Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Li Shao Won’t Let Anyone In

Bessie saw Ignatius enter holding Delphine in his arms, his entire being radiating a cold, sinister rage. Remembering the dull, tasteless two years she had been left in Switzerland, her face instantly turned pale, and she called out weakly, "Brother, she’s just a burden."

What could possibly be so important? She was his sister after all. Bessie muttered softly to herself.

Ignatius furrowed his brows, his expression growing darker. Holding Delphine, he climbed the stairs, barking orders to Maximilian as he walked, "Check why Dr. Zheng hasn’t arrived yet."

His voice was urgent yet calm, but his steps on the stairs were chaotic, far faster than usual.

Maximilian raised his eyes and saw Ignatius carrying the unconscious Miss Delphine upstairs in haste. Miss Delphine’s body was covered in bloody wounds, and his expression immediately darkened. Seeing Bessie still whispering to herself, oblivious to the gravity of the situation, he couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

Ignatius was the kind of man whose fury grew quieter on the surface as it intensified inside. He might say nothing now, but when it was time to seek retribution, his methods would only be more ruthless.

Delphine’s body was covered in injuries, and Ignatius was at a loss. He could only help her remove her clothes, cover her with a blanket, and adjust the room’s temperature. His large hand brushed her delicate face, feeling the heat of her forehead, and his expression grew increasingly grim.

When he undressed her despite her unconscious state, she trembled in pain, her body quaking uncontrollably. Her once snow-white skin was now riddled with whip marks, each one shocking and horrific. Ignatius closed his eyes and pressed a hand to his brow, exhaling the fury he’d been suppressing slowly.

By the time Dr. Zheng arrived, he found a crowd gathered outside the bedroom: Maxmilian, the old butler, and staff waiting for orders at a moment’s notice.

During this time, hot water, medical kits, ointments, anti-inflammatory drugs, and fever reducers were all brought into the room. Each passing minute weighed heavier on their hearts, yet Ignatius prohibited anyone from entering.

Even Bessie, sensing that something was off, became increasingly uneasy and restless.

"What are you all standing here for?" Dr. Zheng, the family physician of the Leclair estate and a renowned senior doctor, demanded.

By the time Dr. Zheng arrived hurriedly, half an hour had already passed. The Leclair estate—how could it encounter trouble so frequently? The old doctor had assumed something had happened to the Leclair family’s eldest son and wasted no time rushing over.

"Dr. Zheng, hurry and go inside!" Maximilian urged softly as he approached the door and knocked.

"Come in." Ignatius’s voice was even lower and colder than usual.

When Dr. Zheng entered, he realized it wasn’t Ignatius who was unwell. The air was filled with the sharp scent of disinfectants, and the bedside table was littered with various ointments, pills, and gauze. Clearly, Ignatius had already been treating the wounds before he arrived.

The man’s flawless features carried a shadowy gloom. His impeccably tailored sleeves had been rolled up, and he was kneeling by the bed. Seeing the doctor arrive, he said in a low voice, "Come take a look. Her wounds are from a whip. She’s also been exposed to the cold and has a fever."

Dr. Zheng stepped closer and saw the woman carefully wrapped in a blanket. Only a palm-sized face, pale and translucent, was exposed. Her crow-black hair cascaded unkempt over the bedside, making her look like a lifeless doll. Her exposed arms were crisscrossed with whip marks, terrifying in their detail.

The old doctor gasped involuntarily and rushed to perform a series of examinations.

The condition was largely as Ignatius described. Fortunately, while the whip marks looked alarming, they weren’t deep. The person administering the blows was likely weak and had little strength. However, the whipping combined with the cold had caused a fever. The young woman’s physical condition was poor, causing her to collapse into unconsciousness.

"She should have imaging scans done. For now, give her fever reducers and anti-inflammatory medicine, clean the wounds, and apply the ointments thoroughly," Dr. Zheng said decisively.

Ignatius responded with a deep hum, his voice even lower as he added, "Whatever equipment is needed, have Maximilian get it here. She’s in too much pain to be moved. Make sure to use the best medicine, and ensure there are no scars left on her body."
