Chapter 165: Melody, we may meet again

"Magnus, please stop. Please..." Alora pleaded again. "I’ll be in trouble. I-I should f-focus on the work," she managed to utter words while trying to keep her mind away from the sweet torture he was giving her.

Alora moved away from him as she placed her hands on his chest. "We are in the council," she reminded him.

"Then, I shall make sure no one comes inside," Magnus stated and with his vampiric speed, he went to the door to close it from inside. Alora’s eyes widened since she knew what could happen next.

"Magnus, are you crazy?" Alora gaped at him when he held her hand and kissed her knuckles.

"Yes, I’m crazy for you," Magnus huskily answered and kissed her every finger.

Alora’s heart thundered against her chest and the next second, she found herself seated on the desk.

"Say that you don’t want me and I’m going to make you see how your body betrays you," Magnus challenged, his gaze penetrating as his thumb caressed her soft cheeks, awaiting her response.

"Prince Magnus, I do want you, but here... No. It’s not right," Alora resisted, her voice wavering with desire and restraint. "We are here for work. I promise we will resume it later when we are free," she urged, attempting to convince him despite her desire for him.

Magnus agreed to her since his wife wasn’t ready, he felt it wasn’t right to force her when she had the fear. "Alright." He brushed her hair with his long fingers, admiring her beauty with a tiny smile across his lips.

She walked past him and sat down on her chair. Magnus, on the other hand, opened the door from inside before settling on the chair.

"Alora, here is the hearing we both need to be present at. It involves a human and a vampire," Magnus asserted.

"What is it about?" Alora asked.

"They are in love," Magnus replied. "But both the families aren’t ready to let them marry. So, they have applied a plea here giving the example of us," he stated with pride.

"Oh." Alora was slightly surprised to learn that. "How can we help them?" she questioned.

"That’s what we have to find out after meeting them," Magnus said.

"Hmm. Then, shall we go now?" Alora inquired.

"No, they will be here at noon. Before that let me tell you something interesting. Nikitin and 78 other noble vampires have been demoted in their ranks in the morning."

"Huh? Why?"

"Well, it’s a long story. But I’ll brief you. In the slave market, female humans were being traded as blood slaves and prostitutes. The young girls would be abducted from the villages or towns and brought here. Brother Izaak freed those humans and even commanded them to make arrangements to provide those women a better living," Magnus explained to her.

Alora’s heart sank to learn that. "That’s so upsetting to learn. Are they all well?" she queried. "It must be traumatic for them. We should do something for them. I don’t think their families would accept them either," she muttered with a worried glance.

"Brother Izaak is looking into this matter. You can talk to him regarding this later in the evening," Magnus suggested to her.

"Okay. I hope those females find a way to live a life again," Alora murmured while feeling troubled. "Your Highness, but doesn’t blood slaves exist?" she then asked.

"They do, however, humans are willing to give it to us. We pay them for it," Magnus asserted. "But evils exist everywhere. So, the vampires found a way to suppress the humans. I was quite impressed when Izaak took immediate action. Usually, he would refrain," he remarked, feeling proud of his elder brother.

"Brother Izaak did a wonderful job," Alora said as she found that he was not ignorant after all.

"Your Grace!"

Izaak turned his head when he heard the same female voice, who hid behind him the last night. The door of the coach remained open as he didn’t get in.

"Your Highness, we will throw her out. We have no idea how a human entered here." The two guards glared at her, ready to drag her out of the giant gate.

"Just let me talk to the prince for a minute," the female requested. However, those two didn’t pay heed to her and caught her by grabbing her both arms.

"Stop!" Izaak instructed the guards immediately to halt.

The young woman quickly pulled away her arms from their hold and ran to Izaak.

"Thank you for yesterday, Your Highness. I-I was scared thinking I’d be sold off. I’ll never forget what you’ve done for all of us yesterday." The young woman kept her head and eyes low in gratitude.

"Your name," Izaak asked.

"Pardon me?" The young woman was a bit stunned.

"Prince Izaak has asked your name, Miss. Do you have impaired hearing?" The assistant to Izaak taunted her.

"Ahh, I apologize. I am Melody Rosenberg, Your Highness." Her eyes remained low as she didn’t dare to look into the eyes of the prince.

"Melody. Nice name," Izaak said and got into the coach. The coachman shut the door from outside while Melody remained rooted at her place.

Izaak opened the window and said, "Melody, we may meet in the future, again. Until then, you should leave and enjoy your life."

Melody didn’t understand what he meant by that. As she raised her head, she found the window was covered with the curtain. The carriage’s wheel rolled forward and it exited the premises of the Council.

Last night when he rescued those humans, he saw a vision, where he saw himself with Melody. However, it was a kind of unique vision– Melody was holding a red rose and her eyes were red. He even saw himself smiling at her.

"It can’t be possible," Izaak wanted to ignore this feeling, but he couldn’t. He wondered if Melody was the woman of his life, who would love him unconditionally or would she betray him like his late four former wives?
