The Useless Heiress Is Actually A Bigshot -
Chapter 438 - Chapter 438 Chapter 468 Unappreciative
Chapter 438: Chapter 468: Unappreciative Chapter 438: Chapter 468: Unappreciative Before realizing it, Lu Yichen’s hands were already laden with numerous bags. However, Zhong Niangyao’s enthusiasm seemed still very high, so he said nothing, merely following her silently, his face adorned with a doting smile, the picture of contentment.
The pair of a handsome man and a beautiful woman naturally attracted attention. Even more so for such a sweet-looking couple, they became the focus of all eyes.
Many onlookers were focused on these two, especially some of the girls who were out shopping with their boyfriends. After seeing the interaction between Lu Yichen and Zhong Niangyao, they became increasingly critical of their own boyfriends.
Their boyfriends weren’t as tall as hers, not as handsome, and lacking his air of sophistication was one thing, but they didn’t even treat their girlfriends with the same care and attention.
They began to doubt whether their own boyfriends were, in fact, rather inadequate.
Some girls with more resolve, despite feeling a bit down, recalled how their boyfriends usually weren’t that bad to them and let the matter slide. However, some were so overcome with jealousy that they started arguing with their boyfriends on the spot, which ended with a breakup right there.
Zhong Niangyao was unaware of all this. Even if she did know, she wouldn’t care.
Marriage is fated by destiny; if a relationship could be so easily broken just by comparison with others, it showed that neither person valued the bond highly. In that case, it was better to part ways, to prevent further harm to each other.
As for those relationships which were truly fated, they would never end over such trifles. Otherwise, how could they be considered predestined by fate!
Soon the two of them entered a jewelry store.
Although Zhong Group also dealt in jewelry, this did not deter her from being interested in browsing other jewelry stores.
Once inside the jewelry store, Zhong Niangyao casually glanced at the exquisite pieces of jewelry behind the counters, with little more than a passing interest. Clearly, none of these gems had caught her attention.
The counter staff eagerly introduced various kinds of jewelry to Zhong Niangyao, hoping she would purchase one or two pieces, which would mean a significant commission for the month.
These jewelry store employees had nearly developed the ability to discern with a glance which customers truly had the means to buy and which were merely looking, not intending–or more precisely, unable–to purchase.
From the moment Zhong Niangyao entered, all the staff on duty had sensed that she was a customer with formidable buying power.
So, the sales associate serving them was persistently coaxing Zhong Niangyao. Watching Niangyao’s unmoved demeanor, the sales associate was truly getting anxious.
“Miss, why don’t you take a look at this piece!” the sales associate suggested as she brought over a brooch from another counter. It was shaped like a swan, composed of white and black diamonds. Under the gleaming lights, the brooch exuded a fascinating charm that made it irresistible.
Even Zhong Niangyao, who hadn’t been interested up until then, couldn’t help but take a closer look upon seeing the brooch.
Sensing Niangyao’s intrigue, the sales associate put more effort into promoting the brooch in her hand.
Zhong Niangyao, watching the sales associate’s eloquent presentation, couldn’t help feeling that not buying it would almost be an insult to such earnest efforts.
Before she could speak, however, a familiar voice came from behind her.
“I’ll take this brooch, wrap it up for me now.”
Hearing that familiar voice, Zhong Niangyao turned around and saw Chu Yixue walking in leisurely, hand in hand with Li Jingming.
The person who had just spoken and claimed the brooch was none other than Chu Yixue.
“Oh, if it isn’t Nianyao! I didn’t recognize you from behind just now!” Chu Yixue spoke with a smile, “But I didn’t expect to run into you here! Have you decided on this brooch? If not, I’m going to have the sales associate wrap it up for me!”
Without even waiting for Zhong Niangyao to reply, she turned to the sales associate, “What are you waiting for? Wrap up this brooch for me quickly!”
Zhong Niangyao watched with interest as the scene unfolded before her, finding it somewhat amusing.
However, she also noticed a faint shadow of dark aura enveloping Chu Yixue. From Chu Yixue’s countenance, it seemed her recent days hadn’t been very good.
It appeared that the Chu Family had probably already clarified the situation with the true and false heiresses. Nevertheless, since it hadn’t been publicly revealed yet, the real heiress’s circumstances must not be very promising.
Unlike Zhong Niangyao’s detached amusement, Lu Yichen frowned slightly at Chu Yixue’s presumptive manner.
Perhaps the most unfortunate person there was the sales associate, clutching the brooch spoken for by Chu Yixue, but unable to make any decision.
In the end, the sales associate gritted her teeth and apologized to Chu Yixue, “I’m truly sorry, miss. It’s first come, first served, and this lady hasn’t decided whether or not to purchase it yet, so I can’t wrap it up for you.”
She did want to earn a commission, but she also had her professional ethics. She was currently attending to Zhong Niangyao and had introduced her to this brooch first. Therefore, unless Zhong Niangyao explicitly declined, she could not pass the brooch to Chu Yixue.
“You–” Chu Yixue gritted her teeth, “are ungrateful.”
Then, she summoned the store manager and stated emphatically that she wanted the brooch.
The store manager was caught in a dilemma. Both Zhong Niangyao and Chu Yixue seemed not to be trifled with.
One declared intent to purchase the brooch immediately, while the other was still considering. No matter whom the manager chose to help, it wouldn’t be appropriate.
Chu Yixue scoffed at the manager, “Manager, whether she will buy it, I’m not sure. But if you refuse to sell it to me now, then I don’t want it anymore. And this commission, none of you will earn it. Furthermore–”
Chu Yixue surveyed the room and continued, “I will also tell my classmates and friends about this. They are all daughters and sons of the wealthy families in the Imperial Capital. What your store’s reputation will become after that is anybody’s guess.”
