Chapter 225: Chapter 225: No Matter How Good Ignatius Leclair Is, She Won’t Want Him Anymore
Delphine froze upon hearing that, and looked at Ignatius Leclair.
The man’s phoenix-shaped eyes narrowed slightly, his sword-like brows angled sharply into his temples. With a high nose bridge and facial features sculpted to perfection, it was an undeniably striking face.
"Who said I fear the Wade Family?" Her expression tightened slightly, her focus wavering under the allure of that face. This was the most wicked man alive, forever exuding a lazy charm as if nothing in the world mattered to him. But once he ensnared his prey, he would extend the sharpest claws to devour it whole.
She had been consumed by him once before. What remained were scraps, in dust-like ruins that she pieced together to survive.
Ignatius Leclair’s gaze deepened and he leaned toward her ear, his low, seductive voice enveloping her, "Ah-Fu, you performed wonderfully that night. By capturing me, you’ve essentially seized control of half the power in Southeast Asia. Forget the Wade Family; from now on, you’ll have nothing left to fear."
Delphine shuddered, pushed him away, and quickly stood up, rushing upstairs in a whirlwind.
She raced into her bedroom, breathing heavily, her face blooming with heat. That night of madness — she could only recall fragmented flashes.
In that fleeting lapse of clarity, Delphine steadied herself, regaining a sliver of composure. Her expression turned dim and forlorn, bleak in its quiet desolation. Men were inherently cruel, faithless, and callous to the soul. Even if he was the best among them, she would never want him again. Ignatius Leclair remained indifferent even as she bolted away. He lowered his gaze; an impenetrable shadow lurked in the depths of his phoenix-shaped eyes. In the icy stillness of St. Moritz, Switzerland, he had lain in the endless white silence, with only the sound of his own breath to keep him company.
Each time he failed to stop himself from thinking about her, the image in his mind remained the same: of that detached, joyless young girl’s face. She would sit alone, barefooted, on the balcony, gazing into the distance, resembling a mayfly caught in the throes of its dying struggle.
To this day, he finally accepted the truth—it was he who had destroyed Ah-Fu’s chance at growing into someone happy.
In his arrogance and pride-filled life, ethics and worldly matters meant little to him. After witnessing the failure of his parents’ marriage, and the selfish ugliness of human nature, his temperament grew colder, lonelier. He couldn’t trace back to that moment: whether he had approached her out of love, or out of disdain to start a cruel game.
Now, however, all he wished was for her to live quietly and serenely by his side, to remain at his side always. He would restore everything she had lost.
While the man was lost in thought, Maximilian returned and quietly reported, "Mr. Leclair, Commander Shaw has informed us he will arrive in Southeast Asia tomorrow."
Ignatius Leclair raised an eyebrow, nodded slightly, and said coldly, "Tomorrow, you pick him up and bring him straight to the Leclair estate. As for that fat man, chop off his hands, cripple him, then send him to the Imperial City. The rest can be dealt with by the Shaw Family. As for Yvonne Wade’s previous offenses, pick a few at random and send them through the system. I don’t want to see that woman for the next few years at least."
Being sent to prison for years essentially meant the ruination of the Wade Family’s eldest daughter. For someone like her—a pampered heiress wedged into that hellish place—if she didn’t go insane, she would end up broken and witless.
"The Wade Family will definitely seek out Stone Leclair," Maximilian murmured.
Ignatius Leclair curled his lips in a faint smile, his phoenix eyes flashing with a gripping dark intensity, speaking softly, "Isn’t Commander Shaw already here? It will be tough for Stone Leclair to interfere."
Maximilian’s eyes lit up. Commander Shaw arriving in Southeast Asia at this moment was clearly an intentional gesture of apology toward Mr. Leclair.
The Wade Family’s fate was all but sealed.
Richard Shaw arrived at the Leclair estate the following afternoon. This time, he hadn’t traveled in secret; alongside him were the seasoned veterans of his old military unit—all sharp, disciplined, their eyes carrying a hardened edge. After Richard Shaw stepped down from office, some of his life-and-death comrades retired alongside him, settling into ordinary lives near his cabin, refusing to leave no matter how hard he pushed. Over time, Richard Shaw simply accepted their presence.
In six years since his departure from the Imperial City, Richard Shaw had only ventured out twice, and both times he came to Southeast Asia. His loyal subordinates now looked at the Leclair estate with hope in their eyes, praying that Mr. Leclair could persuade their commander to undergo treatment for his legs—if not to reclaim his military glory, then at least to live like a normal man. That, too, would be a blessing.
