Chapter 53: Chapter 53 The man squeezed into the wooden lounge chair with her.

"Since Theodore Hughes needs funding and our studio has money, and Miss Delphine Carter is playing the leading role, why don’t we simply bring in our investment and share in the film’s profits?" Sister Zhao said nervously, glancing at Delphine’s reaction after finishing her sentence.

Sister Zhao, who had navigated the Entertainment Sector for years, naturally understood that Theodore Hughes’s situation wasn’t simply about film investment. He had offended influential figures in the past, so now, despite his previous fame and the movie’s solid reputation, he couldn’t find investors.

However, perhaps Miss Delphine Carter herself belongs to the circle of those influential figures. If they could bring in funding while simultaneously filming and investing, it would be even better.

Delphine nodded at these words and replied, "I’ll give you an answer in a couple of days."

Sister Zhao let out a sigh of relief, her face breaking into a smile.

That night, Ignatius Leclair returned to Emerald Lake.

Delphine had turned on the corridor’s night lamp and brought out a sensitive light pillar for added illumination. She was sitting on the chair outside the living room, studying her script.

Sister Li, having tidied up the kitchen, carried a basket and put on her reading glasses to knit little clothes for her newly born grandson. Upon seeing Ignatius return, she quickly set aside her task and smiled. "Young Master is back."

Ignatius nodded and exchanged a few casual words with Sister Li.

Sister Li briefly mentioned Delphine’s eating habits and sleep routine before excusing herself discreetly to return to her bedroom, leaving the space for the young pair.

The Young Master was still unmarried to this day. The Howard Family matriarch wouldn’t dare press him outwardly, but she was certainly anxious about it inwardly.

Ignatius went upstairs to take a shower. When he came out, he noticed Delphine hadn’t returned to her room yet, so he casually donned a bathrobe and went downstairs to fetch her.

Ignatius rarely stayed at Emerald Lake. During a visit to the Southern Sea, he thought the area’s tranquility appealing and purchased surrounding land to build an eco-friendly wooden villa. It had been years since its construction, standing vacant until Delphine was relocated here. Now, he found himself coming back regularly and quite enjoyed the arrangement.

At night, Emerald Lake welcomed a gentle sea breeze, its serenity soothing. Delphine had reviewed the script several times before closing her eyes and leaning back on the wooden recliner, her face looking slightly pale.

This project was proving to be even harder to act in than she initially imagined. The female lead, Time, had an incredibly complex role. Yet deep down, Delphine felt a faint thrill. She was eager to perform this character well.

When the man’s presence encroached, Delphine’s body trembled slightly. She opened her eyes and met Ignatius’s deep, almond-shaped eyes.

Ignatius leaned against the glass door; his tall frame relaxed and stretched out. Who knows how long he’d been watching her? A faint, almost imperceptible curve appeared at his lips as he spoke in a low voice, "Maximilian said you intend to invest in the film and join the crew?"

Delphine nodded. Considering the dim light, she wondered if Ignatius had seen her gesture, so she softly responded, "Sister Zhao said this film is worth investing in."

She merely wanted to help Theodore Hughes, and money was never an issue for Ignatius. As for the so-called influential people Theodore had offended, his Leclair Estate had never taken them seriously.

The curve at Ignatius’s lips deepened. He stood and stepped closer, effortlessly scooping up her delicate frame.

Delphine felt her body jolt as he cradled her. In an instant, they were squeezed together on the wooden recliner. With their light summer clothing, the tension thickened.

Delphine dared not move.

Ignatius stretched his limbs, his hand brushing against her slender waist as he murmured indifferently, "Mm."

That was his way of agreeing to the investment. Delphine visibly relaxed, letting out a small breath of relief.

"A while from now, Isaac Leclair will be on summer break. I plan to bring him over here to stay for a few days."

Delphine abruptly sat upright, staring blankly at Ignatius in a burst of emotion. She stammered, "My aunt won’t agree."

Madam Gu avoided Ignatius like the plague. She would never allow young Isaac to have contact with him.

Ignatius let out a low chuckle, his hand gently pinching her startled little face. The smooth, addictive sensation seemed to hook him further, and his gaze deepened. His voice dropped to an even lower tone, "I have my ways."
