Chapter 217: Chapter 217: I’ve never been with a nobleman’s daughter before; you’re the first one.

Delphine was dragged into the car, and her phone was immediately snatched away by Ambrose River.

Ambrose noticed that the call was still ongoing, and he instantly flew into a rage. He ended the call without hesitation and slapped her viciously, roaring, "You sly bitch, playing tricks on me?"

The hulking man had incredible strength, and Delphine was flung onto the back seat by the slap, half her face stinging with painful heat.

She looked up, neither crying nor panicking. Instead, she smiled faintly and said slowly, "Too late."

Ambrose, a man who had been entrenched in both the legal and criminal worlds for over forty years, had encountered countless women and plotted innumerable schemes. Yet, it was his first time confronting a woman kidnapped at gunpoint who remained so composed. Instinctively, he glanced at the phone’s contact information, and when he saw it was Jocelyn Yeager, the third son of the Yeager Family, a thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead.

"When we stepped out of the car, Reginald had already heard your voice. On top of that, several people know we’re meeting tonight. This matter, Mr. River, won’t be so easy to explain," Delphine said calmly, "Whether it’s lust or your life at stake, a smart man would know which to prioritize."

"Don’t try scaring me. Everyone in Nanyang knows about Reginald Yeager’s engagement to the Leclair Family. At most, you’re just an insignificant mistress hidden away in the shadows. Reginald wouldn’t dare blow this up—it’d ruin the alliance with the Leclair family and drag him into scandal, leaving him utterly defeated," Ambrose reasoned aloud. He thought to himself that, even if Delphine had ties to the Yeager Family, Reginald wouldn’t cause trouble. Losing the Leclair Family marriage and staining the family name would spell disaster for him.

Still, Ambrose felt uneasy. Having relied on the Shaw Family’s backing to survive all these years without incident, he was always careful never to provoke those he couldn’t afford to offend.

Ambrose tossed the phone, now a liability, into another car and ordered the three vehicles to split up and drive separately.

Delphine looked slightly somber. So, he truly was an experienced hand—splitting up to divert attention.

She lowered her gaze, and as her mind grew weary, Ambrose had already climbed into the car. He lunged toward her, grinning lecherously, "It’s all dealt with now, little beauty. Never before has old River played with a woman from a wealthy family. You’ll be my first."

Unexpectedly, the seemingly delicate woman moved with exceptional agility, sidestepping him swiftly so that the hulking man lunged straight into the seat. Before he could react, Delphine’s cold voice rang out: "Let’s not waste words. Make a call right now to Yvonne Wade or Bessie Leclair. Touch me, and you won’t live to see tomorrow. If you can’t reach them, have your superiors ask them."

Ambrose froze upon hearing those two names. His heart raced as he scrutinized the woman carefully. Her exquisitely beautiful yet aloof features were unlike any woman he’d dealt with before. For a moment, he couldn’t discern whether she was bluffing or telling the truth.

The man narrowed his small eyes, a flicker of hesitation clouding his thoughts. Lust overtook reason as he leered and said, "I’ll be honest with you—my backers are solid as a rock. Once I’ve had you and recorded a video, I’ll be on a plane to the U.S. tomorrow with a fortune. The U.S. doesn’t have an extradition treaty. Not Reginald Yeager, not some goldfish or shrimp named after him, no one can touch me."

"Having ambitions is admirable—provided you can make it out of Nanyang," Delphine tightened her posture and said coldly. "Check your phone. By now, you should have several people trying to find you."

"Little beauty, stop stalling. It’s only a matter of time before I have my way with you," Ambrose dismissed her coolly, laughing as he lunged forward impatiently. "Your man hasn’t called even once. Clearly, he doesn’t care about you. Tonight, I’m having you for sure."

Delphine was pinned to the ground as the man pressed down on her, groping and kissing her. Her expression darkened, and her eyes turned icy as her hand reached for the pearl earring in her ear, a murderous intent flashing within her.

At that moment, the driver slammed on the brakes. The hulking man lost his balance and slammed his head, immediately cursing, "What kind of driving is this?!"

The driver’s voice trembled with fear: "M-M-Mr. River..."

The car was completely blocked on the road. A group of over a dozen armed men surged forward like a flood, exerting an oppressive force.

The car doors were violently torn open, and the vehicle shattered. Sirens blared as Reginald Yeager dragged the dizzy and swearing Ambrose River out of the car, throwing him to the ground. He glanced at him as if staring at a corpse.

Under the night sky, a man arrived, radiant with the cold and imposing brilliance of the stars and moon. His presence was noble and commanding as he stepped out of the car. Reaching his hand out to the pale-faced young woman inside, he spoke with suppressed anger, "Delphine, come here."
