Chapter 43: Chapter 43 Mr. Li asked me to pick you up and take you back
No matter what Mrs. Carter’s intentions are for involving Jocelyn Yeager, her actions will make Ignatius Leclair believe that Jocelyn Yeager truly feels differently about him.
Ignatius Leclair, being someone who seeks revenge for every slight, might not take action against Jocelyn Yeager now, but it’s hard to guarantee he won’t settle the score later.
The only phone number she remembered was Jason’s. She called Jason over and then stayed utterly still like an ostrich burying its head in the sand.
No matter if it was Ignatius Leclair’s threats or her mother’s manipulations, it all made her see through the cold indifference of the world.
Delphine sat dazed in the café, completely unaware that a few of her photos had sparked a sensational trend: "Have you wandered today?"
Delphine Carter ran outside in her slippers, leaving only Ignatius Leclair’s two assistants, Maximilian and Little Six, scrambling to deal with the aftermath.
Ignatius Leclair merely said, "Find her and bring her to Emerald Hill Villas."
Assistant Maximilian and Little Six exchanged glances, swallowing their shock once again. This just couldn’t be real.
The Emerald Hill Villas Ignatius referred to were his private estates, nestled beside the Inner Sea, situated on the most precious real estate in the South Seas.
That wasn’t the issue—the real problem was that Ignatius usually lived at the Leclair Mansion; Emerald Hill Villas were his private sanctum. Not only were outsiders forbidden, but even the Leclair Family patriarch wouldn’t be able to stay there for a day or two.
The security system there was said to be the most extreme in the world. Moreover, Mr. Leclair had purchased all the surrounding land to build a garden to ensure peace and quiet.
Turning the vicinity of a seaside villa into a massive open-air garden—this kind of profligate spending ensured that there wouldn’t be another place like it in the South Seas.
"Will Mr. Leclair be staying at the mansion or the villa later?" Maximilian shot a meaningful glance at Little Six, who rolled his eyes before asking.
"He alternates between the two. Stone Leclair will likely reside in the mansion long-term," Ignatius said nonchalantly.
Even though he despised the people and matters surrounding this place, with the patriarch still recuperating in Switzerland, moving out would mean ceding it to Stone Leclair and Beatrice Carter.
A century of the Leclair Family’s pristine reputation, the legacy built by generations, couldn’t possibly be left for them to ruin.
Your father always lived at the mansion, and you never mentioned moving out before. Assistant Maximilian muttered inwardly, his thoughts crystal clear. If it was previously uncertain what Delphine’s identity represented, now that she was being invited to Emerald Hill Villas, failing to figure it out would be unforgivably dim-witted.
Ignatius Leclair’s belongings at the mansion remained untouched. Luckily, during initial preparations, both the mansion and the villa were outfitted with two sets of furnishings. The villa had always been maintained by housekeepers, so living there wouldn’t pose any inconvenience.
But where was Miss Delphine?
The hapless Maximilian was booted out to search for her.
When Maximilian found her, Jason and Joy hadn’t left yet. The pair awkwardly debated how to invite Delphine to stay at their place without causing misunderstandings, while still being considerate of her feelings.
"You should say something."
"No, you should say something." The two stared at each other, then fixed their eyes on the flashy Bentley parked outside the Cat Café.
"Oh no... What a beauty," Jason’s eyes lit up. A top-tier model, understated yet profoundly luxurious.
"Are you blind? Do you think you have the right to covet that kind of car?" Joy, dripping with sarcasm, pulled Jason back.
Jason plastered himself against the glass, watching as a sharp-looking young man stepped out of the Bentley and made his way into the Cat Café. Ignoring them entirely, the man headed straight to Delphine Carter.
Jason and Joy exchanged a glance before rushing forward, just in time to hear the man respectfully say, "Miss Delphine, Mr. Leclair has sent me to escort you back."
