Chapter 583: Chapter 583 I Will Never Betray You Chapter 583: Chapter 583 I Will Never Betray You “Oh?” Lu Yichen raised his eyebrows, his interest piqued as he spoke, “Then what kind of person do you think Yi Huai is, as described by Baili Hengyuan?”
“A hypocritical man who’s adept at scheming,” Zhong Niangyao spoke ruthlessly. “Baili Hengyuan said Yi Huai loved Baili Lele very much, but I feel that it’s all just a facade. Even–”
A trace of confusion flashed in Zhong Niangyao’s eyes, “I think that whether it’s about Baili Lele or Zhong Mingxin’s matter, Yi Huai had a hand in it.”
“How did you figure that out?” Lu Yichen didn’t express any disagreement, only asking with a smile, “I didn’t notice anything from Baili Hengyuan’s words.”
Zhong Niangyao turned her head, looking steadily at Lu Yichen, then blinked and gave a slight smile. “Intuition.”
He had expected to hear something he hadn’t noticed himself, not such an answer. However, Lu Yichen didn’t find it amusing. Instead, he nodded seriously, “If that’s the case, then we really need to investigate Yi Huai properly.”
“Huh?” Zhong Niangyao was somewhat surprised, “Just because I mentioned ‘intuition,’ you believe me without considering other possibilities?”
“No need,” Lu Yichen shook his head. He lifted his hand, gently adjusting the stray hair on Zhong Niangyao’s forehead, and said, “As long as it’s something you said, it makes sense.”
Hearing Lu Yichen’s words, a sweet smile formed on Zhong Niangyao’s lips, “Yichen, you really have a way with words! You’re spoiling me!”
“Better spoiled,” Lu Yichen leaned down and kissed her hair gently, “That way, you will only love me and will want to stay by my side.”
“Only if I’m the best for you will you never look at other men,” Lu Yichen continued.
Zhong Niangyao couldn’t help but laugh, then a strange feeling flickered in her eyes as she suddenly asked, “Then, would you ever betray me?”
“Never, I will never betray you.”
When Lu Yichen looked at Zhong Niangyao, his eyes were bright, as if looking at his faith, “If one day I do betray you, you won’t need to act; I would kill myself.”
“Really?” Zhong Niangyao seemed to be talking to Lu Yichen as well as to herself, “Then why did things end up that way?”
“What?”
Confused by Zhong Niangyao’s words, Lu Yichen couldn’t help but ask, “Yaoyao, what are you talking about?”
“Nothing.” Zhong Niangyao lifted her head, her face alight with a brilliant smile. She tilted her head, smiling as she warned, “Then you should firmly remember what you’ve said. If that day really comes, I won’t show any mercy.”
Lu Yichen gently pulled Zhong Niangyao into his arms, his voice deep as he replied, “Okay.”
Though it was just a simple word, it was full of earnestness.
Zhong Niangyao’s identity hadn’t been widely known within the Baili Family.
Inside the Baili Family, besides Baili Hengyuan, only his three sons knew. He had even instructed his daughters-in-law not to let them know.
Baili Hengyuan’s three sons, who were Zhong Niangyao’s three uncles, upon learning that Zhong Niangyao was Baili Lele’s daughter, all wanted to visit their little niece at the first opportunity. However, afraid to alert the unsuspecting, Baili Hengyuan repeatedly cautioned them absolutely not to visit Zhong Niangyao rashly.
The three sons, unwilling to defy their father, naturally had to agree. Nevertheless, upon returning, they each thought of what kind of present they should prepare for their niece.
Among them, Baili Zhenhua was the happiest. Among the three brothers, he was the only one who had met their little niece.
However, he was silently annoyed. If he had known earlier that Zhong Niangyao was his niece, he would have definitely taken them to the guest room personally. That way, he could have spent more time with his little niece!
Zhong Niangyao was completely unaware of these matters within the Baili Family.
The next morning, Zhong Niangyao got up early.
After breakfast, she didn’t delay and immediately went to Baili Lele’s room. Lu Yichen naturally followed her.
As soon as she opened the door to Baili Lele’s room, she saw Baili Hengyuan already waiting there.
“Nianyao.”
As soon as he saw Zhong Niangyao arrive, Baili Hengyuan’s face couldn’t hide his joy, and he quickly got up to greet her.
He was so happy not only because Zhong Niangyao was going to check on Baili Lele, but most importantly, seeing his granddaughter made him feel joyful.
“Grandpa.”
Compared to Baili Hengyuan’s enthusiasm, Zhong Niangyao appeared calm, even cold.
After greeting, the three of them went to the bedside again.
Originally, Baili Hengyuan had wanted Zhong Niangyao to check on Baili Lele the day before. But at that time, Zhong Niangyao said she was tired and worried the examination might not be accurate. So, they decided to schedule it for the next morning.
Looking at Baili Lele lying motionless on the bed, a strange feeling surged in Zhong Niangyao’s heart–an emotion as if linked by blood.
Previously, she hadn’t felt this way when seeing Baili Lele. But now, seeing her again, she felt an impulse to call her “mother.”
However, reason ultimately overcame emotion, and she withdrew her gaze to look at Baili Hengyuan. She then spoke, “In a moment, I will use a secret method to clarify Baili Lele’s issue. As for what comes after, let’s first address the underlying issues in Baili Lele’s body!”
Baili Hengyuan nodded, then turned his head, his gaze falling on the still unconscious Baili Lele, “Yaoyao, just do your best.”
“Your mother once said, you are her child. Her greatest wish was for you to grow up happy and joyful. The last thing she wanted was for you to be involved in these troubles. If she wakes up and sees your current state, I wonder what she would feel.”
“Everyone has their own choices,” Zhong Niangyao spoke calmly.
