Chapter 106: Alora needs me
Chapter 106: Alora needs me
The next morning, Alora was too lazy to get out of bed while Magnus was still asleep. She pulled out her notebook from inside the drawer along with other items. Instead of writing, she started drawing– The Sleeping Magnus.
Half an hour later when she finished, she let it dry for some time. Suddenly, she felt pain in her lower abdominal region, which reminded her of her monthly cycle. She quickly jumped out of the bed and ran to the washroom.
Hearing the thud of the door closing, Magnus’s sleep broke abruptly. Blinking groggily, he realized Alora was nowhere to be seen, but instead, he found a notebook, an inkpot, and a pen left behind.
He sat up on the bed and picked up the notebook. A few of its pages were filled, making him realize that Alora started it recently. "Is it her personal journal?" Magnus mumbled. Though he didn’t wish to read it, he couldn’t end his curiosity about what was inside it.
Magnus opened the first page and found it she started it the day she shed wearing the blindfold. She had written in broken sentences, which made Magnus smile. Though she had written less, he could feel the intensity of her emotions. As he flipped more pages, he saw his drawings on it.
Magnus came across his drawing figure beside which Alora had written– "Alora Loves Magnus." A smile was carved on his lips to read it. After some time, he placed it in its place, waiting for Alora to come out of the washroom.
As Magnus lay on the mattress, he recalled that he had yet to give her a surprise soon. A week was going to pass soon, then one more week would remain.
Magnus closed his momentarily when Alora finally emerged in the room. He found she looked low in energy in the morning, which was unusual for her character.
"Good morning, Love," Magnus greeted her.
Alora came to him and sat beside him. She rested her head on his shoulder and wrapped her hand around him. "Good morning," she returned the greeting.
Magnus sensed something was off with her. His hand moved to the top of her head as he caressed it. "Is everything fine?" he asked.
"My monthly cycle started today," Alora informed him.
Magnus lowered his head briefly before meeting her gaze. "Do you feel pain?" he asked.
"Yes, but it’s bearable," Alora replied, managing a faint smile despite the discomfort.
"Lay down. You should rest. I’ll bring something hot for you to drink," Magnus stated, his concern evident for his wife.
"I will take a bath first," Alora asserted.
"You can do that later too if the pain is too much," Magnus suggested.
"No," Alora refused, sitting up straight. She glanced at the notebook and asked if he had read it.
"I checked it and read a few things," Magnus admitted truthfully.
"You didn’t have to read it," Alora muttered and put the notebook inside the drawer. She then went to the cupboard and took out a gown, which needed no corset to wear. Magnus, on the other hand, prepared to go down to order the servants to make a hot chocolate for Alora.
After Alora headed to the bathhouse, Magnus went downstairs.

Alora returned to the room after having a hot bath, feeling much better. She found the room was already cleaned, the sheets were changed. Magnus came to her side, placing his hand on her back. He brought her to bed and made her sit on it by keeping some pillows behind her back.
"I feel better, Magnus. You don’t need to take so much care of me," Alora said.
Magnus handed her a mug filled with hot chocolate, topped with berries.
"What is it?" Alora was surprised.
"A hot drink for you. It will help in relieving the pain," Magnus stated, offering her a spoon as well.
Alora thanked him and ate the strawberries from its top first. Magnus thought of brushing her hair and went to the dressing table. He brought the comb with him and sat beside her.
"Let me brush your hair," Magnus said.
Alora turned her back at him and he took out the wrapped towel from her hair. He gently moved the brush in her hair. "What would you like to eat for breakfast? I’ll ask the servants to prepare that kind of food only," Magnus said.
"I’d like to eat milk and rice porridge," Alora replied.
"Alright."
Alora enjoyed the hot chocolate drink along with the gentle care she got from Magnus. Magnus took the mug from her and placed it on the tray. "Have some rest. I brushed your hair as well." Magnus left the room, taking the tray with him. Outside he handed it to a servant and then instructed her about the breakfast Alora wished to eat.
Magnus returned to the room and saw Alora was resting. He wondered if she was already asleep because then he would not disturb her.
As she opened her eyes, she lazily said, "I feel sleepy. I think I’ll sleep for some time."
"Alright. Get some sleep," Magnus said softly, watching her lay down before covering her with the duvet. Planting a gentle kiss on her forehead, he whispered, "I’ll freshen up quickly."
"Hmm," Alora acknowledged, her eyes already drifting shut.
Alora watched him leave as she quickly succumbed to sleep. Half an hour later, Magnus returned to the room in his usual robes, his damp hair slightly disheveled as he ran his fingers through it.
Discovering Alora was still asleep, he didn’t disturb her and went downstairs to check if the porridge was ready.
"Frederick has found the human. Your assumption was right. It’s a vampire hunter," Izaak informed him as he saw his brother crossing the living room.
"That’s great," Magnus gave a nonchalant response.
"Shouldn’t you ask me when we both will see the Vampire Hunter?" Izaak arched his eyebrow at him.
"I’m not interested in going out today. Alora needs me," Magnus stated. Just then, Louis entered the living room, informing Magnus that the porridge was ready.
"Why? Is everything fine? How’s Alora? I didn’t see her around," Izaak inquired.
"She’s not feeling well and is resting in the room," Magnus replied. "I’ll talk with Brother Izaak later," he added before heading to the kitchen.
