The driver whispered to himself, “It’s all my fault, I’ve harmed the child. It’s all me, I deserve to die. If only I could do something that wouldn’t implicate the child, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate.”

His eyes were murmuring to himself, but from the corner of his eye, he kept stealthily glancing at Zhong Nianyao, as if trying to gauge something from her expression.

Zhong Nianyao sat as if she hadn’t heard a thing, her demeanor completely calm, and she didn’t even seem to be intending to speak.

Watching Zhong Nianyao, the driver grew anxious. Everything he had done was for his family, yet he had never intended to harm his child.

Finally, unable to contain himself, the driver looked at Zhong Nianyao and spoke up, “Miss, if you don’t pursue this, am I off the hook?”

If it were really so, then he might consider coming clean about what really happened. Just as the lady before him had said, there was no way he could receive the final payment now.
