"Grandma wanted to kill our mother in the past. That’s why Father sent her to Elmswood on Alora’s request," Elliot informed Venus, who was on the bed. "We failed to understand our own sister," he added.

"But when did Grandma plan to do all this?" asked Venus with a confused glance. She had caught the cold, so she had a warm cup of tea in her hands.

"Even before Alora was born. The day Mother gave birth to our sister, Grandma had instructed the midwives to kill our mother later. However, they both perished thanks to our sister. This is what a Lunar Goddess, Stella, told Alora and Prince Magnus. She is the one, who blessed Alora with those eyes," Elliot explained to his sister.

Venus was upset to learn that. She never thought her grandmother would think something like this for Rhea. She sipped the remaining tea and placed the cup on the bedside table.

"So, Grandma won’t ever return," Venus inquired.

"I don’t think so. Father will go to see Grandma, but she’s not allowed to come here. If Sister Venus noticed, the hatred we carried in our hearts for our big sister was because of Grandma," Elliot opined.

"Hmm. You are right." She recalled how Madam Aubrey always told her to stay away from Alora. She used to call Alora a jinx. And she learned only to carry hate toward her sister in the process.

Elliot felt that his sister needed rest. He told her he would leave and stood up. "Take some rest," he said and he left her room.

As the doors shut, Venus blankly stared at the ceiling of her room. Silent tears escaped her eyes, which she didn’t wipe. She didn’t even realize the presence of her mother in the room unless Rhea pronounced her name.

Venus looked at her mother, forgetting that her eyes had tears. "Mother," she propped on her elbows to sit when Rhea sat in front of her. She wiped the tears from her eyes and asked Venus why was she crying. However, she didn’t get any reply from Venus.

"I brought the herbal tonic for you. The doctor said that you need to take it every evening," Rhea informed her in a soft tone. She picked up the bowl and stirred the content of the tonic inside it.

Venus took the bowl from her and chugged the tonic in one gulp. Rhea was quite surprised because Venus used to find them bitter and would always take it with something sweet. Setting the bowl on the table, Venus looked at her mother, who looked surprised.

"Living in the prison taught me to eat everything without throwing any tantrums," Venus said. "Forgive me, Mother, for always saying evil things to you. I was harsh at my own mother. I failed to understand her, and always kept negative feelings inside me," she asserted while lowering her head.

"It’s good that now your eyes are opened. Your sister was never a curse to any of us. Because of her, prosperity came into this house. A lot of good things happen. When you were born, your father got promoted while Elliot’s birth made promoted your father to the position of the High Chancellor. All my kids are equal and lucky for me. So, don’t ever compare yourself with Alora or anyone. You are unique in your own way," Rhea explained

"Does Mother still believe me?" Venus inquired to confirm again.

"Yes, I do." Rhea patted her cheek before planting a soft kiss in the center of her forehead. "I’ll put you to sleep. You need a proper rest," she stated and lay down Venus on the mattress. Rhea caressed her hair as she sat beside her daughter and helped her in sleeping.

After Venus drifted to sleep, Rhea decided to leave the room, but Venus caught her hand in her sleep. Her hold was so tight that it showed to Rhea that she wasn’t ready to let her go. Rhea also decided to remain by her daughter’s side since at this moment Venus wanted her the most.

Magnus got rid of his formal clothes and entered the pool of water. The day was tiring for him. He thought he would remain by Alora’s side, but an important work and command from his father forced him to go out.

He rested his head on the pool platform and let his body relax in the warm water. Once the heat of the water dissipated, Magnus left the pool and wiped his body well with a towel before wearing a robe.

Entering the dressing chamber, Magnus changed into a comfortable night outfit when Tobias informed him how Alora awaited his return.

"Didn’t she take the supper?" Magnus questioned.

"His Highness knows how Princess Alora acts," said Tobias with a tiny smile on his lips. "But she had her supper earlier."

"Hmm. Great!" Magnus told him goodnight and went to the bedchamber.

"I apologize for my tardiness," Magnus offered as he entered the bedchamber, his gaze immediately drawn to Alora, who was draped in a crimson robe.

His eyes lingered, unblinking, as he took in the sight: the slit in her dress revealing a tempting glimpse of her left thigh, the curves of her figure accentuated by the fabric. The sleeves of the robe hung loosely, flaring at the wrists, as her long hair cascaded down her back and over her shoulders, framing her in an aura of allure.

Alora took her lower lip in between her teeth as she began fiddling with her fingers. Her heart thumped loudly against her chest to witness his penetrating gaze at her.

"His Highness was busy today. He should drink the blood," Alora turned to the poster bed and slowly walked to the left side, where the bedside table lay.

Magnus was quick to reach her and blocked her way. "Why have you worn this kind of dress?" he asked.

"Selvina said I should try it," Alora replied, her long eyelashes blinking rapidly.

"To seduce me?" Magnus asked as he arched his eyebrow at her.
