The Useless Prince Is A Gangster -
Chapter 122. Reo Carter
Chapter 122: 122. Reo Carter
Leo stood still, his hunting knife pressed against Erin’s chest, her violet eyes locked on his fierce red glare. The name, his true name, a secret only the Goddess Celestia knew, it hit like a lightning bolt, sparking a wild rage in Leo’s chest.
Erin’s smirk grew, sharp and bold, as she leaned back, her voice teasing. "I mean, your Chloe, Reo Carter." His face darkened, the mention of Chloe lighting a fire no one could tame.
"Don’t use her name!" He lunged, the knife flashing toward Erin’s throat, his eyes burning with a fury that could destroy everything.
Erin’s face stayed calm. "Elynn, disable the host’s motor function."
[Disabling Host’s motor function as requested by admin!]
Elynn’s voice chirped in Leo’s mind, and his body froze, every muscle locking mid-attack.
The knife stopped just short of Erin’s neck, his face twisted with anger, but he was trapped, like a caged beast. His red eyes glowed with fierce fury, his glare promising death if he broke free.
Erin turned to Vivien, whose tear-streaked face showed heartbreak, and her tone softened, like a shield. "Don’t worry, little sweetheart. We’re just playing, that’s all." Her magic veil blocked the rest, making sure Vivien and Lysa heard only her kind words, their ears shut to the storm of truths between Leo and Erin.
She faced Leo again, his deadly stare meeting her bold violet gaze, a silent dare to Try touch her. Her fingers touched the ring on the chain around his neck, lifting it with a soft, almost respectful smile. "You carry all this pain for her, don’t you? Damn, I admire your devotion."
She pinched his cheeks like a kid, her voice full of mockery. "Look at you, so cute, not even acting like a father." The mention of his unborn child sent a new wave of rage through Leo, his jaw clenching hard, even frozen.
Erin sighed, pretending to be disappointed, her voice a playful taunt. "Elynn, enable only his speech."
[Enabling speech-only mode.]
Leo’s jaw loosened, his voice free, though his body stayed locked.
His words were poison, each one burning with raw anger. "Don’t dare play games with Chloe. I’ll kill you."
Erin’s chuckle was light, not scared, but her eyes showed a hint of understanding. "Come on, we’re not blackmailing you. We didn’t take your Chloe as hostage. We’re offering you a chance to get back what you lost."
Leo’s teeth ground together, his voice sharp. "Then why drag her into this mess?"
Erin leaned closer, her tone turning serious, the teasing gone. "Because it’s the only way to reach you. Would you say yes if Celestia asked, ’Hey, Reo, save the world for me?’"
Leo’s silence said it all—he’d have said no without Chloe’s name, no doubt. Erin kept going, her voice softer but firm. "Trust me, Reo. I’ll make sure you find your Chloe, live your life with her, no threats, no shadows."
His eyes narrowed. "How can I trust you? You and that damn Goddess are probably toying with me, using Chloe like a puppet."
Erin’s face hardened, a quick look of hurt crossing her eyes. "You think we’re so bored we’d mess with a mortal for fun?" She sighed, his fierce glare unchanged, and spoke again, voice strong. "Elynn, re-enable motor function."
[Enabled the host motor function.]
Leo’s body relaxed, free to move, his knife shaking in his hand.
Erin met his gaze, her voice steady, a challenge. "If you still think we’re playing games, kill me now." She spread her arms wide, open, daring him. "Shred me into pieces until your rage calms."
Leo’s hand trembled, the knife raised, its blade shining with purpose. He wanted to strike, to end the lies, the tricks. But her violet eyes held him, deep with truth, sacrifice, something he couldn’t name.
It stopped his heart. His grip weakened, the knife slipping from his fingers, clattering to the bloody stone floor. He stumbled back, lost in her gaze, his rage fading into confusion, a deep ache in his chest he couldn’t understand.
He fell to his knees on the bloody stone, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned white, his teeth gritted as he slammed his fist into the scarred floor. Again and again, each hit a wild release of his burning rage, his blood mixing with dirt on the floor. Tears ran down his face, his crimson eyes raw with a deep sadness that tore at his heart.
Erin stepped forward, her usual teasing smirk gone, replaced by a look of deep, open sadness. She knelt infront him, reaching for his bloody, trembling hand to stop his endless punches, but Leo was lost in his anger, each hit a silent cry for Chloe, for the life taken from him.
"Reo, stop," she whispered, her voice breaking with rare softness, but he kept going, tears falling faster, his knuckles splitting on the stone. Erin’s face crumpled, her playful mask broken, showing a real care that matched his pain.
She grabbed his arms, her grip desperate but gentle, trying to hold him still, but his strength fought her, a storm too wild to calm.
With a quiet, shaky sob, she pulled him into a tight hug, wrapping her arms around his trembling body, her cheek pressed against his bloody hair, her own tears falling silently onto his shoulder.
Leo’s fists stopped, his rough breaths slowing, the fire in his chest easing under her steady hold. Erin’s voice shook, a soft plea full of feeling. "Please, don’t hurt yourself. I can’t bear to watch it."
He doesn’t know why her presence stops his rage, he calms his rage slowly.
Leo stayed quiet, his gaze lifting to the arena’s cracked ceiling, tears shining in his red eyes. "Please, tell me," he rasped, voice raw and broken, barely a whisper, "Chloe is really here. Not just a trick to control me. Because... I can’t live without her."
"She’s real, Reo. My entire life is built on bringing you two back together. If you don’t meet again, everything I’ve done is meaningless." Her words were a vow, filled with a truth that held him steady. They stayed in that hug, her warmth a shield against his pain, his rage softening into a fragile calm.

P.S.
Some of you may have understood his pain.
But you guys believe that a hitman like him should be an emotional fool yearning for Chloe.
