The Useless Heiress Is Actually A Bigshot
Chapter 380 - Chapter 380 Chapter 380 Fear

Chapter 380: Chapter 380 Fear Chapter 380: Chapter 380 Fear Yu Xiaoman had not expected to see Zhong Niangyao again, and especially not in a police station.

After the previous incident, when she returned home, she was furious and immediately complained to her family, hoping they would help her get even.

However, after she had explained the situation, her family berated her heavily instead. They said she had offended someone she shouldn’t have. Although they didn’t know who Zhong Niangyao really was, the mysterious and unpredictable methods she used made them suspect she might be a Heavenly Master.

Such a person, if they really held a grudge against you, wouldn’t need to do much–just altering your family’s Feng Shui would be enough to bring about your family’s ruin.

Her family gave Xiao Man a harsh lesson, letting her understand that there are always people out there stronger than oneself, and even forces beyond our understanding.

Because of her family’s admonition and the lingering effects of the lesson Zhong Niangyao had taught her, Xiaoman’s behavior had changed significantly.

Now, seeing Zhong Niangyao again and remembering what her family had said, as well as the lessons Zhong Niangyao had given her before, she couldn’t suppress the deep-seated fear within her.

As a result, she didn’t dare to look at Zhong Niangyao for more than a moment and just wanted to leave as quickly as possible.

Zhong Niangyao, on the other hand, was unaware of Yu Xiaoman’s turmoil and was currently following Han Xin to the detention area with Lu Yichen.

Although all the facts of the case had been clarified and Zhou Kui’s beastly behavior was fully exposed, the legal procedures still had to be followed. The court had not yet held a trial, so Zhou Kui was still detained at the police station.

Soon, they saw a disheveled Zhou Kui.

Not knowing what Zhou Kui had been like before, he now looked unkempt, with deep dark circles under his eyes and a sallow complexion, utterly spiritless.

When he saw Zhong Niangyao and Lu Yichen, confusion crossed his face, but he did not speak.

He could be sure that he had never met these strange men and women before. If he had ever encountered such a striking pair, he surely wouldn’t have forgotten them.

These two before him were so perfect they almost didn’t seem real, their aura not of this world–clearly, they were not ordinary people. If he had known such individuals, he wouldn’t be trapped in his current predicament.

“Captain Han, we’d like a quiet place to talk to him alone,” Zhong Niangyao suddenly said, looking towards Han Xin. “Would that be possible?”

If it was convenient, that would be great. If not, she could leave and return later with some tricks up her sleeve.

Before Han Xin could respond, the cold gaze of Lu Yichen had already fallen on him.

He shivered involuntarily and then straightened up, quickly replying, “Of course, it’s just a minor thing. I’ll arrange it right away.”

Soon, Zhong Niangyao and Lu Yichen were led into an interrogation room.

Later, Han Xin brought Zhou Kui in. After handcuffing him to a chair, he turned to leave the interrogation room.

However, before he could push the door open to exit, Han Xin couldn’t resist turning back to look at Zhong Niangyao, speaking somewhat indirectly, “Lady Zhong, Zhou Kui will soon be tried in court. I hope you will show some leniency, allowing him the chance to expose his crimes to all in court.”

He felt no sympathy for Zhou Kui–nor did anyone else at the police station. To be precise, after learning of Zhou Kui’s deeds, everyone on the police force was utterly repulsed by this cruel murderer of his own daughter.

Still, despite their disgust, as a law enforcer, he hoped the law would judge Zhou Kui and let everyone learn of his cruel, beastly acts.

“Don’t worry, I am a civilized person,” Zhong Niangyao replied, unable to help rolling her eyes before turning to Zhou Kui with a sweet smile on her face. “I assure you, he will be alive to face his trial.”

At that moment, Zhou Kui, handcuffed to his chair, felt no warmth from Zhong Niangyao’s smile but rather a chilling cold that rose from the soles of his feet.

He had a very ominous feeling which, seeing Han Xin about to leave the room, spurred a sudden impulse in him, and he cried out, “Officer, don’t go! I don’t know these two people at all, please make them leave!”

Just moments ago, he had thought this man and woman were very attractive. But now, with the police officer leaving him alone in the room with them, he felt afraid.

Zhou Kui now also wanted to leave the room as quickly as possible. Even though he was a murder suspect and had confessed, as long as the court had not yet rendered a verdict, he was legally not yet guilty and had the right to ask to leave.

What he hadn’t expected was that the officer seemed not to hear him at all, simply opening the door and leaving the room, leaving him alone to face this unknown man and woman.

“Afraid, are you?”

Zhong Niangyao still wore a smile on her face as she sat down in a chair not far from Zhou Kui, with a table in between. She rested her chin on her hands, propped on the table, and looked at Zhou Kui, “Why would you feel afraid? I don’t think I look that scary. Besides, you even killed your own daughter; you shouldn’t be such a coward.”

As Zhou Kui looked at Zhong Niangyao’s smiling face, he felt even more frightened, trembling slightly. Maybe it was an illusion, but he felt as if the temperature in the room had suddenly dropped several degrees, giving off a wintry chill.

And, for a fleeting moment, he even thought Zhong Niangyao’s smile looked a bit sinister.

“You–” Zhou Kui struggled to control his inner terror, but his voice still trembled, “Who exactly are you? I don’t know you at all. Why are you looking for me? What do you want to do?”

“I don’t know you either!” Zhong Niangyao blinked innocently, though her smile grew more malevolent, her tone tinged with eeriness as she spoke, “I came to see you today on someone else’s behalf. She wanted to meet you but couldn’t come in herself or find the way; so I had to personally escort her here. I think you’ll be quite pleased to see her.”
