Chapter 46: Chapter 46 His Taste in Women Has Never Changed
"The young master doesn’t often stay here, so it feels a bit deserted. The first floor includes a reception room, garden, kitchen, study, and a collection room.
Miss’s bedroom is on the second floor, directly opposite the young master’s bedroom. I’ll take you to see it," Mrs. Li said with a smile.
Delphine nodded and went upstairs, only to find the bedroom unusually spacious, equipped with an aromatherapy room, walk-in closet, and bathroom.
Mrs. Li lit some incense, its faint smoke curling upwards in the tranquil room until it dissipated in the distant expanse where the azure sea met the sky.
In the new environment, coupled with her poor sleep quality, Delphine woke shortly after lying down. She turned on the nightlight and glanced at the time—it was just past midnight.
At this hour in the City of Splendour’s southern district, the night had only just begun. Rising from the bed, she instinctively reached for her backpack, picked up a slim lady’s cigarette, and then placed it back. Barefoot, she stepped onto the carpet and went downstairs to get a drink of water.
Mrs. Li lived on the first floor. Delphine’s footsteps were light as she descended. She found the refrigerator, grabbed a bottle of water, and drank while casually pushing open the glass door to the living room. Sitting on the wooden floor, she gazed at the ground lights illuminating the beach, the waves, and the distant lighthouse.
Ignatius entered after unlocking the code lock and immediately saw the living room’s nightlight was on. Outside on the wooden floor, with her back to him, Delphine sat barefoot in her white nightdress.
Her long hair was slightly wavy and messy, scattered casually around her. Her silhouette was slim and frail, tranquil and solitary. Unbidden, it reminded Ignatius of the injured deer he rescued at age fifteen while vacationing in a small town in northern Ireland.
Back then, his mother was still alive.
Hearing the door open, Delphine trembled slightly, swiftly stood up, and turned to face him. Her delicate face glowed faintly under the light. Barefoot, she wore an expression of innocence and surprise.
Ignatius’s narrow, deep eyes grew even darker. Delphine was strikingly beautiful—the epitome of an Eastern woman, with a petite, oval-shaped face, a pointed chin, and a figure so thin it left only her glossy, dark eyes shimmering with a faint sense of detachment.
Though Ignatius had lived in the United Kingdom for years, his mother had provided him with both Chinese and English-style education. Nonetheless, many of his habits and ways of thinking were British—except for his preference in women, which had never changed.
Compared to Western women with blonde hair and blue eyes, he preferred Eastern women. Delphine’s appearance aligned perfectly with his aesthetic taste.
"Go to the kitchen and make me something to eat. At this hour, Mrs. Li has already gone to bed," Ignatius said calmly, noticing Delphine’s shoulders tremble slightly. She hesitated and eventually nodded. His lips curved into a faint, nearly imperceptible smile.
Ignatius quickly went upstairs, allowing Delphine’s tense body to gradually relax. For the past few days, Ignatius had been staying at the Leclair residence; she had assumed he rarely visited this villa. Clearly, she had misjudged.
Delphine furrowed her brows as she entered the kitchen. Inspecting the food in the refrigerator, she discovered there was enough to cook. Her culinary skills were decent—over the years, she had largely relied on herself to prepare meals and solve her own basic needs.
However, for someone like Ignatius, who was accustomed to cuisine prepared by top-tier chefs, she had little interest in cooking for him.
Still, Delphine made a simple dish of tomato beef noodles, slicing the preserved beef and tomatoes before cooking them in the pot.
Once she had finished, she brought the dish out. Ignatius had already come downstairs, likely just out of the shower. He wore gray linen pants and a beige home shirt, with his front hair casually curled. His handsome features, softened and warm, lacked their usual coldness.
Delphine blinked in mild surprise but quickly lowered her gaze, handing over the noodles.
Ignatius’s eyes narrowed as he looked at her pointed chin, his gaze sweeping briefly across her petite face. In a faint tone, he said, "Behind the sitting room, there’s a storage room. Go inside and fetch a bottle of red wine."
