The Useless Prince Is A Gangster
Chapter 97. Massacre

Chapter 97: 97. Massacre

Leo stood in the centre of the dark guild’s hall, the bound and unconscious guild master slumped at his feet. A ring of mercenaries, dozens strong has encircled him, their weapons drawn, eyes burning with hostility.

Leo exhaled. "Really, folks? Can’t I just take this guy and leave? I need him for a quick chat."

The mercenaries stared, incredulous at his nerve. One spat, "You joking, kid?"

Another squinted, suspicion sharpening his tone. "Who’s this guy?"

A scarred veteran shouted, "That’s the Caulem heir! The one with the fat bounty which blacklisted after that job!"

A younger mercenary sneered, "The useless noble brat, huh?"

A burly man, brimming with reckless bravado, pushed through the crowd, grabbing Leo’s cloak and pressing a dagger to his throat with a mocking grin. "Don’t know how you got the boss, kid, but you think you’re walking out of here alive?"

Leo’s eyes locked onto his, cold and unflinching. "Question is," he murmured, "you think you’ll be alive when I do?"

The mercenary faltered, confused, but before he could react, a swift slice rang out. His hand, still clutching Leo’s cloak, hit the floor, severed clean.

He stared at the bleeding stump, his scream raw and guttural. Leo flicked the Blood Dragger, blood dripping from it, and slashed once more, cutting the man’s throat. He collapsed, lifeless.

[Hostiles Eliminated: 01/32] flashed in Leo’s vision.

The hall went silent, the mercenaries frozen in shock. Then a voice roared, "Take him!"

A swordsman lunged, blade slashing downward, but Leo sidestepped effortlessly. Nimbus, shifting into his panther form in a blur, pounced, pinning the man and tearing out his throat with a savage bite.

The mercenaries staggered back, shocked by the sudden appearance of the beast.

[Hostiles Eliminated: 02/32]

Nimbus prowled around Leo, blood on his jaws, his growl a low warning. Leo’s smirk was sharp, taunting. "Who’s next?"

The mercenaries snapped out of their shock, rage overtaking fear, and charged in a chaotic mob, weapons flashing. Leo and Nimbus moved by taking whoever they got.

An axe holding mercenary swung at Leo, but he ducked, the Blood Dagger slashing upward, gutting the man in a spray of blood. Another attacked from behind, only for Nimbus to leap, and killing him.

A third came from the side, but a shadow spike erupted from Leo’s shadow, piercing his chest.

[Hostiles Eliminated: 05/32]

A surge of mana prickled Leo’s senses, and he dropped into a crouch as a Zerfahl spell sliced through the air above him. He glanced back, spotting a mage at the hall’s rear, staff aiming at him.

The mage unleashed a Vulkzahn, burning spikes rocketing toward Leo. He vaulted over a table, the spike exploding against the ground where Leo stood earlier. Leo landed in a roll, hiding behind the fallen table.

The mage unleashed another Vulkzahn, the spike destroyed the table in a blast of flames and splinters.

Mercenaries roared, charging the wreckage, thinking Leo was trapped. The mage smirked, lowering his staff, but his confidence shattered as the smoke cleared. Leo was not there. In his place there’s two shadow wraiths, their purple eyes glowing with killing intent, surrounded by mercenaries bodies with claw marks on chests.

Their roars echoes through the hall, sending the remaining fighters stumbling back in primal fear.

The wraiths lunged, claws ripping through anyone too slow to flee. The mercenaries’ resolve crumbled, many turning to run, but the wraiths were merciless, cutting them down with brutal precision.

The mage froze, a chill at his back. Leo stood behind him, his voltsteel glove pressed against the mage’s spine, channeling with fire mana. "Looking for me?" Leo’s voice was a low.

He drove his fist forward, the mana-charged strike punching a hole through the mage’s chest. The mage crumpled, lifeless.

The hall descended into chaos.

A mercenary swung a broadsword at Leo, but he parried with the Blood Dragger, twisting to drive the blade through the man’s jaw, killing him instantly.

Nimbus ripped through the flanks, his claws ripping armor and flesh, leaving behind a line of corpses.

[Hostiles Eliminated: 22/32]

The remaining mercenaries, their ranks dwindling, attempted to rally. A hulking giant wielding a warhammer roared, charging at Leo, but Nimbus leapt upon him, jaws closing around the man’s arm and pulling him down. Leo ended him with a careful slash across the throat.

[Hostiles Eliminated: 30/32]

The final mercenary, shaking, fumbled and dropped his sword and ran out of the door. A shadow wraith appeared, its claw sinking into his back and pulling out his heart in one smooth motion. He fell, deceased.

[Hostiles Eliminated: 32/32]

Leo stood in the midst of the carnage, cloak smeared with blood, the air heavy with the smell of blood. Nimbus shifted back to his cat form, licking a paw indifferently as if mass slaughter was the normal. Leo exhaled, sending the Blood Dragger to his item space with a mental command.

Leo scanned the rewards, his face grim, no hint of satisfaction. He has no time to celebrate this, "Took too long." Taking the man’s bindings, he dragged him toward the exit, the wraiths melting back into his shadow. Nimbus walkinng alongside.

Outside, the two Caulem soldiers stood guard, their faces paling as Leo emerged, his cloak and gloves dripping with blood which not his own, he’s dragging the guild master behind him.

"Young Master!" one gasped, voice shaky. "Are you ok? What happened in there?"

Leo tossed the guild master’s bindings forward, his tone sharp and commanding. "Secure him for interrogation. Summon a unit to sweep the guild hall for records and clean up the bodies, no one’s left alive."

The soldiers froze, grappling with the implication of Leo’s words, a lone man annihilating an entire guild.

"Now!" Leo barked, his voice cutting through their shock. They jolted into action, stammering, "Yes, sir!" as they scrambled to comply, one rushed to signal reinforcements while the other secured the prisoner.
