Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Isn’t this Miss Wu out of favor?

Delphine froze for a moment, instinctively reaching up with her right hand to touch her forehead. A faint sting spread from it. After thinking for a while, she realized it might have happened when she fell off the sofa in Jason’s office.

"Ran into a door," she said, somewhat startled as she looked at Ignatius Leclair. Ignatius had already averted his gaze, his handsome face half-shrouded in the shadows, making him appear even colder and more austere.

What she saw made her heart tremble. The Ignatius Leclair who faced the world was always a reserved heir of the illustrious Leclair Family — polished, graceful, tossing out money with effortless composure.

But the Ignatius Leclair she knew was cold, stern, and devoid of humor, his dark aura unhidden, his scheming as ruthless as a fox.

It was as if this man saved all his worst emotions for her. Delphine shook her head with a cold laugh. Ignatius, having already let go of her, carried his coffee upstairs without sparing her another glance.

After lingering downstairs for half an hour, Delphine finally made her way to the top floor. As expected, the small attic had been tidied up, complete with a soft bed and a walk-in closet. Her belongings had been neatly placed by the bedside.

The attic did not come with an exclusive bathroom; she would have to either use the one on the first floor or Ignatius’s bathroom to take a shower.

The night was deep and thick.

Ignatius stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing into the night outside. He made a phone call to his assistant, Maximilian, uttering only one line: "Check Delphine Carter’s movements today."

Maximilian was taken aback when he received the call. Delphine Carter, the Fifth Miss of the Leclair Family?

Ignatius said nothing more and hung up. The coffee he had brought up was already cold, and the sharp, brooding intensity on his striking face grew even more menacing.

This was *his* woman. Whatever she did, it had to follow *his* rules.

Ten minutes later, Maximilian completed the investigation and called back, carefully reporting, "Mr. Leclair, Miss Carter went directly to Glitterstar Media this afternoon after leaving the house. Later in the afternoon, the deputy mayor’s wife stormed onto the scene to confront a mistress, and Miss Carter happened to be there.

A lot of people recorded the incident on video, and it’s already circulating online. I’ve sent it to you."

Maximilian continued, "Besides that episode in the afternoon, Miss Carter followed her agent to a crew audition and then returned directly to the Leclair residence."

Ignatius responded with a low sound of acknowledgment and opened the video. In the footage, Delphine’s slender legs and slim waist caught his eye. Her expression was unfamiliar — detached, cold, and carrying a hint of fierceness. With just a few remarks, she had sent the arrogant deputy mayor’s wife packing.

Ignatius watched as she removed her coat and draped it over the young model caught in the crossfire. Restlessness surged within him. He could already guess why Delphine had stuck up for the unfamiliar model. It was nothing more than having endured a similar plight herself before.

Ignatius shut off the video, issuing orders coldly, "Intercept the footage. As for the deputy mayor and his wife, deal with them. Get it done."

Maximilian was shocked upon hearing this. The deputy mayor’s wife had the backing of the Wade Family; otherwise, she wouldn’t have dared act so brazenly. Yet Mr. Leclair was prepared to take action over a mere video, utterly disregarding the Wade Family’s influence.

The assistant suddenly felt a chill of foreboding. Wasn’t this Fifth Miss supposedly unloved and unspoiled at the Leclair estate?

"Understood, I’ll handle it immediately," Maximilian replied, only to find Ignatius had already hung up.

Carrying a change of clothes, Delphine headed to the attic’s bathroom. Passing by the master bedroom, she noticed the door was ajar. Ignatius’s low, stern voice drifted out faintly; it sounded like he was on a call. She dared not linger to eavesdrop and quickly slipped into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. Then, sinking into Ignatius’s exclusively large bathtub, she let out a contented sigh.
