eldest brother. "You’ve finally found your own family... something you’ve desired for so many years."
Izaak nodded, his eyes began softening. "Thank you, Magnus," he replied.
Magnus then turned to Alaric, his tone still gentle. "And you, Alaric. You’ve also found true love with Scarlet. It’s good to see how well you two complement each other. Moments like these... we never thought they’d come into our lives, did we?"
Alaric smiled deeply, reflecting on how far they had all come. "You’re right, Magnus," he said, his voice filled with quiet gratitude. "I feel content and truly blessed by the divinity for giving me a wonderful wife like Scarlet—and for the gift of a son with her."
In a rare moment of quiet emotion, Izaak stepped forward, placing his hands on both of his brothers’ shoulders. He pulled them closer with a silent gesture of affection.
Alaric and Magnus exchanged glances with Izaak before smiling, the unspoken understanding between them saying more than words they could express. In that embrace, there was brotherhood, strength, and the shared joy of having found their own families and happiness after many years of struggle.
