Chapter 552 - Chapter 552 Chapter 552 Critically Injured

Chapter 552: Chapter 552: Critically Injured Chapter 552: Chapter 552: Critically Injured Without any fear or hesitation, Lu Yichen approached Zhong Niangyao to check on her condition.

At that moment, Zhong Niangyao had fallen into a state almost akin to madness, with images incessantly flashing through her mind, giving her the sensation of being in the midst of it all.

Watching the love and hate, the friendship and feuds unfold, she felt as though she was living through these experiences personally. Suddenly, fury and hatred filled her chest. All she harbored were feelings of indignation and loathing, and she wanted to kill everyone who had wronged her.

Seeing Lu Yichen approaching, Zhong Niangyao could no longer distinguish between reality and illusion. Her eyes blazed with hatred, and without hesitation, she concentrated all of her strength into her right hand and struck at Lu Yichen.

Caught off guard by Zhong Niangyao’s sudden attack, Lu Yichen was momentarily stunned but did not dodge. He let her attack land on him.

Zhong Niangyao had unleashed her strike with all her might, apparently seeing Lu Yichen as her enemy, intent on ending his life.

The forceful blow landed on Lu Yichen. He felt a pang of pain in his chest followed by a sweet, metallic taste in his throat. Unable to control himself, he spat out a mouthful of blood, which sprayed onto Zhong Niangyao’s body.

The warm blood on her face brought Zhong Niangyao back to her senses. She saw Lu Yichen before her, with blood at the corner of his mouth, yet he looked at her with concern.

Even though he was gravely injured, he paid no attention to his own wounds, instead worrying about her current state.

As she looked at Lu Yichen’s still gentle demeanor, Zhong Niangyao’s nose twitched, and tears began to fall uncontrollably.

“Yaoyao, don’t cry.”

Seeing the tears on Zhong Niangyao’s face, Lu Yichen was somewhat flustered. Extending his hand, he wiped the bloodstains from her cheeks, apologizing incessantly like a child who had done something wrong, “I’m sorry, Yaoyao. I didn’t mean to dirty you. Don’t cry. I’ll clean you up right now!”

Hearing Lu Yichen’s words, Zhong Niangyao’s tears fell even harder, “You fool, you’re injured. Do you even realize that?”

Although she had lost her reason just moments ago, she was acutely aware of what she had done. That was why she knew very well how heavy her blow had been.

Yet, even when faced with her full-force attack, not only did Lu Yichen fail to evade, but he was now apologizing for getting blood on her face.

For a moment, she didn’t know whether to be angry at herself for injuring Lu Yichen or frustrated that Lu Yichen didn’t know how to take care of himself.

“I’m fine.” Despite the severity of his wounds, Lu Yichen still wore a consoling smile, “It’s just a minor injury. A few days of rest and I’ll be as good as new. Don’t worry about me; just stop crying, and that would be enough.”

Listening to Lu Yichen’s words, Zhong Niangyao didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

As if struck by a sudden thought, Zhong Niangyao quickly looked around the rest area. Then, as if she had discovered something, she rose from the couch and walked a short distance, picking up something from the floor.

Lu Yichen had initially intended to rise and follow her, but the pain from his injuries was too much. Just getting up caused a sharp pain in his chest, followed by weakness, and ultimately, he collapsed back onto the couch.

Due to his injuries, the balance between the Purple Energy and the Evil Qi inside him became somewhat precarious. If that balance were to break, his body would suffer an even more powerful impact.

Yet, at this moment, he had no concern for his own body; all his thoughts were on Zhong Niangyao.

Before he could figure out what was happening, he saw Zhong Niangyao walking towards him, holding a dagger that sparkled with a chilling cold light.

His face showed no change of expression, perfectly calm. At this moment, even if Zhong Niangyao were to plunge the dagger into his chest, he wouldn’t have dodged.

However, what he could never have imagined was that Zhong Niangyao sat down beside him and, with the swiftness of lightning, slashed her own wrist.

Bright red blood flowed incessantly from the wound.

The sight of the red blood stimulated Lu Yichen’s nerves, “Yaoyao, what are you doing?”

Zhong Niangyao extended her wrist towards Lu Yichen’s mouth and commanded, “Open your mouth, drink it.”

Lu Yichen frowned, unwilling to drink the blood, and reached out to grasp Zhong Niangyao’s wrist in order to bandage the wound.

“If you don’t drink it, then I will cut another wound later,” Zhong Niangyao spoke calmly yet firmly, “You know my personality; you should understand that I’m not just talking for the sake of it.”

Seeing Zhong Niangyao’s determined look, a trace of helplessness flashed in Lu Yichen’s eyes, and in the end, he could only sip a little of her blood from her wrist.

The blood that entered his mouth had no taste of blood; instead, it was sweet, turning into a warm flow that made everywhere it touched feel a sense of warmth.

After swallowing the blood, he felt the pain in his chest noticeably lessen, and his breathing became much steadier. The balance that had been precarious due to his injuries was now restored.

He lowered his head and saw that the wound on Zhong Niangyao’s wrist had somehow returned to its original state; there was no evidence that she had been hurt at all except for a few traces of dried blood.

His heart tightened, and Lu Yichen reached out and firmly grasped Zhong Niangyao’s wrist, his low voice sounding, “Yaoyao, never use your blood again, no matter the circumstances, understand?”

If others were to know that Zhong Niangyao’s blood had such miraculous effects, it would surely draw attention from all directions.

Although he was confident he could protect Zhong Niangyao, he still didn’t want to see her put herself in dangerous situations.

“I’m not some Holy Mother Heart,” Zhong Niangyao rolled her eyes and spoke with a hint of helplessness, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t even consider using my blood.”

As she spoke, she glanced at her wrist. There was no wound, just a few spots of blood that had already dried, her gaze becoming complex.

Before today, she never knew her blood had such miraculous effects.

She couldn’t help but recall the images that had just flashed through her mind, then lifted her head to look at Lu Yichen with a complicated expression, “Lu Yichen, why didn’t you dodge just now? Aren’t you afraid I might really kill you?”
