Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Men Are No Good
Ignatius Leclair saw this and chuckled lowly, his voice extremely pleasing to the ear.
The man walked over casually, got onto the bed, and pulled her—blanket and all—into his arms. He spoke in a low voice: "Awake?"
Her body trembled; she dared not disobey. She answered softly with a faint "Mm."
"The crew has already left Ocean City," Ignatius Leclair said unhurriedly. "Before they left, someone named Bartholomew called you nine times and even left you a message."
Delphine’s heart sank. She raised her small face and looked cautiously at Ignatius Leclair’s handsome, unpredictable expression, whispering carefully, "I really don’t know him well at all."
"Really?" The man’s voice deepened, his handsome face pressing down. He kissed her, hard and deep.
Delphine was kissed to the point of near suffocation, until she was so distressed she broke into tears. Only then did he release her.
Sister Zhao had been in a dazed state for the past two days. Who would’ve thought that the man paying her salary behind the scenes was none other than Mr. Leclair from Leclair Manor? The man had appeared unexpectedly in the dead of night, cold and handsome, carrying off Delphine Carter.
Sister Zhao could only imagine the chaos in her mind—a thousand galloping horses of profanity—but didn’t dare speak about the matter or confide in anyone. Any tidbits about Ignatius Leclair could be breaking-news worthy, let alone gossip involving her artist. Though Sister Zhao had long speculated about Delphine’s identity and the forces behind her, truly knowing the truth left her devastated—ignorance would’ve been bliss.
Delphine didn’t emerge until evening.
Sister Zhao had been waiting outside the entire time. When she saw her come out, she quickly rushed forward to support her, lowering her voice with cautious concern mixed with panic. "Delphine, did Mr. Leclair treat you okay?"
Delphine’s legs were still trembling at the thought of the man’s beastly behavior over the past two days, and she nearly ground her teeth to pieces.
Sister Zhao scrutinized her carefully, noticing that while she seemed pale-faced, her spirits were surprisingly good. Her bright, clear eyes sparkled, black and white in sharp contrast, and there wasn’t the slightest trace of the gloom and depression she had carried while acting anymore. Only then did Sister Zhao finally breathe a sigh of relief. Whatever way Mr. Leclair resolved things, at least her little Delphine was back to herself.
Sister Zhao grinned with delight.
"I’m fine." Delphine didn’t mention the events of the last two days, instead asking about the crew’s situation.
"The director and the crew stayed around here for two days and then left. I just told them you had something come up, and you went back to Nanyang early."
"By the way, the big fantasy blockbuster you filmed, *Ethereal Horizon*, has been scheduled for release during the summer holidays—July 18th. You’re about to start the roadshow now, Delphine," Sister Zhao said with a smile. Sister Zhao hadn’t expected Delphine’s name to suddenly appear on the roadshow list. Originally, Delphine only played a supporting role with limited screen time and wasn’t well-known. But now, director Tang had included her alongside the lead actress and actor for this promotional tour. It was absolutely a golden opportunity to gain fame quickly in a short period.
Clearly, Director Tang intended to give Delphine a boost. When Sister Zhao first heard the news, her face nearly split with laughter.
"Which places will I go?" Delphine paused for a moment in surprise.
"For now, it’s three cities. You just finished filming a movie. On top of that, roadshows are inherently exhausting. Director Tang plans to take you to three key cities—it should be enough to achieve the desired promotional effect," Sister Zhao replied, listing the locations. She had a very clear positioning for Delphine: high-end, sophisticated, international. Only films—no variety shows, no magazines—everything needed to pass through her strict layers of filtering. For this roadshow, she had also coordinated with Director Tang, narrowing it down to just the three major cities.
Delphine nodded slightly in agreement.
