Chapter 57: Chapter 57: The Man’s Voice Resounded Like Metal Hitting the Ground
To celebrate the film wrap party, Theodore Hughes reserved the most luxurious karaoke bar in the area.
"Delphine, have you really never acted before?" Bartholomew, watching everyone drunkenly sprawled all over, thought about how after tonight, they would all go their separate ways, uncertain if there would be opportunities to collaborate in the future. Unable to hold back, he finally asked.
Delphine gave a faint smile and replied softly, "I’ve only played a supporting role before."
Bartholomew was visibly dismayed but gave her a thumbs up and said solemnly, "You’re going to be a star, Delphine Carter."
Delphine smiled but didn’t respond.
Indeed, she had only played a supporting role. Yet during those five drifting, unstable years, she had taken on countless personas, reading into every person she crossed paths with to survive.
Her shattered worldview had been rebuilt in those five long years.
She was the surviving Delphine Carter.
"Delphine, after this film wrap, I’ll give you a break. You should rest for a while. How about we go hiking?" Manager Zhao said cautiously while looking at the stunning yet pale Delphine, whose smile seemed devoid of warmth.
Delphine gazed at her, her jet-black eyes gleaming against her snow-white complexion, her beauty striking and surreal.
She nodded without speaking, then retreated to a corner, picked up a crew-ordered beer, and began to drink bottle after bottle.
Manager Zhao noticed that everyone was reveling wildly while Delphine seemed off, and fearful of drinking herself, she could only stay by her side, anxiously awaiting assistance.
It wasn’t until the door to the private bar room was pushed open from outside that a tall, elegant man strode in. Surveying the drunken figures scattered across the floor, he furrowed his sharp brows, his gaze falling on Delphine Carter, passed out in the corner. His chiseled face darkened instantly.
The dim lighting in the private room lent a mysterious air as the man entered, instantly dispelling the room’s chaos and rowdiness. Manager Zhao’s heartbeat doubled as she laid eyes on this handsome, aloof figure who walked toward her direction. She froze in place.
The man leaned down, his coldly handsome face drawing close as he spoke in a low, resonant voice, as if metal striking stone: "Delphine Carter, you’ve been drinking?"
Manager Zhao spotted the assistant behind the man and finally snapped out of her daze, shocked to the core.
Maximilian muttered softly, "Mr. Leclair, the car is already prepared."
"Mr. Leclair?" Manager Zhao was thunderstruck.
Ignatius Leclair said nothing. This trip hadn’t been planned, but upon arriving and seeing Delphine drunk and surrounded by a room full of revelers, a faint trace of anger brewed within him. He reached out and grabbed her arm.
Delphine lifted her head, her large eyes misty, gazing at the man who looked forlorn. Like a little creature, she extended her hand and tugged gently at his sleeve, clutching the sapphire cufflink and refusing to let go. She murmured softly, "Brother, take me home."
She tilted her delicate face and gestured for him to carry her.
Ignatius was momentarily stunned by her soft plea, "Brother," his expression faltering as an unexpected warmth flickered in his otherwise cold heart.
He reached out and lifted her in his arms, feeling her instinctively wrap her arms around his neck while curling up in his embrace like a fluffy ragdoll kitten.
Without hesitation, the man turned and departed as though the room were empty.
In the karaoke room, the only sober person, Manager Zhao, opened her mouth as if to call after them but ultimately dared not utter a word.
Maximilian lingered for a moment before lowering his gaze and speaking softly, "Mr. Leclair will see Miss Delphine home."
Even though Manager Zhao had already suspected, hearing it confirmed by Maximilian struck her like a lightning bolt. The Crown Prince of the Leclair Estate was the only one who dared go by "Mr. Leclair."
When she had called Maximilian to report Delphine’s situation, she hadn’t expected anyone to come, let alone the man himself. This was Manager Zhao’s first time seeing the Crown Prince of the Leclair Estate up close, and his aristocratic air, cold and untouchable, was overwhelming.
