Chapter 53: Lots of Problems 1
(Orlax’s POV)
"Ugh..."
I heard Elena’s voice—it sounded like she was in pain—so I rushed toward the bed.
There, I found her curled up in her blanket, clutching it tightly.
Her breathing was heavy, and she seemed to be suffering in her sleep.
’What’s going on? She was fine yesterday, why has she suddenly become like this?’
I removed the mask that was on her face and wanted to check her temperature, but I was shocked by the sight before me.
Elena’s face looked completely different from the one I had seen the night before.
Her long, delicate eyebrows looked stunning on a face that seemed like it had come out of a fairy tale.
Her lips were red like cherries—utterly tempting.
Her face was frowning and dripping with sweat, but that only added to the beauty of the scene and left me a bit stunned.
’How can someone be this beautiful?’
That was the only thought running through my mind as I looked at her.
Her eyelids slowly opened, revealing red eyes that looked like they were made of blood.
She seemed a little dazed, having just woken up and finding me sitting beside her.
"Hmm, what’s happening? Huh, what’s wrong with my voice?"
The voice that came out of her was soft and beautiful, unlike the harsh and annoying tone she had before.
"Sigh... It’s better if you see for yourself."
I took out my phone, turned on the camera, and handed it to Elena so she could look at herself.
She stared at the face on the screen and seemed slightly stunned.
"Who’s this? She looks really beautiful..."
Elena spoke in confusion, but then noticed that the woman on the screen was moving exactly as she did.
"This... Is this me?"
She began touching her face, which was now smooth and flawless.
"What’s going on? How did I suddenly become like this?!"
Elena seemed panicked as she stared at the face that was completely different from the one she remembered.
I observed all of this with a bit of awe as I watched her.
’Damn! Her beauty is absolutely captivating.’
"Ahem, I think I might know something about this."
As soon as Elena heard those words, she turned to me, waiting for me to continue.
"I might have done something to improve your face, but... the result turned out very different from what I expected."
Elena grew more confused by my words, looking at me with those mesmerizing eyes.
"Improve my face? How could you do something like that? And why would you do it without my permission?"
There was a frown on her face out of anger, but to me, it just looked cute—not scary at all.
"As I said, I didn’t expect it to turn out this way. Are you upset about it?"
Elena didn’t answer. She just kept looking at the phone, watching her new face in disbelief.
"Honestly, no. But it just feels weird... Like I’ve become a completely different person."
"Alright then, I’ll wait for you outside. Get ready so we can leave."
After taking my phone, I left the room quietly and waited by the door.
’Well, I guess it’s not so bad to see that beautiful face every day. Seems like I actually did something good for once.’
I felt proud of myself for this "service to the world"—ignoring the fact that I did it for my own benefit.
A few minutes later, Elena came out of the room wearing a black cloak that covered her entire body, and a white mask that hid her face.
"Why are you still wearing that mask?"
I felt a bit puzzled seeing her like that.
Since she used to hide her face due to how it looked before, things were different now.
"Well, I’m not used to showing my face. I just feel more comfortable this way."
"As you wish."
I didn’t care much and started heading toward the palace exit.
There, I found many people gathered—among them was Zelfan.
"Hmm, what’s going on here?"
I asked Zelfan, who was currently blocking my way out, frowning a bit.
"Well, I’m here to say goodbye. Also..."
Zelfan held his head in pain and sighed before continuing.
"If you ever come here again, let me know first. I don’t want to have a heart attack like last time when I suddenly heard you were waiting somewhere."
A faint smile appeared on my face when I heard his words, and I replied with a slightly sarcastic tone.
"Who knows? Let’s see how I decide to show up next time."
"Sigh... I expected as much."
Zelfan sighed with a headache just thinking about the future.
"Alright, alright. I have a lot of work to do. Goodbye."
Zelfan waved and returned to the palace, prompting me to move forward and leave.
After that, I headed to the airport with Elena.
There, a private jet—one I had requested earlier from Alex—was already waiting.
We sat in the comfortable seats while the plane took off.
The flight was long but relaxing thanks to all the luxurious amenities on board.
After about ten hours, the plane landed in the imperial capital of the Tirshtain Empire.
As soon as we got off the plane, I saw Lyra waiting for my arrival at the airport.
I approached her as soon as I saw her, with Elena following me silently.
"Lira."
"Your Majesty, welcome back."
Lira gave a light, elegant bow to greet me.
"Thank you, Lira. How are things in the capital?"
"Honestly, the situation is a little tense... especially in the palace."
I noticed that Lira looked a bit uneasy remembering what was happening, which made me frown.
"What happened?"
"You’ll see when we get there, Your Majesty."
I nodded and we headed to a car waiting by the airport entrance.
The car drove through the capital while I watched people walking the streets through the window.
Soon, we arrived at the palace gates and got out of the car.
Elena followed me, carrying her bag, along with Lira.
As soon as I opened the door, I felt something hit my chest and looked down.
"Alice? What’s wrong? Why are you like this?"
I felt a bit tense when I saw Alice hugging me tightly, tears flowing from her eyes.
"Mother refuses to leave her room and hasn’t eaten anything. Also, Riana left the house yesterday and hasn’t come back."
I felt a headache coming on from those words and began calming Alice down.
"Okay, okay, calm down. I’ll handle everything."
After patting her back a bit, Alice seemed to relax and let go of me.
She wiped the tears from her eyes and looked up at me.
"I’m sorry... I know you just got back and must be tired, but... I just don’t know what to do."
I sighed at her state and gently patted her head.
"It’s okay. I’ll take care of everything. Go get some rest now."
"Alright..."
After hearing my reassuring words, Alice finally relaxed and went to her room to rest.
’This is really annoying. I already have so many problems to deal with.’
Once I gathered my thoughts, I turned to Lira, who was standing behind me.
"Lira, where’s Alex?"
"Your Majesty, he left to protect the Empress while she’s out."
"Good. Show Elena to an empty room and get her settled in. Also, give her a tour of the palace. I’m heading out."
After giving Lira the instructions, I quickly left the palace and flew to the highest tower in the capital.
I took out my phone and called Alex.
"Your Majesty."
"Alex, where are you now?"
"I’ll send you my location now, Your Majesty."
A few moments later, I received a message with Alex’s current location—and it shocked me.
’The Atremos Forest? What the hell is Riana doing there?!’
I remembered that forest—I’d gone there over a month ago when I wanted to level up. That’s where I got my sword and met Sera.
I put my phone in my pocket and activated flame and control magic.
FWOOSH!
I soared high into the sky, fiery wings sprouting behind me, and shot off at incredible speed toward the forest.
BOOOOM!
A shockwave erupted behind me from the speed—twice the speed of sound.
After a few minutes, I finally reached the location Alex had sent me—and saw Riana.
"Oh my god! What madness are you doing now, Riana?!"
