Chapter 203: Not soon enough
As far as she knew, she was raised in an orphanage. Mary was certain that to date, she didn’t know how she ended up in an orphanage but she remembers clearly being abducted at the age of 12.
The girl sighed before she left her chair and went to her balcony where she had some view of the city. Her mind raced back to the kidnapping incident.
She ended up being kidnapped because she seemed to be more mature than the rest of her friends at such a young age, prompting the kidnappers to pick her instead.
After the incident, the girl remembers being taken to a building, which had different labs and from her conclusion, they didn’t plan anything good for her and she realized sooner that indeed, they were up to no good.
Mary was meant to be transformed into a deadly killer machine after which she would be sold to people in the underworld for her to work for them.
She was tortured and taken through alot of testing and of course in just a single day, hundreds of injections could be given to her which ended up tampering with her normal body functioning.
At some point, these tests made her so weak that she preferred taking her life than undergoing such torture, sometimes she hoped someone could rescue her but she knew she was stupid to think that since she didn’t even have a family and these people were dangerous so ofcourse there was no way one would risk their lives for an orphan.
Within a period of a couple months, under harsh tests every single day, she completely turned into a beast, her eye colour also started changing and at the beginning, she could cry blood whenever they changed and this really hurt her alot.
Before things could get out of hand or before she could be made worse, she was once again kidnapped or rather this time, she was rescued. Due to her experience, the girl couldn’t trust anyone even in the slightest way possible and it was therefore hard for her to open up to her rescuer.
After she learnt the guy was harmless even if he had a reason to kidnap her, she started warming up to him, slowly but steady and this same man helped her learn how to control her emotions and also how to prevent her eyes from bleeding blood whenever her eye colour changed.
Although upto date she can still bleed blood from her eyes whenever she gets out of control, it rarely happens and as far as she knows, it hasn’t happened for a long time now although the possibility is still there.
It didn’t take long for her to warm up to the man and after learning he was the right hand man of the king of the underworld, she seized this opportunity to join that kind of world because according to her, it was a waste not to utilize her skills now that she was not a normal person or to be exact, a normal girl.
A single tear left her eye when she remembered the first people she dealt with after joining the underworld. Yes, that’s right, she didn’t hesitate to kill all those people who made her the way she became, an emotionless beast and a killing machine. She didn’t regret her actions but that is how she became famous in the underworld.
Under the care of her rescuer or now as she calls him, her master, she became more cunning and sharp, became the third most feared person in the underworld, after the king himself and his assistant.
As Mary was busy remembering about her past, her eyebrows furrowed as she thought of the fact that she has never met the king of the underworld and that her master always prevented any coincidences of them meeting from happening.
She knew her master had a lot of secrets hidden from her, including the fact that he had rescued her years back without telling her the reason why. Now that she thought about it, this man knew alot about her mother and to her, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was the one who dropped her at the orphanage back then.
She left the balcony and came back to her seat due to the cold but her mind once again drifted back to her master. If he knew her mother then there was a chance he knew her father too unless he was her father... ’Don’t be stupid Mary, you have stayed with him all these years but haven’t felt any bond towards him.’ Her inner self told her making the girl mock herself as she chuckled lightly.
Of course he wasn’t her father but one thing Mary forgot is how she was once compared to a certain man back in the hospital by her grandparents. If only this one detail wouldn’t slip her mind then she would have discovered her biological father by now.
But what will happen when Mary will accidentally stumble upon important information and even encounter her biological father without her knowledge or rather, without both of their knowledge?
She didn’t know it but she was bound to meet her biological father soon..or maybe not soon enough...
