Chapter 119: 119. Playtime over
Sylo’s eyes blazed with furious fury, locked on the Blood Dragger in Leo’s hand, its molten blue light radiating heat that incinerated air even from a distance.
Leo noticed her gaze and grinned, twirling the blade with a flourish, blue fire streaming like a star. "Like my soul weapon?" he teased, voice sharp and mocking.
"The Blood Dragger loves fire mana, but I mixed in shadow magic. Pretty cool, huh?"
Sylo’s face twisted, her snarl full of rage. "Shut up, you jerk! I’m not here for your dumb games!"
Outside the dome, Erin sighed, rubbing her face in embarrassment. "Idiot," she muttered, shaking her head.
Leo’s smirk dropped, his shoulders slumping like a kid caught messing up, eyes falling for a second. Sylo jumped at the chance, her cinquedea flashing as she rushed him with fierce speed, the poisoned blade slashing with deadly aim. Leo snapped back, blocking with the Blood Dragger in a quick flick, the clash sending a shock that cracked the ground. The force threw Sylo back, her blade bouncing like it hit lightning, her boots sliding on the stone.
"Come on, you’re supposed to be tough girl!" Leo taunted, spinning the Blood Dragger.
Her roar shook the deadland, her mana bursting as she called a storm of sharp petals, a swirling mess of violet and green that aimed toward Leo like a living tornado. He didn’t flinch, raising a hand with a lazy grin. A shadow wraith shot from the ground, its claws tearing the petals to dust before sinking back down.
Sylo’s eyes widened, her confidence breaking as the wraith’s speed beat her magic.
She swung her cinquedea, desperation driving her, and a huge thorny vine burst from the ground, its fanged tip snapping at Leo’s legs with poison-dripping jaws. He jumped back, slicing the vine with one swing of the Blood Dragger, blue flames burning it to ash in a flash.
"That’s it?" he asked, circling her like a hunter with hurt prey, his smirk cutting deeper than his blade.
Sylo’s face twisted with fury, her mana glowing brighter. A giant flower bloomed behind her, its glowing center pulsing like a heartbeat, shooting a hot beam of green mana that ripped through the air at Leo.
He Shadowstepped, vanishing in a flicker, reappearing behind her as the beam smashed a pillar into glowing rubble.
"Missed again," he whispered, voice creepy close, right in her ear. Sylo flinched, spinning with her cinquedea slashing up, but the blue flames from his blade’s grazeed on her cheek, burning her cheek with a sharp pain, hotter than anything she’d felt.
She screamed, holding her face, her voice raw with pain and rage.
Leo’s smirk grew, his tone full of mockery. "Ouch, that looks bad."
Sylo’s jaw clenched, blood pouring from her torn side. "I’m not playing woth you!" she hissed. She raised both hands, mana bursting out in a desperate push. A swarm of glowing flower buds appeared around her, floating like deadly lights, each opening to release tiny, shiny orbs that buzzed with explosive mana. The orbs shot at Leo like guided arrows, chasing him with perfect aim.
He raised an eyebrow, a spark of interest in his red eyes, and ran, weaving through the swarm as they exploded behind him, each blast leaving craters of melted stone. One grazed his arm, burning his skin, and he winced, his smirk sharpening. "Okay, that hurts."
Sylo’s desperation hit its peak, her hands pushing forward as she poured her plant magic into a final, giant creation. The ground under Leo broke, and thick, twisted vines shot up, forming a huge plant beast, its thorny mouth snapping with rows of sharp teeth, its tendrils lashing like poisoned whips. A field of bright flowers bloomed around her, their petals glowing as they released a thick, dizzying cloud of pollen, making the air hazy with a sweet, confusing smell.
Leo tilted his head, not fazed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "A garden party? Cute." With a flash of Shadowstep, he vanished, reappearing behind the plant beast as its tendrils swiped at nothing.
The Blood Dragger glowed, its blue light flaring like a star, and with one smooth swing, he cut through the beast’s core, turning it to a pile of burned vines.
The pollen cloud drifted toward him, but he waved a hand, calling shadow wraiths that scattered the mist before it could touch him, their purple eyes shining in the haze.
The Mana Domain’s timer ticked down, seconds left before it vanished, Leo’s smirk faded, his crimson eyes turning cold and sharp, staring into Sylo’s soul, making her heart skip.
He stepped forward, voice was a low, scary growl, each word like a knife. "Playtime’s over sweety."
Sylo’s pulse raced.
"I’ll kill you!" she screamed, voice rough and breaking as she pulled up one last burst of mana. Glowing flowers sprang up around her, their thorny petals spinning toward Leo like a storm of blades, each pulsing with poison light.
He didn’t move, his lips curling into a cold sneer. With one hard swing of the Blood Dragger, blue flames roared out, burning the flowers to black ash that fell like dust.
Sylo’s eyes widened, panic hitting as her magic crumbled against the domain’s strength.
She charged, cinquedea flashing, and she struck for Leo’s heart, poison trailing. He parried it effortlessly and cut through her arm before she had time to move away.
Blood sprayed, her cinquedea slipping out of her grasp as she screamed, clutching the wound, her robe scarlet.
"Too loud," Leo said.
Sylo’s desperation grew, her free hand swinging, but he caught her wrist mid-swing, his grip like steel, snapping her bone with a loud crack that echoed.
Sylo gasped, pain breaking her fight, her knees giving out, but Leo didn’t stop. He kicked her legs, dropping her to the ground with a hard thud, and punched her chest, blue flames burning her skin. The hit broke ribs, her scream ripping through the deadland, a raw cry that bounced off the broken pillars as she fell, blood pooling under her.
She clawed at the dirt, body shaking, her violet eyes fading as she called one last weak vine, its thorns barely moving. Leo crushed it under his boot, blue flames turning it to ash in a flash. He knelt, grabbing her hair, pulling her head back to force her weak eyes to meet his.
"Seems your Goddess is nothing here," he said, voice flat and cruel, cutting deeper than any blade. With one last swing of the Blood Dragger, he slashed her legs, cutting tendons in a burst of blood, leaving her helpless.
Sylo’s scream was a broken howl, her body twitching as she collapsed, unable to move, her mana gone, her fight over.
Leo stood, breathing hard, the Blood Dragger’s blue glow fading back to red, dripping with Sylo’s blood.
"Such a pain," he muttered, turning away, voice full of cold scorn. The Mana Domain broke apart, the purple sky and flaming pillars vanishing as the arena’s scarred stone floor returned. The blue-black dome fell, showing Leo standing over Sylo’s broken, bloody body, barely alive, her cinquedea useless beside her.
