The Useless Prince Is A Gangster
Chapter 93. Alliance

Chapter 93: 93. Alliance

Brakk shaking with fear at Leo’s cold gaze, his plan to murder Leo in secret without telling the Wolves now a broken dream. He had wanted to take the glory and advance in the guild, but his greed had brought him directly into a trap.

Leo stands, the smirk on his face is cold, and out of his shadow, two wraiths formed, dark, ghostly beings with glowing purple eyes, their forms twisting like living smoke. Brakk’s breath stopped, fear gripping him, and even Liana froze, her eyes wide at the otherworldly beings.

Nimbus, reverting to his cat form, stepped back with a low growl, his purple eyes fixed on Brakk. The wraiths seized Brakk’s arms, forcing him to his knees with relentless strength, their grip unyielding.

Leo crouched to Brakk’s level, one wraith yanking Brakk’s hair to tilt his face up, ensuring he met Leo’s gaze. Leo’s voice was a low, chilling murmur. "Why...., what..., who.....forget that questions. Let’s have a chat."

Brakk’s voice quivered, desperate. "Just... let me go!" But the wraiths tightened their hold, twisting his arms with deliberate slowness, making a ragged scream from him.

Leo laughed, dripping with mockery. "You picked a nice, quiet spot, didn’t you? No one’s coming to pull you out of this. Watched me for four days, studied my fights, cooked up your little counter-plan." He leaned closer, his eyes glinting with menace. "Problem is, your plan’s garbage."

Brakk’s breaths were shallow, sweat and blood mingling on his pale face. "I... I didn’t mean—"

Leo cut him off. "That’s why I baited you out today. Thought you’d be smarter, but you’re dumber than a rat." His smirk turned cruel. "You really think Liana’s reckless enough to chase a thief and leave me exposed?" He nodded to the wraiths, who dug their claws into Brakk’s shoulders, piercing skin, while another twisted his wrist, the bone cracking sharply. Brakk’s screams grew hoarse, his body shuddering in pain.

Nimbus, now a normal black cat, padded to Liana, brushing against her ankle with a soft purr. Liana flinched, still shocked by his panther form, but held her ground, her eyes locked on the scene. Leo circled Brakk slowly, his tone casual. "Could’ve come for you myself, but I wanted my coin pouch back. I’m greedy, you know."

Brakk whimpered, his voice breaking. "Please... no more..." The wraiths twisted his arm further, bones broken with a sickening crunch. He collapsed, sobbing, but a wraith jerked his hair, forcing his gaze up. Leo towered over him, his voice ice cold. "Who’s your group?"

Brakk’s lips trembled, his voice barely audible. "I... I’m alone."

Leo’s eyes narrowed, and a wraith grabbed Brakk’s ankle, snapping it with a brutal twist. Brakk’s scream echoed in the empty alley. Leo leaned in, his voice low. "Lie again, and you lose more than bones. You’re with a crew hunting me, but you got greedy, wanted to kill for yourself." His crimson stare into Brakk’s soul. "Your buddies might rethink their plans when they find what’s left of you."

Brakk’s eyes widened, pure terror shaking him. He was trapped, his schemes in tatters, facing a predator who’d outplayed him at every turn.

Hours later, the three remaining Wolves standing in the site, their faces pale as they look at Brakk’s mutilated corpse. The sight was grotesque, his limbs severed with surgical precision, his head set upright on the bloodied cobblestones, his torso cut out, heart and organs discarded in a grisly pile.

These were seasoned mercenaries, their hands stained with blood with many gruesome murders, yet this level of brutality twisted their stomachs, forcing them to look away.

The largest guy spoke, his voice unsteady. "That... can’t be Brakk. Gotta be a mistake." He tried to laugh, but it came out hollow, trying desperately to deny it.

The bald leader, his eyes fixed on the corpse, shook his head. "It’s him. Brakk’s dead."

The third, a lean man with nervous eyes, stared at Brakk’s lifeless face, its frozen expression haunting. "Who could do this? Brakk was untouchable." His voice dropped to a whisper. "The target?"

The large man shook his head, stubborn. "No way. Brakk was a professional, no one could’ve spotted him. He was still tailing that bastard, right?"

The leader’s voice was low, heavy with horror. "You forgot about the daek guild’s warning. Our target’s not just dangerous, he’s psycho." He glanced at the corpse, his face tightening. "But this... this is beyond human."

"Really?" A calm, chilling voice made silent, raising the hairs on their necks.

They turned back, drawing weapons, but the alley was empty. Turning back, they froze. There’s a man in a pristine white cloak crouched in front of Brakk’s corpse, studying it with curiosity. His brown hair fell neatly, and his presence carried an unnatural weight, like a predator playing at civility.

The Wolves’ feels heavy under his presence.

The guy muttered, almost to himself, "Well, damn. The Ruler’s prophecy is as ruthless as they say."

The bald leader gripped his sword. "Who are you?"

The man stood, turning to reveal a soft smile that didn’t touch his cold, calculating eyes. "Draeven," he said smoothly. "Pleasure to meet you."

"Who the hell are you?" the large man growled, raising his axe, only to freeze as a cold blade pressed against his lower back.

He glanced back to see a woman, Sylo, stood behind him, her presence as deadly as Draeven’s, her voice a low murmur. "move, and I open you up."

The Wolves’ eyes darted between Draeven and Sylo, trapped in a vice of fear. Draeven’s smile widened, disarmingly casual. "I’m tracking the ones hired to kill the Ruler’s prophecy."

The bald leader’s brow furrowed, cautious. "Ruler’s prophecy? What’s that supposed to mean?"

Draeven tilted his head, thoughtful. "Oh, what’s his name...?"

Sylo’s voice was flat. "Leonhardt Caulem."

"Right, Leonhardt Caulem," Draeven said, snapping his fingers with a grin. "You’re the crew paid to take him out, aren’t you?" The leader gave a reluctant nod, and Draeven chuckled, glancing at Brakk’s corpse. "Seems your friend here tried to get a head start. Bad move."

The leader’s voice was steady but tense. "What do you want from us?"

Draeven’s eyes glinted with dark intent. "Revenge for your buddy sounds appealing?" The Wolves exchanged glances, their anger boiling, and nodded slowly. Draeven’s smile turned sharp, predatory. "Good. Work with me, and we’ll carve up Caulem together."
