Chapter 331: Charity event
"Mr. and Mrs. Yang! This way, this way!"
Various reporters immediately started shouting the moment the couple got out of their car as they were cladded in a maroon matching couple pair as they had planned to attend this charity event for the night.
Coupled with the fact that this same couple had just released a very shocking, tantalizing and luxurious wedding announcement just a month ago, the reporters have been really lurking out looking for them, waiting to interview them, but unfortunately both parties have been turning down any invitation for an interview that came their way, and therefore seeing that they chose to attend this charity event for the night, they were not going to let the couple go without asking them a few questions.
Jane and Liam politely stood as they posed for the cameras, and the amount of flashes that were immediately directed towards them was just so, so, so insane that all the other people had to step aside because they knew they couldn’t compete with the influence of these two.
Looking at how fast and how much the flashes were, it suddenly hits Liam that he was having a pregnant wife and he therefore turned to look at her with worry as he pulled her close to him, ending up asking a question.
"Are you okay baby? Is it hurting you? Is it hurting your eyes? Do I need to tell them to stop it?"
His eyes darted all over her face, trying to look for any slight reason as to why he should stop the reporters, but when he found none, he immediately relaxed. But what he didn’t realize is that his voice was not that soft or that quiet as he thought it would be. Instead, even with the flushes, the people got to hear him, and they couldn’t help but hold their hearts in bitterness.
"This couple is busy torturing me everywhere I go. First of all, I see their digital wedding invitation/ announcement. Second, I see a very huge billboard that I get asked by my kids what it really is and now feeding us dog food before the whole media? come on!!"
"Wait, why was he silently concerned about her? Could it be that she is..."
The mothers in the room immediately looked at each other as if they could predict the reason as to why Liam became all careful all of a sudden. And because they did not want to expose anything or they did not want to be sued for slander, they immediately stopped there and just communicated with their eyes, which was something funny to watch because anyone who is not a woman wouldn’t be able to understand what the women were all about.
"I think you’re right. Look at how the dress is all fitting in all areas of her body, but a little bit loose on her stomach."
One mother whispered to the others and immediately the group of women ended up observing Jane’s stomach and the more they saw how the dress was purposefully loose around her stomach, they couldn’t have but high five each other because they had just figured out a secret before anyone else. This was more than enough to make their nights.
"No, baby, I am okay. Let us go ahead."
Jane immediately dismissed Liam’s awareness, but she felt sweet inside that he immediately thought about her and the baby, and the more she thought about it, the more she felt like she was going to reward her husband later.
"President Yang! President Yang!"
"Is the wedding invitation exclusive for only the upper class society or can anyone attend?"
A reporter asked a question, but to everyone else it was a silly question because they already had the answer, who just invites a bunch of nobodies to their wedding?
Surprisingly, Liam faced the cameras as he had his arms wrapped around Jane’s waist, clearly indicating his place as her man and of course indicating to anyone else that that this is his woman and that he is protecting her from any harm.
"Well. The wedding invitations have been sent by now, but of course under my wife’s request, there will be another batch or a specific...eeem... Let me just put it like a surprise. Where are people, anyone who’s willing to participate, will have to pick a number, and of course, there are specific numbers that will be equally invited and therefore those who will be able to successfully pick the right numbers, doesn’t matter your social class will be able to attend the wedding too."
On hearing this, the whole place buzzed in excitement and shock because first of all, not all members of the upper class society were are invited to the wedding and second, these people were geniuses!! But here was their chance! They didn’t care if they would be told they got into a wedding via lottery, as long as they got in!
"Ah, the benefits of having a bright woman! President Yang has it all!"
"President Yang. Just because your wife suggested it, are you going to let her have a say?"
The reporter who asked about it is someone who is a full of patriarchy and in his head, he believes that women shouldn’t even have a say in anything, like absolutely anything. And therefore seeing how Liam bowed his head before his woman, he became so angry, but tried to control his anger as he spoke up, intending to wake up this hen pecked husband.
"Whatever my woman says is whatever goes. So if treating a woman right hurts you so much, kindly guards, just take him out. I feel like you’re about to ruin the mood for everyone else."
The reporters immediately shook his head in fear and regret because his company had spend so much to actually send him to represent them and he had just ruined his opportunity like that, but he couldn’t say a thing as he was being dragged away and the moment he was kicked out of the banquet, the place immediately became quiet as all other reporters let the couple pass as they headed into the banquet hall.
The esteemed members of upper-class society buzzed with anticipation as they watched Liam and Jane finally come in as they gathered in the elegant ballroom of an opulent mansion. Clad in their finest attire, these regal figures carried themselves with an air of sophistication and refinement. The atmosphere crackled with excitement, for tonight they were to engage in a lively conversation with the soon-to-be-married couple, Jane and Liam.
The head of the charity banquet immediately rushed forward sweating as he welcomed them in and after exchanging a few words, he let them mingle as they prepared to start in a few minutes.
Inside the lavishly decorated room, adorned with crystal chandeliers and gilded mirrors, the guests mingled, their conversations an intriguing blend of manners and intrigue. The sparkling champagne flutes danced from hand to hand, accompanied by the soft clinking of the glasses, as laughter could be heard from time to time. These refined individuals exuded warmth and kindness as they exchanged graceful pleasantries.
The grand entrance of Jane and Liam commanded attention as they stepped into the room, a captivating vision of elegance and love. Jane, resplendent in her enchanting maroon gown, radiated joy with every step, while Liam, debonair in his couple tailored tuxedo, exuded an air of quiet confidence. As the host finished having a word with the couple, most of the people immediately started approaching them, intending to congratulate them.
They all wore glowing smiles, their eyes reflecting genuine excitement for the couple’s upcoming wedding. A symphony of laughter, compliments, and well-wishes filled the air. Each word uttered carried the weight of respect and admiration, establishing an atmosphere of warmth and of course wanting to curry favor.
"Jane, my girl, you are positively glowing tonight," remarked a lady who was known to be a pillar of high society, and on good terms with the couple, hence the lack of titles.
"Look at you my girl! Your beauty rivals that of the most exquisite roses in the royal gardens! Ah! What to do to become this young again!"
Jane blushed, her eyes sparkling with gratitude and obvious happiness due to the compliment.
"Come on Mrs Long, your own beauty knows no bounds. Your peers could never catch up! You honor us with your presence."
Liam, charming and charismatic, engaged in conversation with Mr Long, Mrs Long’s husband, as they discussed more before many other members came to congratulate them further, flustering the couple because they did not fail to shower them with high class compliments.
As the evening unfolded, the conversation grew livelier, laughter reverberating through the grand hall. It was a celebration of union where diversity and respect thrived. For a moment, they all put aside the wickedness that came with the upper class society as they embraced the moment.
Hours passed, and the air hummed with enchantment. The upper-class society members bid farewell to Jane and Liam the moment she stated she was tired and each of the upper class members, especially the genuine mothers and fathers started sending them off with warm hugs, congratulatory embraces, and heartfelt well-wishes.
