The Useless Prince Is A Gangster
Chapter 47. The Duel

Chapter 47: 47. The Duel

"Begin!" Liora’s voice rang out sharply, and the two fighters moved instantly.

Their speed was incredible, in a blink, and they were clashing. Faelar thrust his spear forward, the tip crackling with electric mana as he aimed for Leo’s chest.

Leo’s katana blazed with fire mana as he brought it up to parry the blow. Sparks erupted as the energies met. Faelar stumbled for a moment but regained his footing, spinning his spear in a great circle.

Leo dodges and stepped in with a blazing slash at Faelar’s side. Fire radiating from his blade, the flames following the path. Faelar gritted his teeth and shifted his footing, using the spear to intercept the strike. Fire and electricity clashed in a burst of energy, throwing both fighters backward.

Leo landed on his feet, sliding slightly as he regained his balance. Faelar rolled across the ground but stood quickly. Around them, the dome shimmered faintly, absorbing the shockwaves from their clash.

From her seat, Eislinde leaned forward. "He’s channeling mana into a weapon that’s not Soul Resonance," she murmured. "I wonder how he’s managing that."

Her short assistant, standing beside her, nodded quickly. "That’s what he used to beat Garrik. But it’s not something most people can do."

Huldrich muttered as he watched closely. "It takes extraordinary focus to hold mana like that."

Faelar steadied himself and leveled his spear at Leo. "I underestimated you," he admitted, his voice calm but with a hint of frustration. "Let’s see how long you can keep this up."

His spear sparked as lightning orbs appeared at its tip, glowing brighter. With a swift motion, Faelar launched the orbs toward Leo.

Leo smirked, his katana flaring with flames as he charged forward. His sword cut the orbs in half, exploding, but Leo did not let up. In seconds, he was on Faelar, swinging his katana high in a bid to deliver a killing blow.

Faelar responded quickly, spinning his spear upwards to intercept Leo’s attack. The weapons collided mid-air in a blinding arc of energy. The force threw both fighters backward, their bodies skidding across the arena floor.

Panting slightly, Faelar raised his spear, the electric energy around it surging.

"Tired already?" Leo said with a faint grin.

"No, I am enjoying this." Faelar said as he slammed the spear’s base into the ground, releasing a powerful shockwave that rippled across the arena.

Leo activated wind mana at his feet, propelling himself backward to dodge the incoming shockwave. Though he avoided the attack, his landing wasn’t perfect—he slid onto one knee.

As he looked up, Faelar was already closing in, his spear tip hovering inches from Leo’s face. Leo reacted quickly, leaning back and kicking Faelar’s leg out from under him. Faelar stumbled but he regained balance using his spear.

Leo took the opportunity, rolling to the side and swings his katana. Faelar blocked the strike just in time.

"You almost got me," Leo said, standing and adjusting his stance.

Faelar grinned. "The same could be said for you."

Leo raised his katana, fire mana swirling around the blade. "Let’s take this up a notch," he said, his voice brimming with confidence.

Faelar’s spear crackled louder, electricity dancing along its shaft. "I was hoping you’d say that."

Leo activated Mana Surge, his katana erupting into roaring flames.

Faelar pushed his spear to its limits, channeling a massive surge of electric mana into the weapon. The energy radiating from both weapons filled the dome.

In a flash, the two disappeared, their speeds unmatched as they clashed mid-air. The collision made an explosion which is so intense that the dome trembled, its barrier flickering from the force. Shockwaves rattled the chamber.

The arena filled with smoke, obscuring both combatants entirely. Everyone waiting for the haze to clear. Slowly, the smoke faded, revealing Leo and Faelar still standing. Their bodies were battered and bleeding, their breathing heavy, but their resolve remained unbroken.

Faelar raised his spear, the energy flickering faintly around it. "Do you yield, Leonhardt?"

Leo chuckled, lifting his katana despite the blood dripping from his fingers. "Not a fuking chance."

Faelar smirked, his weapon sparking with determination. "Good, I love that. Let’s finish this."

From the seats, Huldrich frowned deeply. "If they keep this up, they’ll destroy themselves."

Stigrum nodded in agreement. "Someone has to stop them."

Just as the fighters launched at each other again, their weapons poised for another powerful strike, a bright flash interrupted the duel.

Liora appeared between them, her hands glowing with mana as she caught both weapons mid-swing. The dome flared briefly before stabilizing, the fight brought to end.

"The duel has officially ended," Liora declared. "It’s a draw."

Leo and Faelar stepped back, lowering their weapons as they caught their breath.

Volkahardt tapped his finger lightly on the table. In an instant, Leo and Faelar were teleported back to their seats. The dome faded, and the grand table returned to its original shape. It was as though the arena had never been there.

"An excellent performance from both of you," Volkahardt said, his voice calm and steady. "I believe everyone here found it... enlightening."

On the table before Leo and Faelar, bottles of potions appeared. "Drink these," Volkahardt instructed. "They’ll replenish your strength and restore your mana."

Leo and Faelar both picked up their bottles, drinking in one smooth motion. The effect was immediate. Their wounds began to heal, their breathing steadied, and renewed energy flowed through them.

Volkahardt leaned back. "Now, I ask the council—are there any further objections to Leonhardt Caulem’s position as the Bronze section leader?"

Huldrich spoke up first. "No more objections. Leonhardt has shown his strength and resolve. He’s earned his place."

Erin Dranemount nodded. "I agree. Leonhardt’s performance exceeded any expectations."

Eislinde’s eyes linger on Leo with interest. "I have no complaints. Consider me impressed," she said smoothly.

Stigrum leaned back casually, his green eyes amused. "I’ve seen all I need to. He deserves his spot."

But not everyone agreed. Darius sat stiffly in his seat, arms crossed, and Cassian too irritated by Leonhardt’s win.

Volkahardt’s expression didn’t change as he regarded Darius and Cassian. "The decision is made. The majority has accepted Leonhardt Caulem as the Bronze section leader," he announced, his voice firm. "Congratulations, Leonhardt."

He gestured, prompting the council members to clap. The applause was restrained but sincere.

Leo leaned back in his chair. His crimson eyes briefly flicked toward Darius and Cassian, his expression unreadable, before returning to Volkahardt.

The council president straightened, his voice calm but commanding. "Now, let us move to the next agenda."
